Nice job, mate. I remember doing my FZR 1000 Valves back in 1990. What a nightmare, 20 valves and half of that motorbike in pieces on the pavement. The list with my measurements and calculations was quite complicated as well. In the end everything worked out, but I never did it again after that! Will probably do it on my Tenere when the time comes, 8 Valves is not too bad. Thanks for posting the video of your work, Now I know how to approach it. Cheers from Germany.

Are those tracks seasonally closed or not that far into the national parks area?

When talking fasteners we are concerned with tension, not torque. In order for there to be an change in bolt tension there must be torque AND displacement. As far as I can tell your method will only apply a static torque to the bolt and there will be no displacement causing little or no change to the amount of tension.

Do not throw your money away changing the sockets. This will only make 2 results: 1. this will improve starting off (launching) 2. this will increase your RPM in top gear at highway speeds. Changing the sprockets is changing the final gearing on your cycle. Changing the final gearing means nothing. What really matters is overall gearing. Overall gearing is everything from the engine to the rear tire. Overall gearing is a affected by these areas: 1. Manual Transmission 2. Drive sprockets (final gearing) 3. Tire size (actually have to change rim diameter to change tire size much) It is a very common misunderstanding that changing the sprockets will mean you'll always have lower gearing. That is not true. You have a manual transmission. That allows you to have what ever gear ratio you want. If you like the power of low gearing then don't shift until redline for all I care. Shifting at redline is not what you really want unless you are drag racing. My point is you can decide how high you want your RPM to go before shifting. If you like low RPM for fuel efficiency shift early and keep your RPMs low. Once you get in top gear you can't shift up any more. That's why I say changing the sprockets will affect the RPM on the highway.

How does the clearance get smaller with wear? Wouldn’t it get larger because the parts are wearing and the gap is getting bigger?
@Nerb115 күн бұрын
The shim does not wear. The pars that wears is the valve to the valve seat, inside the cylinder, making the valve move higher and higher. This closes up the gap.

I haven't taken the tank of the T7, only on our XT250. It's really not that bad. Is it really that bad for the T7? From experience working on our other vehicles, I can say that sometimes trying to take a shortcut is not worth it. You'll wish you had just taken everything off like the service manual suggests.

So, filtering in QLD is for slow or stationary traffic and we may not go above 30kph, regardless of whether the traffic is moving or not. Lane splitting is an irrelevant term really.

Got Peters (Engineer) number from this video and he welded some tabs on my 1090 to strengthen the footrest bracket, I use the power cell brackets, I can now use 4 bolts each side. Thanks for sharing his details, he’s definitely a legend.
