I still think the coolest thing to see you do would be to UN-portable-ize a few systems. Like a PSP to PSNP (PlayStation Not Portable,) specifically, because that's a console I think could really benefit from the treatment. Alternatively, if you ever wanted to do another briefcase-style build, I think it could be neat to see what you could do with the final/smallest hardware iterations from the 360 and PS3 combined into a single briefcase unit. Those systems might not have shrunk down over their lives quite as much as the PS2 hardware did, but they did squeeze them down quite a bit, so seeing how power efficient you could make such a unit -- possibly even GO battery-powered this time -- would be awesome.

might as well be a mix of a D-Pad and an analog. I'm really thinking about designing such a thing myself, based on a wireless PS2 controller, which has a really nice D-Pad, easy to use, little force required, moves really well and just pivots with a single spring. It has rubber pads, and hence no clicking sound, but it works smoothly just like this judging by how it moves, but with enough force all directions are pressed, and so it lacks a true pivotal separator.

@DeweyKentM5 жыл бұрын
You should buy a Portable neo geo for a video. I’d totally watch you play and see what’s wrong with it, crack it open, and possibly make improvements to the existing hardware. Btw, personal story below if you want to read. I bought some wireless earbuds online for super cheap and one of them wasn’t working. The other sounded good and the price was cheap enough that i felt like I should crack it open and have a look around inside. Turns out one of the speaker wires wasn’t soldered. I, never really having soldered in my life, tried to take the easy way out and superglue the wire to the board. I know, good idea right? After wiping away the plastic that melted from the superglue, I asked my dad if I could use his old soldering iron to give it a proper try. Because of your videos, I had the confidence to pick up a soldering iron for the first time and see if I could fix my earbuds. You should’ve seen the solder I built up on the components around what I was actually trying to tin. The tip was huge and the components in the earbud were SUPER tiny! In the end, I was able to fix it with no bridged connections, and it works! The sound is a little tinnier than the other, but they were suuuuper cheap, so I’m happy. Hopefully, the story wasn’t too long for you to read through, I just wanted to let you know that you inspired a fairly recent subscriber to try something new. Thanks!

Also, do you really need the digital to analog conversion circuit? The Mini Pads seem to output digital despite having an analog stick, at least my system recognizes them as digital. I would assume the Neo Geo Mini would accept digital input just fine.
