Reminds me of how back in the eighties, Rusty Dawe (very well-known American costumer -- he and his wife Diane, plus their friends the Turners, won a lot of costuming awards at SF conventions, and later CostumeCons, back in the day) made Stormbringer, Elric's sword from Michael Moorcock's books. Similar, in that it only worked when he held it, but different. No LEDs, so IIRC he used fiber optics. No teensy power supplies, so he had the battery on him, camouflaged as part of his Elric costume. He ran wires down his arm to his gauntlet, which had metal contacts in the palm (disguised as studs in the leather or something, with the same design in the other gauntlet), and the sword's hilt was also metal. When he held the sword, that connected the sword to the battery, and when he waved it, the light effect rippled up and down the blade. But if he let someone else hold it, they couldn't make it work. Magic sword -- only works for Elric. :) Your daggers are massively awesome, and go really well with the costume!
