Wow I can’t believe people will say harsh things about this video, which is sad. Your African Grey is outstanding and absolutely funny. I am searching for me a African Grey as I speak. I’m just doing a lot of research right now. I have the money and the cage and stuff just need my African Grey, and now seeing this I think I’m ready for my new family member

Definitely. They mimick everything. So, you have to be careful. Or your parrot will be repeating it; the good, the bad, arguments, bad language, screams. They WILL eventually repeat it. 😆😆😆😆 We had one and let me tell ya. It was tons of laughter and entertainment.

I love when Neo spreads his wings. I taught my Quaker to say "Angel wings!" whenever she'd spread her wings. I'll never forget the day she put two sentences together to make a third, all on her own: "Dido's a good bird." "Dido's a pretty bird." _"Dido's a pretty good bird!"_ 🐦💕

Sara Cobello - You mean a Timneh African Gray, it is still an African Gray, it is just the type that comes from Liberia instead of Congo. The Timneh is a smaller variant, has darker gray feathers and the tail is burgundy/maroon and the beak is light colored on top. For short, Neo is a CAG, yours is a TAG (don’t know why they don’t call them LAG).

Mine turned 30 this year. Also chatters endlessly but mysteriously shuts up when I walk in the room. He will only say a few things to me, but on his own, has a huge vocabulary, and remembers how to do voices of people who have been dead for 25 years. Like this fellow, mine is a bit tone deaf, and tries to sing, but it comes out a bit messed up. He speaks english, and some Polish that he learned from the people in my old neighborhood..... but I don't speak Polish, so my bird is multilingual, and I am not! We had a mockingbird live outdoor near his window, so he picked up all sorts of bird calls, then a crow started coming around, and they were all speaking in languages which were not native to any of them!

I wouldn’t mind a bird who talked like this, it’s the screaming that would drive me nuts. I have an Amazon who does not talk, he is very quiet. He will be 40 next year, and was wild caught, so that could be why - but even with hand raised domestic parrots, there is no guarantee you will get one who is a good talker. My vet has adopted several African greys, and most of them don’t talk, which is part of the reason some of their original owners got rid of them. People see videos like this and have an expectation that they will get a talking bird, and sometimes that just doesn’t happen. I wish my bird talked, and I’ve tried to “train” him to, but he doesn’t, and that’s ok. Love him just the way he is.

One of the things that I love about Grey’s and my grey is that they mimic the exact sound of others.They DON’T sound robotic like some birds or sit and squalk, like macaws can do..I love it how they will go through their whole repertoire like this. I was going to get a scarlet macaw, but happy that I decided on a Grey instead. I’ve had my Ruby since she weaned 24 years this August. I’m in Northern California and will adopt a rescue. I’m set up for another Grey and am very experienced with parrots of all kinds. If any rescue facilities see this post and need a loving home, please reply to me here. Thank you.

I didn't see the harsh comments because I didn't read any further than the lady who says they are a necessary. And I want to read them cuz I enjoyed your video and I think your bird is beautiful and what a great companion. I've never owned one and I've heard they're very hard work and I already have two cats and a dog but your bird is beautiful I hope you are forever companions. Thank you for the video

I remember we babysat an African grey when a family friend would go on long vacations. His name was Grey Bird and he only eventually bonded with me and would lash out to my mom and sister. He would remember me every time he came back to our home. I miss him so much and while I would love to own one I know that I wouldn’t be able to give it the attention it needs. So I watch videos like this missing my old friend Grey. Thank you for sharing.

@brodytheafricangrey
@brodytheafricangrey 2 жыл бұрын
@@Krislt9 I would not recommend buying one actually. How long have you thought about this? I’ve had Brody for 8 years and I can no longer take care of him without being in misery most of the time because I’m sick. Are you in good health? It’s similar to adopting twin babies that will need your attention 24-7 and live for 45 years. There’s not a single part of your life they don’t affect. A dog would be much easier, and less of a commitment as a lot can change in your life in 10-14 years. It’s something you really have to think about. I love my boy, and won’t let anyone else take care of him but if something happens to me, he’s screwed. None of my family members can handle him. I have zero help with him. If you’re set on it try to rescue one or be a foster parront first.

@@brodytheafricangrey Everyone who ever buys any bird should know this type of stuff before getting one. It should be required reading like a baby book. My mother has had 3 macaws, 2 scarlets and an African Grey who is digging this video. They require more attention and work and all kinds of special treatment and accommodations. Considering their intelligence, they go crazy the exact same way people do when neglected. They will self harm, it’s tough to see what others do to a living being that will outlive them.
