Just Cause 3 really nailed the comedic parody aspect. It was almost a piss-take on the average action movie, but you could play it. That’s why I didn’t like JC4. It technically still had the action movie mechanics, but it just doesn’t feel right. It was like when they added ammo to the vehicles. Like, there was so much that you wouldn’t realistically get through it all, but it still felt restrictive. But the biggest killer of JC4 was the story. Throughout the whole story, I think Rico said like 3 words. He was just so boring. In JC3, Dimah, Mario, Teo, Sheldon, all the characters had such in-depth characters, but in JC4 the side characters were so bland I can’t remember one of them. Hell, I can’t even remember the main bad guy, cause he showed up like twice. In fact, one of the only redeeming quality was the vehicle drops, I really liked that mechanic. Jamming an aircraft carrier between two buildings was pretty fun. But that was sorta it. You could fly around tornadoes, but then nothing happens. You could go to the frontline and kill people, but most of the enemies just ignored you, and it was basically wasting ammo. The micromanaging of the grappling hook was nice, but eventually, it gets stale. For Dan, who has a very creative mind, it was probably quite a bit more fun, but that isn’t the point. There were Easter eggs, but the weren’t as fun as the ones in JC3. And I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found what I thought was a secret, only to find that it’s a useless collectible. Hell, you’d at least expect a graphical upgrade, but the game looks like shit! From a distance, it’s pretty nice, but up close, the textures are repetitive, Rico looks like an entirely different person, and don’t even get me started on the water. I thought the air current could be fun, but they appeared in like 1 spot. Like Dan pointed out in one of his JC2 videos, even if a sequel is shit, you still have the predecessors. And that’s true. As of right now, the Just Cause series peaked at JC3, and that’s the one I’ll continue to play.
