Jadzia is the only Dax I recognize. My only gripe with DS9, an otherwise perfect show, is that they had to add Ezri to appease angry Dax fans. They couldn't just make the decision to kill off a character and leave her dead. They made sure their main character was the only one that could pass her memories down before killing off, then made a discount version of her.
@Jarsia5 жыл бұрын
@@axenledgie1423 That the dax symbiote allowed them to essentially recast the dax character was coincidence, not planned. I think what strikes me if the 90s designs meshing with the high quality, honestly. The choices of design and theme were sooooooo much more superior to modern day grim nonsense. In the modern day everything is dark and shiny in the dark and dimly lit. Everything here is perfectly and perfectly captures the atmosphere of DS9. I think for me the best part at 4k is the comet. The way the particles work so well with the panning of the camera into the trail and then out again is spectacular!

Oh man, I was just wondering how this was coming along the other night. Incredible work. The wormhole effect is perfect. The only thing that jumped out as a bit off to me was the Dax credit. With Kira being listed as Colonel, this seems to be leaning more toward S7 title sequence, but if both Farrell and DeBoer are going to be listed, it doesnt seem proper to specify Jadzia or Ezri, rather just list Lieutenant Dax. Also is that work bee floating around without a pilot? Ahh, dont mind me. Nitpicking is in my nature. The whole piece is every bit as stunning as the voyager intro you did. I like that you replaced generic stock model #16 with the courier ship. Also the Defiant's plasma exhaust, engines, lights, etc... powering up in sequence was a very nice touch.
@NeonVisual5 жыл бұрын
The Worker Bee also has no robotic arms to manipulate any external objects, perhaps it's enjoying it's retirement as a non-working bee :-) Try as I might I couldn't source a Bajoran freighter, well spotted!
@Jarsia5 жыл бұрын
@@NeonVisual That freighter model was incredibly overused anyway, I like the Condor/Ju'day(whatever the class of that thing is) better anyway. Even a bajoran impulse craft or something else would have been cool. I also never thought the workbees had arms (seems unimaginative, or as Doug Drexler would say, monkey brained), I always just assumed the glowy blue bit was a tractor emitter. But turns out there were ones with arms on them in generations and that 1 voyager episode at utopia planetia. I was more wondering where the pilot was. Maybe the guys doing the EVA repairs are remote controlling it to grab more supplies from the cargo bay, or they forgot to put the parking brake on, as it were. Watching again, I'm really noticing how much detail there is in the stations windows. From what I know of the physical model, that detail was actually there, but there are precious few shots where you can see it in any but the promenade windows. Again, beautiful work. And just in time for me, as I'm close to season 4 of my DS9 rewatch.

I wish this series had a bigger budget. Most of the series is during the Dominion War but you could always feel the show stretching the budget to the breaking point. @Jarsia5 жыл бұрын
@@NeonVisual I wouldnt ask you to, not without a big ol crowd fund anyway, but I would honestly LOVE to see a good, high quality depiction of the battle of Nerendra III. It's such an important battle in trek lore and we never see a glimpse of it (at least Emissary gave us a quick rundown of Wolf 359). I always imagined the romulans doing quick in and out of cloak strikes. A few disruptor blasts and disappear again, until 1701 C sees a pattern and saturates an area with phaser fire followed by a full spread of proximity detonated photon torps that destroys 1 warbird before it can decloak and get it's shields up. After that the other 3 stop playing games and all decloak and go full bore on the already damaged ship. Flying headlong into the 3 warbirds with barely functional weapons the enterprise feints a hard turn to port, and the lead warbird, expecting them to run, turns to pursue. Expecting this, Enterprise reverses thrusters and turns into the oncoming warbird, which collides with it at the neck, cutting the ship in half, severing a nacelle, and disabling the warbird. The saucer with Yar and the other survivors deflects off the top of the warbird and is thrown in one direction, while the engineering hull is thrown in another direction and catches yes another warbird unawares(think the pegasus launch bay killing the cylon basestar), with the resulting warp core detonation destroying not only that ship, but also the fairly close disabled warbird that collided with enterprise, leaving the last warbird to capture the saucer. That's the most basadd(was gonna correct that typo but, I got a chuckle out of it for some reason) way I can think of for the 1701-C to go down, so it's my headcanon.

Unfortunately that is not possible with our current technology. Since both DS9 and Voyager were shot on tape, you cannot easily get anymore detail than what is already there. Had it been on film, then they would have remastered it. However with that said, there is some major progress in remastering this series as well as voyager with a technology called Deep Learning Super Sampling. The same technology that Nvidia is using in their RTX cards to make games look better can soon be used on video like this to make a "remastered" copy. But it would not be the leaps and bounds like the TNG remaster was. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnrRgp6nos-hapo&feature=emb_title

Great effort to detail and that Worm Hole effect is fantastically spot on! The clarity of everything makes me want to show this on a huge screen. How many people over there worked on this? How long did it take to render? Was it several connected rendered segments or one long one? Can I post this on Twitter to Seth McFarland and the Orville group?
@NeonVisual5 жыл бұрын
Just me! 7 segments in total. The first part with the asteroid was actually the last in my workflow because I was procrastinating over the particle simulations but it came together quickly in the end. Then I did them in order from the first shot after the title card right up until the wormhole, because I was procrastinating out to try creating that too. But generally as I progressed I went back to previous scenes to tinker and re-render a few times. I wasn't intending on uploading for another week or so but I had a day off today so went all creating the DS9 logo, all of the cast credits, some missing sound FX and a quick tinker with my NV logo to the DS9 title colours.
