I have this species and its literally insane! When it got here it only has 2 pitchers. 1 year has passed and it exploded to 30 or more.

The thing I find cool is the fact that because it can digest leaves means it can digest other carnivorous plants making it the highest plant on the food chain
@PsillyShrooms3 жыл бұрын
Might be an underdog, but it has the last laugh
@apdroidgeek17372 жыл бұрын
It can’t digest plant, the animals that lives inside the pitchers eat them which transformed into poop which transformed into nitrogen. its like sarracenia purpurea.

There are NO house plants better than Nepenthes not anthurium philodendron or alocasia. To successfully grow a pitcher to full size is a Growers dream

How does it produce so many base pitchers ? Aren't the pitchers formed at the leaf ends ?

My (windowsill) N. ampullaria catch bugs from time to time, but I add leaf bits sometimes. Good idea?
@ethanrotheram10963 жыл бұрын
Are leaf bits a kind of animal or are you saying you feed your plant other plants? I mean I’ve done that before, I imagine it’s fine on rare occasion as it can happen in the wild.
@zect5563 жыл бұрын
These plant also catch dead leaf, that’s why the top leaves don’t cover the pitch.

i know when it vines the leaves get bigger but why do some basal rosettes produce tiny almost non existent leaves while some produce much larger leaves compared to pitcher size ratio i cant seem to find a specific variety that only makes small leaves have you noticed any variety that is exclusively small leafed.
@JaysCarnivores Жыл бұрын
If they don't produce digestive enzymes, then how do they actually eat? I've been looking into this one and I've actually been wanting it for a long time, so I want to know.

Wow they're so cute! Nice collection dude. Btw I have a question: How important is air flow? I have my 2 neps in a fish-tank terrarium with a lid partially sealed, so the humidity gets to 60% ~ 70%. However I also have a little CPU fan, but when I turn it on the humidity completely escapes. I don't want things to rot... but I'm also struggling to keep the humidity up.
