Worth noting that you can turn the aux fans down - "silent", "normal" and "violent". Judging by the other reviews, this one was set to the "violent" default. They are 40x20mm fans, though, so it _should_ be possible to replace them with Noctuas (especially with their new 24v adapter).

@@andrewfisher5303 - I'm not sure these are blower fans? I haven't seen inside yet, but their own site says they're 4020s, which suggests they're standard fans and the enclosure provides the ducting.

Got my neptune 4 in UK over a week ago. This is my first 3D printer and I love it. Speeds are insane. I have cancelled today preorder of prusa MK4 due to them postponing shipment by another 2 weeks (6 weeks additional delay since preorder), still considering MK4 when they get their act together. I paid for Neptune 4 little less than 220GBP with free shipping - crazy low price.

I like your videos. Showing only a presliced benchy print is not enough for a review (and other prints showed for a few seconds in camera). It's only a suggestion, try to show more printed models and what are your takes (experiences) while making them, at the end, the most important thing to consider is "how good they are doing their work", right? The rest, can be found in the manufacturer's brochures.
@Ben-fk9ey
@Ben-fk9ey Жыл бұрын
Yea I gotta agree, I watched this video once then came back to it before buying one to see how it prints. Only having a benchy as a live print example and then two other finished ones is a bit of a small sample size. Maybe some stress testing footage of doing some difficult prints super fast would be good.

I just bought an Anycubic Kobra 2 and it is an upgrade over my last slinger. Despite the auto leveling on it, I think I might sell it and buy this Neptune 4. It just needs auto bed leveling and it will be perfect.

If I'm not mistaken, the bed is auto levelling plus auxillary levelling, the base neptune 3 seemed to be touch and go with the auto levelling and without the auxillary knobs I imagine it was frustrating, doesn't surprise me that they added them for the 4.

I'd love an Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro that has a 300 mm cube build volume. I can think of a few other improvements such as WiFi and a 4 wire CANbus cable to the extruder instead of a floppy ribbon cable, and force sensor for auto bed leveling and Z offset. I was leaning toward a Creality K1 Max to print ABS but I like the lower cost and easier maintenance on an open architecture bed slinger. Maybe I should convert my ABS parts to PETG and stick with a new and improved Klipper bed slinger with higher print quality, better part cooling and a bit faster printing although I'm more concerned with print quality.

I also have the printer and am happy with it so far. However, 3DJake probably sent me a used printer at full price. It seems that every fast 3D printer this year has its own high flow nozzle that is almost a Volcano but isn't. We already had a good standard in the Volcano and nozzles of all diameters were already readily available, including hardened steel versions for abrasive materials. Why did every manufacturer create a new proprietary nozzle for each new printer?

@@3DJake_Official - Give it a few months and Micro Swiss will make nozzles for all of these proprietary nozzle designs, so there really wasn't much point in every manufacturer making a proprietary design. On the low end, there will be no name generic nozzles on Amazon for all of these printers, too. It takes 20 minutes to change an existing nozzle CNC file. It's just stupid.

I have a question which I haven't been able to get an answer to even on Elegoo's official site . What is the acceleration of the Neptune 4 and 4 pro ? This is an important one as if the acceleration is slow its not going to be able to get up to its top speed in a lot of prints . It's great it can do a benchy in 19 min ( wasn't 18 as it was 18.55 ) but so can some other printers if the layer height is set at .25 or .28mm . The true test is how quick can it print a .2mm layer Benchy plus what is its acceleration? Its almost certain that the printer rarely reached 250mm/s doing the benchy as is too small a print to be able to get up to that speed; this is where the acceleration comes into play . I am not saying its a bad machine by any means but its hard to compare if you don't know all the specs of a machine. I know the Anycubic Kobra 2 acceleration is around 2500-3000mm . The X1 Carbon from memory is 20000mm. So naturally if you put the 2 side by side the X1 should print similar prints quicker than the Kobra 2 even if they are printing at the same print speed cause the X1 can get up to that speed quicker. I know this is obvious stuff but is handy to know if your trying to compare printers in the same price range. Yes , I know the X1 is more expensive ; I was just using it as an example on acceleration speeds. So back to my question; what acceleration does the Elegoo Neptune 4 pro do ??

@@whitetailtherapy7908 that Is part of the firmware and won't effect the slicer as long as you make sure to disable acceleration control and that minimum layer time is not too high in the slicer and let the firmware handle it. The manufacturer seems to have chosen the marketing path for this model. Adjusting the table is good. A disposable heavy extruder is bad. Namely, the manufacturer made it disposable in pursuit of relief (unsuccessful, but more on that in the end). Gears are now original and unassembled, and it is impossible to buy them even in the official store)) The quality of the gears is not very good and, of course, they are NOT hot (like steel, not magnetic, it looks like stainless steel), so do not try to print composites. At the same time, the plate of the table carriage remained steel (aluminum would be 20 grams lighter and not worse). The nozzle heater is now also rare, in size 16*15*20 mm. So I still have to look for replacement socks. And the native sock crumbles after two weeks of work at 255 degrees. The LED on the extruder is cool, but I feel it will die because of working in extreme thermal mode. For the same reason, the inductive sensor of the auto-level of the table will also die. On Neptune 3, the same one died after several heats of the table to 85 degrees (the printer is in a passive thermal chamber). If you plan to print petg and abs, then buy a pair of spare NPN NC type. Do not try to find the original ones, they, like the gears, are also not in this store or in others)))) The nozzle radiator fan is now 3010 (instead of 4015), works at much higher speeds and will die sooner. Fortunately, if you file everything superfluous in the extruder, you can find a place for the cooler 4015. Super blowing is not needed, because there is no question about the quality of printing at the stated speeds, so we have 4 unnecessary 4020 snails. And I also decided to weigh the extruder assembly ... (in the advertising picture, the seller boasts of the extruder's weight of 291 grams, which is like a hundred grams less than Neptune3). And so. The extruder assembly actually weighs (!) 472 grams! In general, there will be no long-term high-quality work at the maximum declared temperature characteristics, there is also no need to wait for speeds, and it is better to buy Neptune3, which is much cheaper and more maintainable.
@dots2394
@dots2394 Жыл бұрын
The practical printing turned out to be somewhat better than I expected. The quality begins to be noticeably lost at speeds as much as 100 mm / s, which is very decent, despite all the jambs. The list of which I will probably continue. The z-axis guides moving along the screw axes have a backlash of 2 millimeters. It must be eliminated, while avoiding the rigid attachment of these guides. The system loads from 30 seconds to 3 minutes. The screen freezes very often when the buttons are pressed (usually for a couple of seconds, but sometimes up to 10 seconds). Occasionally, after pressing the buttons, the required action does not occur. It is impossible to press several different buttons in quick succession. There is no menu for setting jerks and accelerations, and what the manufacturer has screwed up by default, it's scary to think, given what he "calculated and projected" print speeds. We'll have to manage this from the slicer. An adjustable table is probably a good thing. but. 1. Two-stage calibration of the table at 121 points is too long, namely 10 minutes from start to restart to save the parameters (without a final reboot, the table map is not saved). About half a minute of this time is spent by the printer on unnecessary trips from the zero position to the same zero position. By the way, before printing, the printer also goes home twice for some reason. 2. the alignment interface is made completely incomprehensible. Visualized is not a logically obvious square of 11 × 11 points, but an incomprehensible rectangle of 6 × 11 points. the zero count on the z axis does not come from any particular angle and/or level, but floats all the time according to an incomprehensible algorithm and it takes a crazy amount of time to truly align the table! The first time it took me 5 hours of almost continuous attempts, the second time a few days later I managed in 3 hours. This is a procedure that should take 15 minutes! moreover, I understood the process of achieving the result very vaguely and, even having achieved success, I cannot explain it (which means I cannot repeat it quickly).
@dots2394
@dots2394 Жыл бұрын
It was only possible to understand that you need to turn in the corners where the value is minus counterclockwise, and where the value is positive - clockwise, but only in one corner and a little bit. By the way, the Z-offset is reset when calibrating the table and needs to be reconfigured too. 3. The heating of the table and the extruder has really become more efficient. However: If you change the calibration temperatures of the nozzle and table through the standard settings, then instead of calibration, the printer hangs tightly after heating. The settings of the preparatory temperatures of the table and the nozzle for the accelerated start of printing do not work here at all, since if you turn on the preheating of the table and the nozzle, then before printing the printer to turn on the heating of the table to the operating temperature... Attention!.. It will wait for the nozzle to cool down to 120 degrees)))) In general, compared to neptune3 pro, very ambivalent impressions. However, the disappointment from the shortcomings is gradually compensated by the fact that in fact the neptune 4 is about 1.5 times faster than the neptune 3 pro with the same print quality.

@@bluekblueczek886 besides the neptune 4, the Ankermake M5C and Creality Ender 3 V3 KE would be good choices. Yes we deliver to Poland :)

Tough call. Depends on what you're printing because the Kobra 2 Pro has a PTFE hotend so no high temp filaments. The Neptune 4 and Pro both have 300C hotends and also way better cooling but are not as fast as the Kobra 2 Pro. Neptune 4 has only 5K mm/s2 acceleration but the Kobra 2 Pro has 20K. It can print a lot faster...hmnm yeah tough call.

@3DJake_Official I'm actually looking at the plus models I think the n4plus has 12000 acceleration vs the kobra 2 plus 10000 would I be right in that

@3DJake_Official 11 ай бұрын
@@davidmulhall3187 Yeah that's right, a difference of 2K acceleration is actually not that much in practice so again we come to the hotend issue. I would be more in favour of the Neptune 4 Plus because of that.

On its "Violent" settings yes, it is, but you can turn it down. I would suggest only using that setting for the highest speed on smaller PLA prints.
