Personally, I love this show. Yeah, it’s super campy, but that’s what makes it so entertaining! Everyone involved in this show didn’t get the credit they deserve.

I always like the Batman the Animated Series episode of the Grey Ghost because the Grey Ghost is a tribute to Adam West who we know play as Batman back in the 1960s Batman series and it give a lot of respect to the 1960s Batman show with the 1990s Batman teaming up with the Grey Ghost. One show that seems to be more busher is mostly the 1980s TMNT mostly during the time of the early 2000s. There was a crossover movie call Turtles Forever which was a crossover between the 2003 and the 1980s but the movie was bad because it busher the 1980s, some people like the movie and even some think that the 1980s act like that but they don't act that way. The 1980s TMNT was popular and it didn't have them act like idiots true they have some silly moments but they have some serious moments too. The way the movie have them act was simply that they have them crying, laughing, noogie at each other, act weak and never take anything seriously while the 2003 series in the movie show them superior and awesome as if they are trying to show everyone that there show is superior then the 1980s, that is not how a crossover needs to be it's like making a Transformers Prime crossing over with G1 and they make the Prime version better then the G1 or have a He-Man 2002 crossover with the 1980s and have the 2002 version more better then the 1980s or have a Sailor Moon Dic crossover with Viz Sailor Moon and have the Viz insulting them like insulting there voice and if you seeing the Viz version most of them aren't that good ether I mean check out Sammy voice he sound like an adult even thought he's a kid or Jupiter's voice sound like an old lady even thought Dic Jupiter's voice is voice by an old person and she did a better job at it and Sailor Moon sounds too squeaky which is the tradition magic girl voice and Terri Hawkens is Sailor Moon no matter what. Back in the Scooby Doo and the Cyber Chase it shows the movie Scooby gang meeting there cyber self that resemble there old counterpart back in the 1960s well cyber Shaggy was wearing a red shirt which was a nod to the Scooby, Shaggy and Scrappy solo movies and even cyber Scooby had a red collar which is new and they treat each other with respect like how Daphne told Cyber Daphne that she looks good the way she is after Cyber Daphne saw a mirror in the House of Mirror that she was fat and she isn't. The thing is that Turtles Forever should have the two team up to show respect to each other I mean have 2003 Donatello being interesting in Dimension X technology in the movie they portray Dimension X weapons as if they are lame and they are indeed dangerous in the 1980s or have 1980s Michelangelo showing 2003 Michelangelo some new Pizza ingredients or have 1980s Leonardo show that he has a fear that if they do turn Splinter human again what if he'll leave them and never come back and 2003 Leonardo telling him that he won't leave them and have 2003 Turtles surprise that the 1980s Splinter is Hamato Yoshi. A lot of time people always say that the Turtles Forever is an awesome movie ignoring the 1980s Turtles being busher sometimes I wonder if they ether A. they never watch the 1980s or B. they did watch it but they hated it. 4kids may have gotten away with that but the true is that if it wasn't for the 1980s TMNT then 2003 wouldn't have existed it was because of the 1980s that the Ninja Turtles got that popularity and some of the villains from 2003 were actually parody villains of some of the 1980s villains such as Garbage Man is Muckman, Turtle Bot from the PS2 TMNT is actually Metalhead, Ninja Rats from TMNT 2 Battle Nexus could have been the Punk Frogs instead and Utrom Shredder/Ch'rell is Krang. I mean how would 2003 feel if 2012 busher them they wouldn't like that and they'll see how the 1980s felt when they busher them, both show are unique in there own ways but having one disrespect the other isn't right and they shouldn't do that the 1980s Turtles didn't do anything in the movie and the 2003 do a lot of things I don't get why are they there if they don't do anything at all. Trans-Dimensional Turtles was a better crossover it was a crossover between the 1980s and 2012 and they felt like a crossover and respected the 1980s act like themselves and don’t act like idiots like how Turtles Forever did.

Totally agree. For me the Batman 66 canon is the Season 1, the movie, Second and third season, Legends of the Superheroes TV movie, and the two animated movies Return of the cape crusader and Batman vs Two Face.

Adam West's brilliant TV Batman portrayal was the perfect straight man to all the camp. Burt Ward's Robin was right up there with him. All the stars in today's zodiac couldn't recapture that chemistry. Yvonne Craig's Batgirl fit right in that suit perfect. Alan Napier"s Alfred.(first to be cast), tied it all together as the loyal butler, who was the ONLY one (besides the audience) who knew the 3 crimefighter's secret identities! Genius.

As a kid I loved this show. A neighbor I had back then was cleaning out his garage and had a big box of comics he was going tto just throw away. He let me have them and a lot of them were old campy Batman comics. I loved it, but when I got older it colored my "idea" of Batman. I couldn't take him seriously because of the show and those old comics. At least until the 80s hen the Dark Knight Returns came out and the first movie.

i wonder what a stylized AND INTENTIONALLY campy batman reboot movie marketed as action comedy made today would look like? I'd watch it in theaters in 3d in hopes the sound effect letters when they fight would be computer graphics rendered and animated to jump out at the audience and portrayed by reluctant stoner fighter offensive actors paying homage to this series and somehow edgy in an R rated yet wholesome seeming way. Always liked this show and that intro where you'd see the batgirl cycle in the animation sequence had me excited since no other tv intro would have a variant element like that.

The reality is that the TV series was actually triggered by the cinematic release of a condensed version of the 1943 Batman cinema serial that had gained a lot of attention from the hip generation at the time. Producer William Dozier liked to give the impression that he thought up the idea of injecting humour into the project all by himself. The impression I've had since is that he was a lot like Bob Kane in this respect. In other words, quite skilled at bullshitting.

You give me more information about Batman 60s TV show compared to most. but I'm not into the show because I'm not a fan of a lighthearted campy Batman but it doesn't mean I'm against the light-hearted approach I grew up with Batman Brave and the Bold cartoon (which was a modernized version of the 60s show that Blended both silver and bronze age stories together.) And it's not like you can't bring back the Silver age elements of the character in The Modern Age stories Grant Morrison's run on the character did that he rework some things to fit better into the story.

Try it. You may like it. A perfect example of "an acquired taste". The show is often crammed with fun pop culture references and obscure stuff, plus really droll comedy. It's over the top, light hearted entertainment. But it's probably always going to be better for people who knew it in childhood; however, don't let that fact discourage you from giving it a try. There's room for all kinds of Batman universes.

I think you need to look up deeper into the Silver age for Batman specifically around the late 60s Batman was actually returning back to his darker roots. but after the show was popular for its silliness the comics then start to emulate that but still maintain that seriousness there were some pros and cons to this. Then when the show was cancel didn't want to get rid of it completely in the comics so they decide to mix stories between serious and campy but it wasn't until the early 70s they decided to make him fully dark with very little campiness. Highly recommend KZbinr Salazar Knight. Actually liked MCU Spider-Man I don't think he was supposed to be like the traditional Spider-Man.

Lucky for you Matt Reeves Batman is going to focus on the Detective aspect of the character and also make him a humanist. I'm surprised when people say which version of Batman destroyed the character people point to Joel Schumacher's interpretation. although I guess in the 60s this kind of sort of ruined Batman but not really.

Great video even though it was lacking in information about the show and movie like the series was actually supposed be a fall premiere for the 66-67 tv season but got bumped up to a mid-season replacement for the 65-66 season it originally was supposed to be a hours with no cliffhanger that was a last minute change for the series also the movie was originally supposed be what the show came out of but ended up doing the first season first the show was the first appearance of Barbara Gordon as batgirl the series brought Alfred back from the dead cause in the comics Alfred had been killed off but the show wanted him so the one and only input on the show dc had was granting permission to use Alfred in the series after the show got popular dc brought Alfred back from the dead in the comics u are right the show was more comic accurate then people know but it wasn’t like the comics now reflecting the movies like marvel does these days actually it was a way of trying to get by the comic book code of authority that got put into the lace cause of a Senator saying the “violence” in comics was hurt the youth of the times the show was the first time a black actress was casted as catwoman Adam has stated that he took inspiration from the old Sherlock Holmes film series for playing Batman and I think it helps bring out the intelligence Batman has and like u said it is the best example of Batman’s detective skills shown next to Ben affleck cause ben’s version showed Batman using those skills trying to find kryptonite that would stop Superman even though the element wasn’t named yet in the movie and like most people u quoted the misconception of Batman’s one rule the actual rule is no killing with a gun cause despite the real world implications that caused the rule to come about Batman won’t use a gun anymore cause it was the weapon used to take his own parents and doesn’t want that to happen to anyone else Batman has killed countless times over the years since the rule has put in place making the mainstream statement of the rule incorrect and the series is why I’m a Batman fan today I found the series during the hype for the theatrical release of Batman in 1989 when I was 5 years old Adam became my favorite Batman cause of how great the series and movie it is even though it’s heavily campy the series could be serious when it needed to be

14:49 - "Without the 1966 TV series and its influence I don't think superheroes would have seen the spotlight when they did" Yeah I think that's kind of a dubious claim personally. There were other superhero TV shows and movie serials. The Batman TV show was probably Batman's first big success but Superman had already had his own TV show, and when the Superman movie came out it had little bits of self-aware comedy (like Superman going to change and realizing telephone booths aren't really a thing any more) but I don't think it followed the mold of the Batman TV show at all. The superhero movie genre has seemingly died a few times, only to spring right back up again. The Superman franchise was run into the ground, then Batman '89 happened. The Batman movie franchise was run into the ground, then X-Men and Spiderman happened. Those were run into the ground, and then we had the early Marvel movies and another wave of Batman movies. They're popular characters made recognizable by decades of comic book and TV appearances. So personally I don't think the existence of superhero movies as we know them hinges on the pivotal role of Batman '66. If anything Batman might have set things back a while. It was a big success, but it firmly established this one version of the character (and, perhaps, public expectations of superhero TV and movies in general) that was hard to escape.
