Interesting how the things that actually get built are always only places for rich people to live extremely luxuriously. Never a nice place for middle class people to live.

I guessed you missed the whole point and the idea flew right above your head Before jumping in conclusions first you do some research before spreading misinformation caused by the laziness of your belly Anyway the project aims to invest in tourism and increase income from outside sources. Thus making the country less reliant on oil and natural gas. In doing so the income of the project must at least match the cost. Middle class does NOT provide significant income. Making the project almost a failure. Next before putting misleading information and making the country look bad do some simple research. Like seriously it takes less than 5 minutes to know the purpose of the project.

This is just a start. More and more projects will soon be completed. Excitement in Saudi Arabia is uncanny. The passion Saudi Arabia's young leadership has is unmatchable across the world. They believe in their dreams and they work day and night to meet deadlines.

Easy when you have unlimited wealth that you never earned and a captive workforce. Once the megarich get bored of this it will turn into every other Saudi megaflop. NEOM will forever be associated with human rights abuses and murder.
@awex7Ай бұрын
what barbaric laws? you meam death penalty for r8pists, murders and child abusers? you mean chopping the hand of the thief? why does the world complain about crime and how bad everyone's country is, but saudi arabia is the safest country in the world with literally zero crime. go to america or Europe and see how injust their laws are. they favour the criminals😂

This will be unsustainable due to a limited amount of rich people who could afford to travel here. The supply of luxury amenities, luxury stores, luxury restaurants, luxury hotels, high end luxury resorts, far outweigh the demand. This is built for the rich and not for the common person. The passion that Saudi Arabia has for advancement and technology is unmatched, but it would be better to build amenities for ALL levels of wealth to enjoy the Luxury lifestyle. The reality is that the poor will provide the luxury services for the rich to enjoy.

The Saudis are making great efforts to transform their economy away from oil. While NEOM is great, the mistake I see in all of Saudi Arabia's projects is that they are all intended for the super rich and the world doesn't have that many of those. This is a fatal mistake!

I can't see "the line" being built as stated: 170km mirrored structure in the desert.
@allanhutton11237 күн бұрын
The problem with the line, is buildings have a limited life span, when you want to upgrade or rebuild any part the entire estate will become isolated from the remainder of the city environment.

Another megaflop in progress to add to the other Saudi megaflops. With all the other options available worldwide why would a rich individual want to visit or, even worse, reside in the middle of nowhere and be subject to the warm embrace of Saudi law?

Cope! You think the world revolves around the west? Western tourists are not the only ones, Chinese tourist are flooding Saudi Arabia, and tourist from other Arab countries as well.
@MehmoodEqbal14 күн бұрын
Hahaha, sour grapes, as they say. The number of tourists that have come to Saudi without any of these projects even being active is crazy. Saudi law is what keeps it safe, People aren't worried about scams or getting pick pocketed when they come. As someone who has travelled a lot, Europe's destinations are infested with crime, and even its architecturally beautiful cities smell of piss everywhere, and service is average at best. I look forward to planning a holiday in some of Saudis' new destinations. Hats off to them.

Initially, the first plans for NEOM were fantastic; I was a big fan. A 100-plus kilometer line would feature various cities based on thoughtful studies of the most livable cities in the world, such as Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and Vancouver. Large enough to meet all needs, yet small enough to always have access to nature. With beautiful (and attainable!) goals in terms of sustainability, it was truly an example for the world. However, then someone introduced the concept of "The Line." It seems bizarre and grotesque. Why suddenly include all this nonsense like in Dubai? Let them build the largest structures; that’s not an art form if you just pay for it. Therefore, Saudi Arabia, start over now before it’s too late. Let the world be amazed by what you can achieve. Show that workers can (or rather, should) work hard if they are treated well. And if it takes a little longer, that’s perfectly fine; the world will be impressed.

Depends how much hotel rooms are , there are a few different hotels 220 rooms at 200 a night 220 at ??? a night .. They have different hotels I guess have different pricing , I know people that go to places in the middle east and spend 2000 for 7 days just hotel.. Plus there a enough rich people in the middle east that holiday in other countrys ... I guess just from Saudi alone many people will visit at least once 740 people to spend one week 53 times , I'm guessing the villas and apartments are for the very wealthy.. and I would guess the villas are a ???? a night while apartments aroundv ??? a night , which would bring around ??????? a year, for 740 rooms and that's without anybody buying anything going Suba driving etc But it also creates job , products and services.. I will go once , if the pricing suits me. That is going to be the thing they have to get right .. I also wanted to add this isnt a 1.5t project , since they are not building a mirror skyscraper for 100 plus kilometres, the cost of the project has reduced and I'm sure they said 30 billion Riyad , which in pounds is 6 billion pounds , and it's not 6 billion for each stage of each project , I can show you a b billion project in similar countrys with similar wages, and trust me a would have to pull a lot of projects to collectively reach 6 billion The cost of building this island is a lot less than you think, The shipping or moving of people machinery , that's a ship that's there everyday , consultants architects , are some unknown cost that I have no idea about but I expect it play a big percentage in overall costs I cound find out but has no realivence for me, the buildings on the island if looking at the island as a whole and counting each room as a building at 50k a room to build comes to 37 million pounds( I'm from the uk so I'm using pounds) I dont know much about foundations for a project like this or at all , but I'm going to have a read today on that topic... So for cost and not value , and being able to fill 418 rooms at 150 per day , minimum actually if we look at each unit at 150 , while a villa is say 4 units and a apartment 3 units hotel room is one unit . Only needing 418 units to be occupied every day of the year, compared to cost, it's quite a sensible investment .. With the red sea beach one being a lot less logistics heavy , I've also seen these projects in other places and know roughly the cost of build that...

So they think people are gonna go to SAUDI ARABIA!?!? to golf and and scuba dive? This is absolutely idiotic
@JenniferAufieroАй бұрын
This is hypocritical. Why make a sustainable resort only for the wealthy or those who can afford to visit. These projects should be implemented in a society where normal people can interact with it and not in isolation at the desert. It would really help prove that sustainable infrastructure is possible if it was put in effect for a city that has normal people like us who commute to work or live! it sucks that this gives the image that sustainability is for the richer... completely missing the point here. and don't get me started on the line or wall project they are doing too. The number of resources it uses to create this giant city is concerning. why not improve what you already built!
