Hey Dan and Rebecca, no idea if you're gonna see this but I was the one who gave you the University of Manchester pride lanyard (or string as Dan called it) with the badge on. No you didn't steal it from me, I got them both from the Manchester Pride parade which happened a couple of weeks before your book tour and had no idea what to do with them, and wanted to give you something, so I thought you might appreciate it. If it helps you remember me, we talked about my history degree and job interview at Cineworld (which I didn't get but I've now found something else so it's all good), and I also said hi to Dan as he was entering the Manchester Waterstones as we arrived at the same time. Now that I'm not trying to hold back a flood of nerves and worrying that I'm holding up the queue, I just want to thank you. I started watching you in 2012 when I was 14 and to say you influenced the person I am today would be an understatement. Not only have you influenced my sense of humour to an immeasurable degree but you also helped to shape my view of the world during times when I was much younger and much more susceptible to the types of harmful rhetoric that sadly still persists today. And Rebecca, your sense of humour and your artwork really helped my as I got older and grew in to a much calmer, and hopefully nicer, person. Without you I'm not sure I would have learned to appreciate many of the small, cute things you draw and get excited for in videos like these, and my life would have been slightly less bright as a result. Frankly, if it hadn't been for Dan's videos and both of your discussions of different political views and life in general, I may not have made the wonderful friends I have today and therefore wouldn't have attended that pride festival to get, and later give you, that lanyard. Funny how life works isn't it. So thank you both. Keep on being awesome!

Hi Dan and/or Rebecca! I was the one who gave you Skulduggery Pleasant, my names Alex by the way. Now that I’ve actually got the time and not a nervous wreck I’d like to just take a moment to say why I gave you this book. It’s an enormous part of my childhood, bigger to me than Harry Potter. I love it for being a children’s book that doesn’t treat the reader like an idiot. I’ve grown up with the series, and gave me my love of quick wit and one liners. It’s probably the reason I so fell in love with Dan’s sense of humour. Add onto that the fact that later in the series it has some of the greatest LGBT+ representation I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading, and the series as a whole definitely becomes one of my favourite pieces of media of all time, and I would so love if you could read it.

@@adamstout8985 depends whether you've been reading the new books at all. It doesn't really come up in books 1 - 9, but after that and Valkyrie takes a step back, it delves more into her personal life. It also introduces a gender fluid character who is handled perfectly in their representation who is actually a very prominent character and not just there for the brownie points. Several characters get confirmed as LGBT post hoc as well, though done in a more matter of fact way, again more as world building, not just for brownie points. Really it's kind of everywhere from book 10 onwards, but done so well and with such respect for the topic that it deserves more recognition
