@australiananarchist4804 жыл бұрын
yeah when he mentioned you can pick which tube to use, that was my first thought. Possibly useful for hunting too? Say, buckshot in one tube and birdshot in the other, then you can essentially hunt both at the same time. Also a military/police application i just thought of! Beanbag rounds in one, lethal rounds in the other. In a hostage situation, you can quickly switch between the lethal rounds for definite threats, and beanbags for potential threats. Or in a riot, (topical ik) fire beanbags, and then if an armed criminal pops up, go for the lethals. The possibilities with this are endless!

@@Brawler_1337 they definitely don't mag fed shotguns are great...until you need to actually use them in the field those mags are fucking huge and insanely heavy. You can at most carry a 25 rd drum and 1-2 10 rd mags but those will add so much weight and clumsiness the drum you'll have to abandon as you can't keep it anywheres but in the gun and carry it and the 10 rd mags will cover basically all the real estate on your vest. Tubes are faster to reload than mags, can easily be topped off, and you can carry 100 rds of shotshells on your kit, belt, in bandoliers,loose in pouches etc. However you want really far less clumsy and far far lighter the mags alone empty for shotguns are a few pounds which is a fuck load

The most impressive thing in this whole video is the intact plastic. I have confirmed that there are at least 6 of these shotguns in my country, and all of them have plastic furniture that has cracked and broken simply by virtue of being cheap plastic. I have a KSG and it's a great shotgun. If Keltec were to incorporate some of the features of the Neosted 2000 into the KSG, they would have a really great gun. What I like about the KSG is the manual tube selector. In the center position, it actually blocks both tubes from feeding rounds to the chamber. This is actually a great safety feature as it allows you to extract an unfired shell from the chamber without cycling another from the magazine into the chamber. The only other shotguns I am aware of that have a feed stop feature are the Benelli Novas.

@BadlanderOutsider6 жыл бұрын
There's several reasons: the first is that a bullpup isn't really necessary for most people who want shotguns; the primary sales of shotguns outside of the US is for sporting use and so NEEDING a shorter gun isn't really necessary; useful in some circumstances, but worth developing whole new guns? In addition, many countries have barrel and overall length restrictions on their shotguns, so this can work against it in many cases by limiting the market which is one of the reasons why Kel-Tec made their very long version of the KSG. Military units also typically do not use shotguns in an offensive capacity and so a shortened pump action shotgun can fill the utilitarian role (though some units have used bullpup shotguns, they tend to be specialists). In addition there's cost; a bullpup shotgun tends to cost more than a regular one, and if you have to buy, say, three hundred shotguns for a police department, would you rather grab off the rack Mossberg 590s or go for three hundred bullpup shotguns? On that note, training is another issue, though one that can be managed. However most people buying shotguns for military or police purposes are replacing old inventory and so the benefits would have to outweight the problems of retraining with a brand new manual of arms. There's also the mechanical concern; bullpup shotguns tend to be a bit more complicated than normal ones, and when one of the strengths of a shotgun is mechanical reliability, this again works against it. You can argue that the extra magazine capacity is worth it, but a Mossberg 590 with a 20 inch barrel is already quite compact and has a decent magazine for practically any domestic situation encountered by most law enforcement across the world; and where extra firepower is needed, police typically carry short barreled rifles and carbines. There are more and more of them out there than before, however; I think several Turkish companies are producing bullpup shotguns based off several actions for instance, plus you have the KSG and the K12 Chinese Bullpup shotgun has had some success in Canada.

Being able to switch between two ammo types is great! The gun is a little complicated, but not much more than it needed to be... I want one!

I thought it was incredibly unfortunate when I heard Mr Neophytou say he's a harsh critic of this design. Such a cool system. I think it deserves to be built with better materials and sold in great numbers.

This is a very interesting concept. I can see a lot of bits that are not ideal in material choices or implementation but you get that issue in pretty much everything new. It’s too bad that this didn’t take off more and have a few generations of development behind it to really show its potential.

Never in my life have I seen a firearm that is more tailored made for my unnecessarily eccentric, yet practically minded desires! A double top tube mag, bull pup pump shotgun with a fixed bolt/sliding barrel action, optic mount, and absurdly cool s00per future gun looks? It's like they read my mind!!! I seriously, SERIOUSLY, legitimately want to get my hands on one of these before I 'go to the light', I could just take it apart and stare at it for hours...

I waited patiently for years to get one of these. I had heard about them in 89'-90' I believe. Later on I it was mentioned in Machine Gun News that Ithica may be manufacturing them in the USA...Sadly, that never happened and it wasn't until Keltec made their KSG that the twin tube bullpup shotgun was a reality here in the US. I then waited years again to get one, as availability and price stopped me from purchasing one. Bullup shotguns are everywhere today, and at some ridiculously low prices. Would still love to have the Neostead though, what a cool collector piece.

Could you reduce complexity by doing away with the recoil-operated slide unlock? Replace the release button with a bigger lever release mechanism, similar in concept to the release levers on some lever action rifles, that you operate on every stroke when you pump forward.
@garygenerous89826 жыл бұрын
andymac4883 alternatively you could have the equivalent of the 1911 grip safety in the slide which would accomplish the same thing with out the complexity of the recoil driven system but at the same time you wouldn’t have to manually operate a push button every time you wanted to rack the slide
@TruthSeekerD6 жыл бұрын
Or you could have it lock when cocked and automatically unlock when uncocked/fired like conventional pumps. Adding an unlock button that has to be depressed is a recipe for disaster under stress. Kinda like a KSG safety.. if you're used to an 870 the ksg will get you killed.
@andymac48836 жыл бұрын
Gary Generous That's about the sort of direction I was thinking; something easier to operate than a button, so that it's move convenient to do for each pump. Though for safety's sake I think it would have to be something you can only operate during the action of working the pump, rather than something you can operate simply by holding the fore end.
@andymac48836 жыл бұрын
TruthSeekerD Oh I agree about the unlock button being a bad idea if it has to be used on every stroke, but what about something similar in concept to the lever latch on an 1895 Winchester? Then again a lock on cock system would also work pretty well, as far as I know at least.

This must be IMHO the longest explanation on how a fire arm functions, that I have ever seen on your channel. Some info I completely understand some I had to rewind lol but in any case it was very interesting and educational. The shot gun is futuristic in appearance but also simplistic which completely contradicts its functionality but It's definitely 💯 cool! 😎
