Nice wing build! I've been working on a semi armin style wing for a hotliner electric sailplane. But I dont like the weight that all the tape covering adds. Ive been trying to get a more aerodynamic version of the lightweight flighttest foam board wings without the headaches of a full hotwired foam core covered in carbon. I'll definitely use your superior trailing edge in my own design. I love the double tapered foam with the paper meeting at a sharp edge. So much better than what I've tried so far. I also like the basswood doubler to the foam spars. I'll be redrawing my plans again in the near future, and buying some more foamboard to experiment with

I used a similar technique to this on a mini scratch build and the wing is great. I'm upscaling it now and adding a lot more power. wingspan will be around 45in. I think I'll be around 1000 grams with a graphene 4s and a aerodrive 3542 1250kv. this flap design looks really neat. looks like I'll be butchering another plane for 2 more servos ^^

Yes. The brown is just a special flite test version that's water resistant.

Hey Nic. You have some awesome designs. So far, I have only built some FT designs. I have also built a VAS micro wraith style dtfb plane that I have not had a chance to fly yet due to the wet weather we are currently having in Northern California. I am really not sure how it is going to fly. It is really heavy for the surface area of the wing. I do have a request for you. I would love to see a DTFB design that is a 4 channel fpv pusher style plane, similar to something like the VAS Specter. I think your wing design would marry well into a design like that.

You can definitely add these spars to any foam wing. Even if you don't want to go fast, the extra strength helps in longevity and even crashes.

you are 100% right. I learned hard way. Few weeks ago I totaled my FT spitfire because I did not add any spar there. Wings just folded and plane went down full speed head on :(

Thanks, Rohan! My glue gun is 100 watts. It will melt the foam, though. You just have to move quick and apply the appropriate amount of glue as needed. Lower watt glue guns will prevent some foam melting, but you won't be able to do long glue lines that are required on the wing.

Yes it can be done. You'll need to make changes to the wing slot though. I'm working on a mod that would allow others to do this!

Nope, you'll be fine on 3s at around 250w with just the foam spar. If your setup is over 250w then you might want to look at the basswood.

Hi! The FT version is based on my design and I worked with Josh to dial it in. My nn version is the only one with the speedwing but won't be available through FT. I am working on a v2 and speed build kit for my nnMiG 3, so keep an eye out for that!
