This system has honestly been a revolution for me, I've worn 6 sets of Gel X nails on myself so far and I've applied 2 sets on clients. I've got the technique/product amount down to a T so I never have issues with it spilling out the sides, I always file the cuticle down to a perfect blend with first a carbide bit (or hand file) and then a natural nail cuticle bit so the grow out is totally smooth. All 3 of us got solid 3 week wear with 0 lifting whatsoever (and I didn't even file inside the tip, that extend gel is the strongest adhesive gel I've ever encountered, I use it for my crystals now too and I wore a full set of solid pixie crystals for 3 weeks without losing a single gem even though I was working on clients the whole time). I'm a pretty good sculptor and forms are my forte but what this system has really done for me is save me time. I can apply a set of Gel X nails from prep to polish in 1-1.5 hours flat while a sculpted full set takes me 2-3 hours and the Gel X nails soak off completely in 20 minutes tops (compared for 30-40 minutes for acrylic). I offer Gel X to my clients as an "express full set", for the clients who want perfectly shaped and filed extensions but don't want to sit for upwards of 2 hours and for the clients who would rather I spend more time on intricate surface nail art rather than spend 4+ hours on a creative acrylic set. With the skills of a proper nail tech, this product absolutely can be mastered to perfection.

😍 *Love this kit!! I found that if I put on a sculpting form first, I don't have to worry about applying too much gel because it won't flood the back of my free edge with the form on. Also, for the ten second initial cure, I turned the light upside down on the table and was then able to hold the tip down by pinching the very tip, so that the whole nail bed was exposed to the light and would cure evenly. Beautiful set! Tfs!!*

I have been waiting for years for you to demo this kit!!! This company has come a LOOOONNGGG way with their nail designs (shape and length). I got one of the very first kits and they only had short square and short round... they were flat, awkward and not so great. My nail bed ways almost as long as the extension nails. Doing my own was a challenge, but I got better over time. Also, the gel in the bottle used to be in a pot which was a nuisance and messy. I am so happy to see how they have listened to customers and made an attempt to keep up with the nail shape and length trends. I have seen many techs who offer this service to clients who want an alternative to acrylic and traditional gel. One thing I wish they would have expressed in the instructions (for the purpose of beginners) is to select and rough up the inside of the nails in advance. This eliminates the possibility of getting dust in the finished product. Overall I LOVE this product. This is a great service to offer that fairly quick once you get the hang of how it goes. I’m a tech who loves acrylic but be has I am a grad student, these are a wonderful alternative. THANK YOU SUZIE FOR DOING THIS VIDEO

I know your comment is from 6 months ago, but I just found out about this system and found Susie had done a video on it! Can I ask you what type of polish you put on top of these? Do you use regular nail polish? Do you use gel nail polish (and then I guess you have to cure gel nail polish too right - on top of the fake nail?). Also, when they say “soak off”, does that mean in acetone? I’m sorry for all the questions, I was trying to find someone who had watched the video somewhat recently 😅. Thank you so very much regardless! 🥰
@madisonrenee922 жыл бұрын
@@brennatarpley6010 hey! You’re fine for asking so many questions I do the same lmao🤣. But yeah you can use both gel and regular polish I think it’s a little easier to use gel just because you cure it and then you don’t have to worry about dry time lol. And yes the soak offs are done in acetone it basically melts the gel so that you don’t damage your nail by ripping or drilling the gel completely off. Hope this helped😊

@Nickichimney5 жыл бұрын
Isabella G I usually do 10-15 minutes. What’s great is that you can also leave a little bit of product on the nails if you’re applying a new set of Gel-x. But being a nail biter, my nails were always weak and would bend no matter what I tried even after I stopped biting them, and I can say that after one set of these extensions they’re as hard as a rock! With proper removal there should be no damage!
@dashmo375 жыл бұрын
For maximum adhesion you would want to scuff the nail tip to the length of your own nail. I just love this system! I always start with sizing the entire set. Then scuffing them all before I apply. @SeabassFishbrains5 жыл бұрын
She's mentioned before that she files her extensions off instead of soaking and she leaves a thin layer of product on the nail each time so that she doesn't file down to the actual natural nail. This way, the new growth area is the only part of the nail getting filed when she preps them. In order to do this though, you need a nail tech whose prep is absolutely perfect and catered to your nail type/physiology so that you don't have any lifting to remove for each fill. Most of the clients who come to me to get fills on work that was done by other techs have around a quarter of the contact area of their extensions (right around the cuticle) lifted, so I have to remove the lifted parts in order to fill the set.
@hailyweyer32255 жыл бұрын
SeabassFishbrains I never seem to be able to file off acrylic or gel completely. What kind of file or bit would you recommend?
@SeabassFishbrains5 жыл бұрын
@@hailyweyer3225 I like ceramic carbide bits for removing acrylic and non-soak off gel, specifically this one: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DPFUO34/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 And then I soak off the final thin layer so as to not hurt the nail. It's also worth noting that the quality of the drill itself matters, you need to be able to get the drill to a speed where it's effective but doesn't burn the client without the bit stalling out on you. I also recommend 80 grit hand files for removing or debulking acrylic. And for removing lifting specifically, I like to use my Enail Couture Pink Diamond Cuticle bit turned up to a higher speed than I would use on the natural nail so that I can very precisely carve out the lifted bits and blend down the remaining edge.
@mayahicks40135 жыл бұрын
I love working with this product. Its great. Some great tips if you haven't heard yet. Less product on the tip, no worries about place it on there if theres bubbles since you'll push them out. These babies are tough as nails (pun definitely intended lol) I Am really rough with my hands as I do Instacart shopping for groceries all day bagging and delivering groceries is pretty hard on the nails and I’ve never once had one of the Aprés nails break or pop off. I love these and I’ll never go to the mail salon again. Another plus is the sculpted ones give you such a beautiful c curve and if you file them down to a natural almond shape they literally look like they are growing out of your skin that way. So natural and gorgeous I love them. Totally worth the money. I also wouldn’t recommend getting a dupe either. You pay good money for these for a reason. The dupes aren’t gonna be as strong or as quality of a material as these are. Well worth every penny.

You can minimize the amount of product that gets squeezed out at the cuticle area by not applying as much near the edge. During application just keep the product a smidge away from the edge of the tip.

Hi! I watched your video and I´m an educated nailtechnician. I bought the nailkit and it´s really easy and fast to do BUT if you, like me, have spoonformed nail you have to use a bit more gel in the middle. I was nearly going crazy before I figured it out. I did get a lot bubbles and that was bothering me. Don´t want a greenie :). So I tried using more gel and it worked. Really a great system, you can get your nails done very quickly. Regards from Sweden :)

Apres nails is great, a huge improvement over any other system for the DIYer. You can also use their tips with a bead of acrylic, I've been doing this now for half a year or so, but I have to put out this warning - the natural nail will lift from your nail bed if you cure with their gel any more than the specified time! Be VERY careful about the timing. I went 15 seconds longer, took me months to grow out the damage, thought I had a acquired a fungus from how bad it was, and I'm not allergic to the product.

this was Fun to watch. I have never been to a salon and don’t plan to lol. I buy press on nails in *Full-cover & it helps my nails grow out while protecting the natural nail. Usually I will use a nail Stand to design & paint the press ons & put them under the lamp to cure. Lastly apply the press ons once everything dries☺️. Lasts a long time & never messy

Hi, I was wondering if you could do a video where you show how to clean your hand files and other nail tools, for the people doing their nails at home?
@vcamie87555 жыл бұрын
You should not be cleaning and reusing files, unfortunately files really are one use items even if your re-using them on yourself. They can harbor bacteria and you will spread it from nail to nail. This is what happens when you get a greenish-brown-black spot under the enhancement, it's a bacterial infection. Just buy a cheap pack of 100/180 files and use a new one each time. For stainless steel tools, you can buy barbicide and mix it according to the directions, water first and then add the disinfectant to the water. Scrub debre from the tools and soak. Tools must soak for ten minutes, then rinse and dry. That is the proper way to do it if you really want to do it right.
@solcinalli4 жыл бұрын
@@vcamie8755 I saw an stainless steel file, with "stickers" that were the actual file. I thought that might be better, because you only have to take off the sticker, desinfect normally the steel, and then put on a new one! Less material to throw out, a little bit more friendly to the environment

And alot more work also. I'll stick to my large lamp and regular gels and acrylics. Just my preference
@samhugh49655 жыл бұрын
Jeanette O flaherty, no, it’s waaaaaaaaay less work than acrylics or gels. And forget that small lamp. I don’t use it. I can put a set on in less than 15 min, and that’s on myself. The small lamp is to flash cure it, but I use my regular lamp for that. There’s a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it’s amazingly fast. Also, I don’t bother etching the underneath of the tip anymore as they stay on just fine without it.

The full coverage nails are made of gel, so you’re getting a sculpted gel set without having to sculpt and shape. But because they’re made of gel u can fill them in once they grow out and file and reshape

Is it ok to use different products for an acrylic or gel application ?
@samanthapopen31362 жыл бұрын
My best advice is to get a gooseneck led light. Shape the nails by filing to make them match your natural nail. I also keep all the soft gel at the cuticle of the apres nail, hold it tight to your cuticle (so it doesn’t seep out onto your cuticle) and bring it down so the soft gel goes to just the very edge of your free edge. The soft gel is supposed to fill in the gap to create the apex. You don’t want to smoosh it down into your nail.
@lG-gh3py5 жыл бұрын
I always had a hard time with these, always peeled off. I figured it was me and faulty prep work but I tried polygel after that and never had lifting.

I’ve watched a lot of people using this system and also a hack to it too .. very informative! I do know that little lamp is only supposed to be used as a quick flash cure for each nail then when done with all fingers ur suppose to use a normal 48 watt lamp to fully cure all nails at once . Also noticed in all vids that ur not suppose put a lot of the gel in tip to over flood it and then once put it down on nail at angle to not lift the nail back up cause that’s what causes flooding of gel on cuticles and bubbles in the gel on nail . 😊 Just some info thought would let u know from all vids I have seen doing this repeatedly and getting use to it 🥰 Hope helps 💋

Hi Suzie! If you don't have a round tip or an electric nail file, use a straw! Tear off the end, just one layer, of a cardboard nail file. Apply double-sided tape or a drop of glue to the paper side, and wrap it around the end of a straw. Voila! You have a round nail file! Enjoy! 💖A
@penneysanderson92775 жыл бұрын
Hi Suzie, First off have to say I love watching your channel! I have learned a lot from you. I will be moving to B.C. next spring and hope to drop by your salon, and take a work shop with you. As for the Apres DIY kit, I love it. I have done a few sets on myself now and will continue to use this product. I used to be a nail tech back in the 80s and 90s, but have not sculpted since then. I'm more into gel now and just diy. Using the Apres products, its easier to have all tips sized and roughed up and ready to go before I prep my nails. I do one hand at a time. When putting the extend gel on the tip I do not cover the length of my nail. What I do is apply enough at the cuticle area for my nail, then I apply the top at cuticle and roll it down my nai eliminating any bubbles. This way I do not have gel squishing out the sides. The only place excess gel goes is at nail top area which is easy to brush off and no gel touching the skin. I will say I do not use the little lamp that comes with the kit. It's hard to use when doing them on yourself. I use my big led lamp. This way I can hold my finger in front of the lamp for a few seconds and then let go and nuke (cure) the rest of the time, no muss no fuss. Thanks for letting me go on about Apres but I love love love this product and will forever use.

So these are basically press on nails? I know they'll last longer than regular press on nails but I checked out the price and it's $107. That seems pretty dang high for glue on nails even if the glue is a gel product.
