those are Heliamphoras, gorgeous plants and not that hard to grow : they are tropicals plants mostly from Venezuela, they mostly live on tepuy (very special geologic formation) and they love humidity, high level of light and relatively low temperature (around or under 20C) they grow well with higlanders.

I dont know if youve tried, but growing them in a ziploc tented with exhaled breath seems to really give seedlings a real boost. It doesn't seem to make them any taller, just more plump and healthy. @BradsGreenhouse10 жыл бұрын
Viable ....nope, I luck out about 50% of the time, but even the even the "fresh" ones aren't always viable I find. Look for online carnivorous plant dealers and see what they have in their seeds section. Carnivorous plant forums always have a for sale section from other hobbiest, eBay sometimes has some.

Do you have any Nepenthes Argentii growing?
@Hlefordleas8 жыл бұрын
I understand that most of your seeds germinated about 1 month from planting seeds. I could say i'm newbie grower. I have tried to grow nepenthes begining from seed a few times, but i failed(i assume). So i want to ask that, how much time should past before i consider that these seeds won't germinate.
@skyrat38167 жыл бұрын
I've been told nep seeds can germinate between 2 months to a year. I'm a newbie as well and got seeds of some ventricosa hybrids last July. I had one of the ventricosa Rebecca soper seeds start to germinate on damp kitchen paper but think I had have lost it amongst some sphagnum and may of transferred it too early. But the best advice an experienced grower has told me about carnivorous plants is not to throw anything awway and be patient. So am continuing to dampen my seeds and see what happens. But would be an idea how to tell if the embryo in the seed is still viable or not.

Are the baby pitcher plants feedable
@thegreatgoblin18717 жыл бұрын
I would imagine so, I have some tiny pitchers on one of my plants that take fruit flies (Drosophila hydei) and there are even smaller fruit flies that are cultivated. My plants seem to thrive on fruit flies that escape my Dendrobates tanks. As long as the baby pitchers have an opening that could fit maybe a single Dosophila megaloster, they should be able to eat.

@koshi11610 жыл бұрын
Damstershark75 I highly doubt his rajah is going to be catching any rats in his greenhouse, as rodents are not attracted to the pitchers. Any rodents inside of Nepenthes was due to their own carelessness, so it is highly unlikely for a rodent to be trapped in a Nepenthes in a greenhouse. The smell of the insects will not be any worse than any of his other Nepenthes, so it will be nothing new. It is also worth noting Nepenthes really dont smell that bad as the prey is usually completely submerged by the fluids which keep the scent in quite well.

@@jewiesnew3786 I keep it moist and leave it in full sun, which kills or suppresses any mold. I had mold issue when it was growing as babies and I got rid of it with natural fungicide that is made with plant acids/tannins that wont harm seedlings.
