Normal tires get hard in the cold meaning you lose grip if you don't drive fast enough to heat up the rubber. In Sweden you usually have "spiked" tires to drive i the winter. You want a skinny front tire to cut thru the snow. Next time cobble together side skies they are hell a fun

I have my phone charging in the tank bag (so I dont charge overnight usually). The phone will be running wifi and whatever apps you are using so it will use some battery. I just googled battery usage with wireless AA and a lot of people say it uses a lot... 400 to 500mAh.

I did find a use for Waze's showing other users on the map thing, and that was when there were road closures because of wildfires here where I live. It was showing me people were going over a bridge that supposedly was closed, where a fire had been. The official channels only updated the information the next day, but it saved me a big detour at the end of the day.

@ride4adventure24 күн бұрын
You can turn off some of that info. Waze is really designed portrait mode to give you a better view ahead. Landscape makes it hard to see. Not great for your Nav device. Also when you navigate to a location, you get a better view of streets, I mostly use it in the city to show speed cameras and Police ahead.

I’ve seen a lot of pads that are just too thick. Weird how they do that.
@yorkchris1024 күн бұрын
I was surprised to see videos on how to use Waze. There are a lot of settings apparently. I was under the impression Waze used data from transport agencies where there was scheduled detours. I think Google must have bought Waze for the vehicle intracommunication trials. I remember listening to the radio going to work where'd announce accident sites and road congestion.
@wobblysauce22 күн бұрын
It is gamification. Waze is mostly user-generated. Users know the roads and speed limits, and when a large number of users travel slower in a section, they can produce traffic congestion. We also added User traffic updates, Crashes/Police, and roadworks. Then, others were asked if it was still there, and it has slowly decayed over time since the last update. Waze is good when in the City/has reception, but when you go rural it loses its use vs any other downloaded map, as it is only live data.

I’ve figured out your issue with the Front Pads Nerb. Ferodo FDB2018 and EBC FA181 recommend a pad width of 94mm and thickness of 7.5mm for the T7. Bendix’s listing is incorrect as the MDB0643 is 94mm x 9mm giving you 3mm too much pad. These are a pretty common Brembo pad and fit a bunch of different Euro bikes. Mainly KTM’s which may accommodate the thicker pad. Unfortunately the particular caliper used on the T7 does not.
@Nerb123 күн бұрын
Wow, interesting. It was definitely 9mm because I measured it incase it was thicker than what the packed said. So I should make sure i only get 7.5mm thick pads from now on. I usually buy metal gear 30-048-S2... just looked them up and they are 7.5mm. So thats why I havnt had an issue before. Good find Dave

I took the reservoir lid off as I had to remove fluid from it when i pushed the pistons back. A g-clamp wont make them go back further than the body. They were flush with the body. As I said, this is my 5th or 6th set of pads on this bike and this is the first set that didnt fit.

With Waze there is a way to declutter all that crap and all the notifications. It's buried but it's there. I find Waze is better for crowd sourced data like where cops and speed traps are or finding detours when there is heavy traffic for daily commutes. It usually beats google by a few minutes most of the time. Google is much cleaner and looks better overall. It's better for when you are going somewhere new and aren't familiar with the route you're on. Off-road, Gaia is undisputedly the king, too bad they got greedy with a price hike this year. I paid it, but I'm actively looking for an alternative now.
@wobblysauce22 күн бұрын
Google has started to add some of the Waze data into the Maps now.
@Rourke-Slimer22 күн бұрын
@@wobblysauce yep, they added a few of the waze features and they both share crowd sourced data now. I run them side by side sometimes when I'm driving just to compare, and it seems waze is still recieving and updating traffic and police report data just a little faster. Not a big deal, but getting that little extra heads up about police locations and speed traps could be the difference between a ticket or not.

Genuine parts for me, always 😂 but hey ho. Now the fronts you said the pistons are the only part that move, now I know you’re a cleaver cookie so saying “but Nerb, it’s a floating caliper” is probably telling you nothing new but perhaps you’ve got a sticky slider that’s stopping the full range of movement.
@Nerb124 күн бұрын
When im showing the body, you can see the slot at the far end. That slot is where the disc sits and it is on a floating body. That part moves, but the pistons push against a solid part.

The sliding caliper only aligns the caliper to the disk. The pistons set the travel. There was definitely nothing else Nerb could do in this situation.

This is BS to the max. I can only suggest to you to buy an electrical torque tester which can be put on a wrench and clamped into a vice and do some testing on your own and debunk yourself. If you are adding anything to the length of your wrench that is out of the "orbital movement" of your wrench you increase the force applied at the end. Only if the lever is at a 90° angle to the wrench it stays inside rotational movement's orbit of your wrench. The force is applied in a "sphere" around something you are tightening. If you set your wrench to 30Nm and you add a lever to the end you increase the diameter of that sphere and inrease the torque too. That's the best I can describe it, I'm not a native english speaker so whatever.
@Nerb1Ай бұрын
But add two pivots to your system and rethink it. Because I have two pivot points.
@2lbsTrigrPullАй бұрын
@@Nerb1 The pivot point stays around the thing you are tightnening. I can't directly link YT videos here, YT will delete that comment but copy that behind the equal sign of a YT link in your browser: AgQNndH1tzM And watch at 30:30. It's in German but he demonstrates it very clearly and that's the only thing which is very clear I could find on that subject. He sets his wrench to 30Nm and if he adds the spanner he gets 42Nm instead of 30Nm. If he puts it in a 90° angle to the spanner, he is getting 30Nm again. He explains why at the end too but well German...
@Nerb1Ай бұрын
@@2lbsTrigrPull I watched it. It is not the same system. The key is that he was able to apply the torque with one hand. That means he has no additional pivot. My video is explaining how I am applying a pure torque to the spanner. It is the next level up from the basic "extension to a torque wrench" video that there is many of. In my video i explain it by sketch, computer model and practical example, and all 3 examples agree. I went to this extreme because I know people skip over videos and will assume they know what the video is saying. Please watch the video completely and understand it before you just say it is BS.

@peterfalconer-h3kАй бұрын
Two entirely different things, there's nothing engineering related about stunt riding mx bikes. Rides can be as scary as fuck but still soundly engineered and safe if they're properly maintained. Looking at the way it's flexing under load, the steelwork in the second ride would require frequent checks by someone who understands what they're doing and what they're looking for. That's something that's way beyond the capabilities of most carnival workers

Australia has very detailed legislative requirements for the operation and maintenance of rides to ensure public safety. Regulations apply to both fixed and mobile rides and are enforced by the Regulators of each state and territory. This pendulum swing ride will have been given a Design Registration Number after an inspection by state-certified engineers to operate in Australia and this is signed-off by the Regulator. Given this, I wouldn't worry about it being an unsafe design. During the certification process, the engineers provide the owner/operator with an inspection checklist and schedule. You then have to rely on the operators/owners maintaining the ride accordingly and updating the ride's logbook. The logbook is examined during the annual inspection that's mandated by the Regulator and carried out by certified engineers. There is also the requirement that a more in-depth 10 year major inspection be carried out as part of best practice but this is only expressly mandated in Queensland, as far as I'm aware. It all boils down to how much you trust the government ;-)
