Mine turned 30 this year. Also chatters endlessly but mysteriously shuts up when I walk in the room. He will only say a few things to me, but on his own, has a huge vocabulary, and remembers how to do voices of people who have been dead for 25 years. Like this fellow, mine is a bit tone deaf, and tries to sing, but it comes out a bit messed up. He speaks english, and some Polish that he learned from the people in my old neighborhood..... but I don't speak Polish, so my bird is multilingual, and I am not! We had a mockingbird live outdoor near his window, so he picked up all sorts of bird calls, then a crow started coming around, and they were all speaking in languages which were not native to any of them!

I wouldn’t mind a bird who talked like this, it’s the screaming that would drive me nuts. I have an Amazon who does not talk, he is very quiet. He will be 40 next year, and was wild caught, so that could be why - but even with hand raised domestic parrots, there is no guarantee you will get one who is a good talker. My vet has adopted several African greys, and most of them don’t talk, which is part of the reason some of their original owners got rid of them. People see videos like this and have an expectation that they will get a talking bird, and sometimes that just doesn’t happen. I wish my bird talked, and I’ve tried to “train” him to, but he doesn’t, and that’s ok. Love him just the way he is.

@@Krislt9 I would not recommend buying one actually. How long have you thought about this? I’ve had Brody for 8 years and I can no longer take care of him without being in misery most of the time because I’m sick. Are you in good health? It’s similar to adopting twin babies that will need your attention 24-7 and live for 45 years. There’s not a single part of your life they don’t affect. A dog would be much easier, and less of a commitment as a lot can change in your life in 10-14 years. It’s something you really have to think about. I love my boy, and won’t let anyone else take care of him but if something happens to me, he’s screwed. None of my family members can handle him. I have zero help with him. @@brodytheafricangrey Everyone who ever buys any bird should know this type of stuff before getting one. It should be required reading like a baby book. My mother has had 3 macaws, 2 scarlets and an African Grey who is digging this video. They require more attention and work and all kinds of special treatment and accommodations. Considering their intelligence, they go crazy the exact same way people do when neglected. They will self harm, it’s tough to see what others do to a living being that will outlive them.

It always amazes me the time and patience it must take to teach him all the words he’s learned 🙏🏼👏

flossie Flossie youre not jokeing about watchin your language. Go check out Pebble the Crazy Cockatoo. She had a former owner that was to say the least " abusive" its truly sad that humans can mistreat any of Gods creatures that only love us unconditionally.

@@rachelball1174 Worse; we went on our honeymoon, and my brother in law was feeding our bird. When he stuck a peanut in between the bars of his cage, the bird nipped his finger, and he said 'F*** YOU! to the bird. Of course, birdy picked up this lovely phrase and we came home to F*** YOU! from our wonderful birdy.
