God Bless you for not skipping over the important details. This is why getting a tutorial from a professional is crucial. Years ago when I first tried dabbling with prof gels and acrylic products as a “KZbin self taught DIYer”, I had no idea that flooding product into your cuticles only to later e-file and add product on top again would cause an extreme serious reaction. My fingers itched so bad for two days to the point scolding hot water was the only relief. Safe to say it was a disaster. I wish I knew that detail before causing a perm allergy to all those products. 😢 Since then I can only use GEL X (the brand) without any reaction, not fair!!! But it’s preventable ladies!! THANK YOU - Never change! ❤

I’ve been watching DIY videos for the past week or so, because I want to learn how to properly and safely apply full-coverage gel tips and have pretty nails again! For years, I had acrylic nails done at a salon, and they were beautiful but so expensive to maintain. This video is definitely the best I’ve seen so far. You went slowly, explained everything in detail, filmed close up so we could actually see what’s being done, and focused on just one nail, instead of rushing through an entire set and doing some things off camera. That nail was beautiful once completed, and there was no sign of the dreaded gap between the base of the nail tip and the cuticle. Seeing people sport sloppily applied nails that scream “fake press-ons” drives me crazy. Thanks, and I look forward to browsing through the rest of your content.

Hi 👋 from the 🇬🇧 I just came across your video. I taught myself to do gel nails about 6 years ago by watching KZbin videos. I have arthritis and Fibromyalgia so it’s getting harder to do but like someone els said, I like having nice nails so will keep doing it for as long as I can. In looking for an easier/quicker way I’ve been looking at Gel X method. By the way, thanks for making it clear to me that Gel X is a brand name and there are others that are the same concept. You explain and demonstrate so clearly every step and the products you need AND without shouting or loud music👏🏻 You know what it’s like though £££ cost wise adopting a new method and getting what you need. I agree with leaving a small gap from the cuticle area. It gives a very neat finish and looks professional. I’m going to cost up what I’m going to need. I need more builder gel so that’s good I can get the soak of next. Any advice you can give me regarding having flat nail beds 🙏🏻💅🏻🫶🏻

I love that you discuss HEMA-free gels and not being able to cure gel underneath opaque covers, and would love a list of brands that are, because the very first time I ever used gel, I had an allergic reaction, and HEMA was the culprit, hence my now gluing gel x covers all made offhand as press-ons. My fave HEMA-free so far is Rosalind, as they have mini-sized polish kits. For any that don't know, HEMA allergic reactions are absolutely NASTY, and if ignored, can trigger further allergies to other ingredients of a similar type.
@mckenziebartlett6977 Жыл бұрын
You should look into Madam Glam! They have amazing HEMA free gels! I’m allergic as well and all of my gel polishes are from them! Though I suggest looking at their ingredients on each of their polishes because every once in a while they’ll have one that isn’t HEMA free. I use Aprés brand extend gel but the sensitive edition one because I don’t have reactions to it! Madam Glam also have a non-acid nail primer that is HEMA free because most actually have HEMA in them! 😊

Hi❤️I love that more men find their way into the nail industri, and show their skills on KZbin. That said I do have a small problem. At it is just ment as kind constructive critisism. It sounds like you are a little confused concerning your liquids. You say acetone, and then also Call it acohol…two completely different things. Acetone is chemically a ketone (and it can infact sometimes contain small amounts of oil, which will make your product lift.) The alkohol we normally use for doing nails is rubbing alkohol (ex. 70 %). This has a dehydrating effect and is never containing oil, which makes it wonderful for doing nails. Just keep the two things apart. ❤️

Heyyy! Thanks so much!!! Lol yes this is something I keep doing! Getting the two muddled up it’s so bad 😭😭😂😂

I use dehydrator and primer before I apply full-cover tips, but not under gel polish (because it makes soak-off difficult). Primer and nail glue don’t play well, either. If you have problems with gel polish chipping, a touch of primer at the free edge will help, but removal will still be easy.

So newbie here. I decided to try to do my own nails at home because the salon had cut me before and I had two fingernails that had green growth that I caught and took those nails off and started the healing process early thankfully. Anyway, I’ve been watching tutorials, and I did not know that you shouldn’t paint the nails on a stand, gel paint, before curing them to your fingers. I was trying to prep the gel nails before sealing them to my nail beds. So I learned a valuable lesson here on your tutorial that they need to be clear in order to cure properly. Too late for me because I already did them. So we’ll see how this goes. Thank you so much for the tutorial. It was very helpful and I appreciate it.

I've been watching nail videos for years...and your nail looked better than 99% of the ones I've seen! It looked so even and natural! Great job explaining your technique! And I've watched enough nail videos to know what you meant when you said alcohol/acetone! 😁

Thank you for this tip!! I’ve been doing my own nails for a while and I always have issues with the cuticle area. Trying to make it seamless and flush is difficult. ❤

It’s so handy! Honestly the best purchase 😅 you can get super affordable ones of amazon but I’d always find I’d get a crazy heat spike from them!

Omg, thank you for this!! I love the so-called gel x nails, but HATE the edge and have not been able to manage it, I never thought of this 😊

You have a nail page !!! And oh mygod how timely - i just got back wanting to care for my nails again since i was afraid of being exposed to gel and got a bad reaction, figured that i got them because i didnt cure fast enough so i wanted to do gel-x. This was so educational thank youuuuu

Hi, nail tech here😊, i think you are all very brave using your non-dominant hand to do the dominant one. After 12 years i still struggle sometimes, so well done guys😘

And using a nail dehydrator inside of the nail will also make it rough prior to application helps too 😊

This is the literal only video of tons that I’ve watched, where you put the builder over top. Game changer. Just have to figure out how to not mess it up on my dominant hand ❤

I WISH we had KZbin and all the nail products we have now when I was younger. I would have had manicured nails all the time. I was in my twenties before acrylic nails became a thing and couldn’t afford to go get them done regularly so I just never messed with my nails. Have been doing my nails at home now for about a year and a half and you are right about using cuticle oil daily and pushing them back makes your nail beds longer. I now have rounded cuticle areas instead of straight across (except the thumbs). Anyway, thanks for putting out videos like these.

I watch your skin care videos and never knew you did nails too. You need to cross promote so more people know! This video was great. You explain things in a way that makes sense to me. Thank you!! Also, that color you used at the end was stunning.

Oh my god, that voice of yours is amazing, it fits so well with the good explanation you give, especially that the gelly tips do not have to be completely against your cuticle but just fill it with a thick gel super tip!! You have a Dutch fan, thanks for the explanation, it is very helpful. Love from Holland 👍💖🥰

Thank you so much for this. I have trouble with gauging how much gel to use to apply my tips, and I was applying them all the way up to my cuticles. I also just developed an allergy to at least one of the products I was using, so I bought HEMA-free products and will follow your steps for my next set of tips.
