I agree with the lack of progress being disconcerting. Although they are clearly still developing. Just So. Fucking. slowly. They had oct 2015 as their release date for the finished product on their kickstarter, we're three years further down the line, still Alpha.

There's a whole load of things that can go wrong, delaying or even stopping development. Like there was this one game, I forget the name, that got totally halted because an artist ran off and said all the art was his and they couldn't use it in the game.
