Metal as a character has technically reached his peak, the Metal Virus arc in the IDW made room for new things to come but Sega and Sonic Team are not likely to take the route that's laid out in front of them for the future of Metal as a character. For now he'll continue to stagnate

@ rlly? Cuz he was overused in the mid the late 2000’s and 2010’s and it rlly hurt his character. Metal Sonic is one of those characters you shouldn’t use unless you plan to do something big with him. Other characters like Tails, Knuckles and Shadow suffered from a similar problem but they’ve have long since been fixed

He didn’t take it on all the way he mimiced it as it was said towards the star he’s still trying to find the original, but he still going to proceed with eggman‘s plans until he can find Eggman. Either way he failed. This was in the earlier times of the comics the whole saga’s already been put out.

@@foxtrap86flame Metal Sonic is always trying to prove that he is a better Sonic. So with that train of thought, Metal would have to be far more superior to Sonic in order to be the one true Sonic. So, Metal creating a better version, not a copy, of himself would fallow that same trail of thought. Example: Eggman first created Mecha-Sonic then improved to Metal-Sonic.

Not what he said. He said that after Heroes, he was rebuilt and reprogrammed by Eggman, but in his vanilla form. You can tell that by the line “we have clashed since then.” Eggman presumably started the upgrade into Neo Metal sometime during or before The War to Take Back the Planet (Sonic Forces)
