awesome pieces of neon history! glad that they got saved, it would definitely be a waste for them to end up in the landfill. it's damn shame these large neon operations have closed down; most modern beer signs that distributors send out now are just plastic LED garbage.

Yes here in Texas the LED sign biz is busy, but interesting they fail very quickly. Maybe in less than 60 days...lots of old neon out here as the weather in warm.

They had a factory in Dublin Ireland for a couple of years in the 90s. The small yellow and red painted parts were poured on with a paper cup rather than dipped.

@NeonSignStuff yes, from 1995 until it closed in 2005. I used to do the prototypes/ 1st piece samples and teach the new benders.

Replied to the wrong comment! I spent 2 days in the Universal factory. It was a dump. Spent 10 years in Everbrite Europe!

5:26 The decoration pattern on the top and bottom of this O'Doul's sign look interesting. Doing a quick Google search, I unfortunately couldn't find an example of how that would have looked like as a finished sign. 6:15 Do you know what these shapes may be? Some kind of wave? And the tube below looks almost technical. Perhaps it was for a hidden backlight purpose? And thank you for sharing and talking about all these drawings! :)

I didn't even realize the O'Douls is special - now that you mentioned, yes I also could not find a photo of that design! Could be a star or a snowflake or...? I'll have to do more research. @@NeonSignStuff Now that you said it, it really could be a snowflake. Do the technical notes on the drawing mention a snowflake-like color? At first, the pattern just reminded me of something like the decoration of old movie theaters. Something like Art-Deco style. And thank you for the link! Now I can recognize the alligator. (Instead of before, when I only was able to think of something like an ocean wave.)
