Given the proximity of the Blue Mountains to Arnor, I like to imagine there were a few dwarvish mercenaries/volunteers who fought alongside the Arnorians and their allies. Since you already had Hobbits, Men, and Elves fighting the Witch King, you could also have some dwarves, thus having all the peoples of Middle Earth united once again against a great evil. Of course, this is only a theory as it's never stated in the text, but it's fun to believe.

@Tarathiel1233 ай бұрын
@@Halieustheendless56 It's highly likely, Tolkien always intended this to be a mythos so the smaller skirmishes and conflicts wouldn't always include detailed descriptions of combatants across the entire land. There seems to be accounts that some dwaves stayed in the Blue Mountains but that they didn't return in great numbers until after the destruction of Erebor, but its hard to believe there would be *nothing* in the Blue Mountains for refugees to return to. In terms of helping in battle, a single elf and a single dwarf went a long way in the Third Age in a few battles one could mention :P
@Halieustheendless563 ай бұрын
@@Tarathiel123 I see what you mean, but I wasn't particularly saying the dwarves had nothing to return to in the blue mountains. There were small accounts in the appendixes of old mines and such still in Ered Luin, but I honestly thought they were abandoned at that point. I do believe there may have been communities of dwarves rebuilding or just living in old parts of the blue mountains. They even returned to remnants of Belegost and Nogrod. Either way, yes it would be hard to imagine being nothing to return to there. And yes (reference to Gimli and Legolas etc.) even one of each went a long way in these battles.

I hope 'The Hunt for Gollum' shows more Aragorn backstory then actually hunting for Gollum. A movie about the Rohirrim(though, its already not looking good), The Hunt for Gollum and a movie about this would be a great appendix for the other trilogies

That great illustration at the beginning made me wonder, how much actual awareness did Isildur have about the ring before encountering Sauron in battle? Was it happenstance alone that he'd cut it free and only then realize it's importance? Or was it something he (and presumably many/most others) knew of it specifically and perhaps try to target it?

Witch-King vs Glorfindel would’ve been super rad!

At 9:36 when its mentioned that Arvedui went north, why doesn't he think to go south instead? Was there another enemy host between them and Lindon? If not it doesn't make much sense.

Considering Tolkien was inspired by scandinavian/nordic languages i think its kinda funny that ”Fornost” translates literally to “ancient cheese” in Swedish…

Something I always wondered about this period and these events was how much did the men and elves know about the Witch King and his association with Sauron? I thought this early in the 3rd age most everyone assumed Sauron was defeated not knowing the true fate of the One Ring. So would they have know the "Witch King" was a Nazgul and associated with Sauron or did they view him as an unknown, independent malevolent force? I ask because one would assume if they know he is the Lord of the Nazgul and is still active, that so too was Sauron in some capacity. Unless they thought they could exist separately, not knowing of the co-dependency on the One Ring?
