Actually in 1989 the supercharged MR2 was genuinely one of the quickest cars from 0-60 you could buy. Somewhere under 7 seconds, which was damn near Porsche and Ferrari territory... For almost 1/4th the price. Today, that would basically be like a

Friend has one of these, awesome little cars, love that supercharger whine and the little green light on the dash for it. The thing was extremely heavy to steer with no power steering at low speed but that's a fair trade off.

Yes, lovely little car. No power steering feeling is great though.

@@NeonBlunders Yeah I didnt get a chance to test the limits in it but I'm sure it is, perhaps im just a weakling or so used to power steering after all these years heh. Doesn't detract from the car, it is what it is. I'm sure alot would argue it's more pure without.

Hey man nice vid, your SC is very audible in this! I see you're in the UK too. I have a AE92 Trueno GTZ with the same engine (but a later gen) but I can't hear the SC at all! I haven't done the pulley upgrade though, did getting the larger pulley make the SC noise more noticeable? Thanks

Awesome cars! Yes, the pulley made a huge difference and I was also running a cone filter (in the boot as per the MK1B intake layout).

Hey man! what an amazing mr2! I was wondering everything that you have that is aftermarket on this? I am looking to get a MR2 but I do not know what to buy to boost the hp. I am looking at the same model car as this too. I just love the way this car sounds and its awesome speed! Keep it up!
@NeonBlunders Жыл бұрын
At the time it was just K&N intake in the trunk, custom made de-cat exhaust, larger crank pulley for higher boost and that was it I believe.

@@NeonBlunders ok great thanks! also, can I supercharge my mr2 that is not supercharged. Its a 1987.
@NeonBlunders Жыл бұрын
@@charliedoyle4063 I suppose you could, however the engine in this car is modified to accommodate the supercharger. Google 4AGZE differences to 4AGE
@SpacehotelMusic Жыл бұрын
@@charliedoyle4063 I've done 2 SC conversions (with the full 4agze kit into NA bodies) but it's much simpler, easier and even cheaper to just swap in the 4AGZE engine, wiring loom, change some bits like engine lid latch (you'll need that engine lid too which is expensive). It's not so simple to just bolt on an SC to the NA 4AGE, the ZE has a lot of stronger parts internally etc to cope.

Is that the stock supercharged model? Or is the car modded?
@NeonBlunders6 жыл бұрын
It's a stock MK1 Supercharger but with an uprated crank pulley for some more boost.

Hey man ive been searching for an answer to this but i cant seem to have any luck. So my sc aw11 isnt currently able to be driven for numerous reasons. Though it does start and run well. Ok so the concern here is that when the mr2 is revved in neutral the supercharger light doesnt come on except for a split second. And no s/c whine is present. So is my supercharger messing up or doesnt the supercharger make boost in neutral position when revved. Do i need to be actually moving to make boost? Appreciate any help cheers
@NeonBlunders6 жыл бұрын
That's normal! Your supercharger is on a magnetic clutch so will only enable when you press the throttle down more than 75%, and obviously you cant hold that for long when revving on the spot. Mine was exactly the same.

Love this video, it inspired me to get a 175 mm pulley from T3. I’m wondering if you ever ran lean or lost power in the low end though, like before 3500 RPMs. Did you ever do any fuel mods or install a grunt box to compensate or did the pulley work perfectly with a stock 4AGZE?
@NeonBlunders5 жыл бұрын

This exhaust was custom made, and is basically the same as stock, except with a resonator delete, no cat, so just the rear silencer. It's quite loud, but doesn't drone. It sounds great. Sorry I can't specify exactly where it's from, as the last owner put it on and all I know is that I was made specially.

Does anybody know the differences were between the JDM, and US MK1 as far as performance?🤔
@NeonBlunders5 жыл бұрын
I believe on the standard cars (so 4AGE) the US cars used a airflow meter and lower compression, making about 116hp. And the JDM cars used manifold air pressure system and higher compression which made around 128hp. I think this was to comply with Cali emissions laws. Not too sure about the Supercharger models.
