I have one NEMA 14-50 on a 50 amp breaker installed inside my garage for my very first Tesla in 2018, and use a mobile connector to charge. My 125 amp service panel is now full and calculation definitely can’t add an additional breaker. I’m getting a second Tesla vehicle that will always be parked outside in the driveway. Since Tesla does not recommend using mobile connectors outdoors, I am thinking of using this smart NeoCharge splitter to plug a Tesla wall charger installed outside. Is there anything in the NeoCharge splitter specs that prohibit this? Recommendations?

Nelson, as long the NeoCharge will be in the garage (which I think it is based on what you wrote), yes that would be fine. Honestly, I think you can still use the mobile connector outside as long as the plug and main part (which is close to the plug) remain inside, and that only matters when rain/snow are involved. Another option is get a non-tesla branded mobile connector that is rated for outdoor use. Many now come or will start to come with the NACS connector.

Yes, it works great, and they have additional functionality coming through and APP they are designing.

Think twice before buying. Bought the NEMA 14-30 splitter. It will not work on EV car. Will fire up and shit down instantly. Dryer side port works fine. Amp on box is 50 and o issues there. Plugged car directly into dryer plug, no issue there. Contacted Neocharge who says it is aware of software issues and hope to have a fix soon. When trying to get more answers it goes unanswered. Likely going to return the item and just have electrician install another 240 in the garage. The service from Neocharge is non existent. You cannot talk to a human and have to text or email and wait for a reply and when they reply the person on other end disappears.

Good to know! Thanks for sharing. I have not had any issues on mine, but it does seem NEO has acknowledged the issue. I will keep an eye out on this to see if they resolve this.

Hi. My dryer is around 60 feet from the vehicle. Is it at all possible to make this work? I was just about to spend $1350 on an electrician to come and install a new breaker on my panel. And does this charge as a level 2 charger? Thank you.

This could work, but you would need to buy an extension cord (RV Cord) for the outlet type you are plugging into to reach your vehicle. 60 feet is pretty far so this would be a situation where I recommend getting an electrician to wire it for you, as it is not recommended to run an extension cord this long for EV charging, but I have seen people do it. You would plug your dryer and the extension cord into this unit.

I live in an apartment and my garage is right beside the laundry/drying machine. Planning to ask the landlord if I can maybe get this neocharge splitter. Since I'll be charging overnight, chances are no one will use the dryer, but in the rare occasion that they do, at least they can.

What if my laundry room is just on the other side of the garage but not in the garage. Could I rig this to work?

Yes, you would probably need a NEMA 14-50 extention cord for your charger which I have seen several people use. You can find them on Amazon. If you can find UL rated one, that would best! And of course, make sure it is plugged in snug!

What about connecting to Wifi? Mine will not connect.

They are working on putting a new app together, which will help with wifi connectivity and some control of the splitter. It is still being beta tested but should be out soon!
