Note... I say this is harder than the Simpson sand... but I might be looking back at the Simpson with rose coloured glasses.... Im not sure.
So, another weekend of sand! This was a day around Little Desert, in the north-west of Victoria (Australia). This day was a challenge... footage might be a little boring for some.
The Tenere 700 turned out to be awesome by the end of the weekend. Im loving this bike. You can expect a glowing review soon!
The next video will be a bit more interesting as we head north into Wyperfeld. There was more wildlife and better scenery up there... plus the sand is a little lighter so the riding is a bit more fun!
Cheers
Nerb

My first sand ride was also on an unloaded WR250R and I struggled too. Second sand ride was on a Husky FE501, which was so much easier. The extra power really helps. Once in 3rd gear, the front wheel sits up on top of the sand and you can steer with the rear. I'll keep sand training on the 501, before I try sand on a loaded ADV bike. Nerb is very skillful and makes it look easy.

I use a sony fdrx3000. 1080p, 60fps, 60mbit. I think its 140° fov. I would film in 4k, but 30fps is too slow for fast moving footage imo. I think sony has discontinued their action cam lineup which is very disapointing. They are miles better than gopoo. It is absolutely reliable.

Please explain your thoughts on running lower pressure in the front compared to the rear. I’ve been a desert racer for years and we always run 2ish psi higher in the front. I’m curious what I’m not understanding about this.
@Nerb1
@Nerb1 3 жыл бұрын
The reality is, no one has told me otherwise! My theory was that I want to go as low as possible without spinning the beads on the rims. Fronts I am comfortable down to 10 or so. Rear has all the power going to it, so I wasnt game to go lower. Generally dont go much under 20. Honestly, I would love to hear from someone with experience as to what I should try.

Thanks for you kind words about my bike. 🤣 I gave the bike a complete going over including new rear shock, chain sprockets and wheel bearings. Obviously fixed the subframe as well. The oil problem was due to my lack of attention to detail and a loose hose clamp. Once fitted back in place properly it performed well and without fault. It isn't the best bike for the job, however it is smaller than the AT which I thought I'd struggle on more in the sand.
