I'll agree when Respawn limits the use of cfg files to around 3-4. That cheat movement is busted in 1v1, I tried it myself. We need to maintain skill ceiling and not some automated no skill movement.

such a good idea limiting cfg files would both make the op cfg files non usable and also let us use some configs for limiting fps changing fov (i personally don't change fov but limiting my fps really helps with consistent fps on my screens refresh rate) etc i would love it if respawn actually made the same changes you said in this comment idk how much config files meme strafing uses but it seems like a lot to do something like that

I'm on console with most of my friends, and the meme strafing thing has brought up with my friends (yet again) the whole: "console can't tap-strafe or momentum lurch" topic. I am an avid movement player, and being confined to console (for reasons I won't disclose), and I honestly don't think it makes a difference. Console can superglide backwards, something I do a lot, aim-assist, full 360-movement, and I can contest all of my better PC friends in 1v1s. I agree with everything you have said, and honestly admire your no-nonsense opinion on this.

As far as I'm concerned, any non-human input whether its a macro that automatically performs a movement tech, or an AI based aimbot that gives you aim assist. Any non-human input should be bannable. This is not a single player game, any software or tool that gives you an advantage against players cannot be allowed. I'm not saying these movement techs should be bannable, only the software that facilitates the automation of them, as far I'm concerned if you are skilled enough to do this consistently legitimately, then I deserved to die.

@@MW-kf9rf I believe this person is saying that any special hardware and external software to the game that may be used to easily and simply perform very difficult and complex actions requiring multiple or continuous inputs in a series that may be nearly or actually impossible with traditional or ordinary inputs should not be tolerated due to the notion that it gives a significant advantage over a person who is not using them. Since aim assist is a standard and supported feature in the game for all controller players, it would be relatively safe to assume it is not included in the same argument. In my opinion, the reason people are upset is because they feel that these tools allow their users to perform in ways they would otherwise not be remotely capable of with commonly accepted hardware and traditional inputs. They feel that this drastically lowers the skill ceiling and is unhealthy and toxic for general gameplay in a commonly competitive setting as it is unnaturally augmenting a player's input without any significant skill or increase in skill required to perform such advanced actions, maneuvers, and techniques.

Mokey, from what I have tested in the firing range using all the characters( including horizon), there is no 0.4 second time limit for lurches unlike titanfall2 which has this limit. Using jumpads and shooting the targets while on top of them to go flying in low gravity, I was able to lurch and eventually tap strafe in multiple complete circles before touching the ground even without the use of horizon and her passive. I believe it is hard to lurch for longer in an actual game having to do with air acceleration being lower than titan fall. Thus making lurches give the player less degrees of movement unless glitches in the firing range that cause in air motions to change

Hey Monkey loved the vid as usual. I was watching a TF2 speedrun video the other day where they mentioned using a neutral input (A+D together) before letting go of one side, to enter an air strafe without incurring lurch. It had huge implications for TF2 since lurching slows you down. I was wondering if you or anyone else had any ideas on how this could be implemented in Apex movement? Maybe its just not that useful in this game but I wanted to share! Have a good one!

It doesn't seem very useful in apex mostly due to you usually not being airborne for nearly as long as in titanfall. It could be useful to know for octane jump pads but I think that's mostly it

This macros, config files & game file altering makes the effort i put in feel cheap/useless. When i face off with someone who can use all this movement, I felt amazed & inspired. But when there's a possibility that they're just using things like these.... it's just disappointing.

I think the solution to this is to re-evaluate the range of movement that we (respawn) want in this game. Then uncoupling this from lurches to ensure that insane movement such as the meme stafe is impossible without sacrificing the general mobility increase that tapstrafing gives. This especially in combination with the fact that this is specific to m&k, requires rebinding of keys, etc. I'm not for the removal of tapstrafing at all, but I do want it to be made a real feature, possible on all input formats and limited to non-busted movement Make it accessible without lowering the skill ceiling

Same, I started in season 0 (mind u I started on ps4) when I went to PC (around season 9) I learned how to tap strafe and superglide and all these cool movement techs that now can just be done using cfg files, It takes real skill to actually be able to do movement and not really on a cfg to do it

As a console player who’s V consistent with supergliding, the concept of people abusing configs instead of learning how to actually do them is quite frustrating. I’d like to point out you can hold bangalores smoke out while going for them and you’ll see where the timing is. I’m not sure how many variables actually change the timing besides object height, finding areas to superglide and then airstrafing into multiple edge slides and redirecting by facing backwards feels really damn good, especially after beaming/getting beamed all day

@@abyzz6252 its way easier. Last gen consoles only run at like 40 fps. I went from ps4 at 42 fps and to pc at 144fps and now got a 6900xt at 280 fps. Its extremely harder to get super glides at 280 fps than at 42

I’m gonna say this here for anyone who’s learning superglides: they’re not that hard and really don’t require a config file. Sure it makes them consistent but that ruins the fun of hitting one. Just learn to do it normally, eventually you can hit them almost every time, and once you learn to tap strafe out of them, even if you screw up you can still dodge bullets. Don’t be a loser and use macros or configs for them, it’s just not fun.

Maybe a hot take, but I kinda don't mind meme strafing, movement configs, or ways to abuse movement systems in general. I think this movement is interesting, and the configs just make it more accessible (paying for configs is stupid though). I personally use a config in tf2 that has a few things that simply movement (ex: binding space to jump and a timed crouch to get a c tap jump). I guess I'm more a fan of gameplay depth over accessibility.

My stance with CFG files is that it isn't wrong if you are using it for things such as resolution stretching, fps capping, reticle changes, etc. But when it impacts movement in ways that are practically inhuman you kind of have a problem. I would say meme strafing falls under this category and shouldn't be used, and superglide configs are borderline as they are within the realm or realistically pulling them off.

In my opinion superglide configs are fine since the tech is frame dependent and its really difficult to consistently superglide on 240+ fps

@@angeldxst Apex becomes really weird over 200+ fps. I hard cap mine to 189fps with config files and I assume that a lot of pros do this as well. Although I do use the superglide config files I am still able to perform superglides without them albeit inconsistently. I think that the config files help tremendously with the timing but once I get the hang of it I am definitely removing them.

Config file movement tech is straight up cheating. Should be treated the same as aimbot. Mousewheel to W and jump, up and down should be the limit IMO. Of course, this can be done in game with no config file modifications.

If the devs let us do it entire within their game with no 3rd party software then I can't get mad at any players for doing it, even if it is obviously unhealthy for the game. All they need to do is block the exec command from the autoexec. They've removed commands in the past like alias so this would be the simplest fix to meme strafing config chains.

I found out you can do this on controller without any cfg files. By binding WASD into a single button (mine is on B/circle since i jump with L1 and crouch with R1) and doing circles with your movement stick at a specifc speed allows you to meme strafe on controller. Its really hard to do, but possible. I also set my jump button to be on turbo so i can just hold it down instead of having to spam it. I dont find the tech all that useful but its pretty fun to do in the range.

@@ms_smurf its a config yes, but not a config file. config files are basically just legal macros while binding buttons to your controller is the same as a mnk player binding W to scrollwheel

I honestly had no idea that messing with config files was a big deal, i have been using my null input config from team fortress 2 since day one

Null movement inputs don't tend to lend to massive advantage, in team fortress, player acceleration and deceleration were fast enough to make use of it. In Apex with the movement it has, you aren't likely to get much use out of a Null movement script simply because of how the player acceleration and deceleration are much slower by comparison, and even if it were to have an affect, it will unlikely lead to anything advantageous

I think Apex should have the input buffer like how to Titanfall does. You're still able to lurch and tap-strafe to an extent, but you can't use the scroll wheel.

well i have to change my stance about lurch tech cause of this and say that i think limiting it to 3 like in the S12 network test was the correct move, i love tap strafing out of fights but this kind of thing is too far
