Galadriel: you'd give the one ring willingly? Frodo: yeah! Since I've gotten this ring: I've been chased from my home, been shanked by zombie ghost people, had to trudge þrough the mud and the snow, had mountains side dropped me, been attacked by octopus monsters, chased again by orcs, and had one of my families best friend yanked into a bottomless chasm by a giant fire monster. This ring has brought me noþ but trouble

I dont know if I love or hate being this attached to fictional characters. After finishing LOTR Im left with a deep sadness or maybe emptiness. I want to know everything, I want everyone to stay together, I almost want to start it over again so they are. How is Tolkein capable of implanting these feelings in me but other authors are not, or atleast anywhere near the same level. Well...Ill be broken for afew days...maybe Ill watch the Hobbit movies to ease my pain.

I'm sure someone else has commented this, and I could be misinterpreting, but I think I caught an error in this video: the quotation "the dragon passed like an express train," was indeed in the fellowship of the Ring, not The Hobbit. However, were Tolkien to do another re-write of Fellowship, he certainly would've removed modern "anachronistic" expressions such as that as well.

It seems like the "Nerd of the Rings is checking off names of people to interview from The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Peter Jackson is the elusive one they're still trying to secure.

This game was such a pleasant surprise for me. I originally started playing just to try it out, with no intention of finishing it at the time. But once I started, I just couldn’t put it down until I beat the game and unlocked all the Steam achievements. Honestly, I don’t get why there are so many negative reviews for it. Sure, it’s not perfect and could use some polishing in a few mechanics, but it’s definitely a solid game. I’m really hoping it does well in sales and that we see more DLCs in the future.

How does a Dwarf army sally from and retreat through such a small gate as the Western Gate is depicted in the films? Although to be fair, I don’t think the book implies it is any bigger…

The shadow of Sauron imprints itself within Aragorn in a vision before the last battle for middle earth of that age. Aragorn, old with wisdom, courage and humility remains unchanged, but in there lies a shadow being, hidden to all except in feeling to those last elves. When Aragorn picks up his son there the voice of Sauron is heard to the baby in his arms, and the dark lord imprints the fires of morgoth in this new to be king of madness. And so the descent of Gondor and leader of men is written in peril from within. Ultimately it begins with Saelon tricking Borlas into attending one of the cult meetings of the dark tree. There the old man can’t beleive his eyes, men twisted and screaming like orcs in this pit beneath the grove, Borlas is taken and sacrificed. And so begins the new war of middle earth to the brink before the old forces return.

The Arkenstone wasn't a Silmaril but it was most likely inspired by them (on an authorial level). How it got its inner light is a mystery. Presumably dwarven craftsmen figured out Fëanor's secret - there's a verse in the Song of Durin that suggests they had something very similar to Fëanorian lamps in place to illuminate Moria. Is it possible some dwarves who still held memories of the Nauglamír set themselves to try and duplicate its most precious facet? LoTR in its appendices says that many of the dwarves who fled Nogrod and Belegost after their breaking ended up settling in Moria. A lot of those dwarves then migrated to the Lonely Mountain after Durin's Bane awoke. So there's a chance, a slim one perhaps, that tales of Beren's Silmaril inspired the crafting of the Arkenstone.

0:00-0:19 Opening paragraph sounds idly similar to the Haradrim; just switch our Rohan and Saruman with Gondor and Sauron and the similarities between the Dunlendings and the people of Haradwaith in regards to their earlier relations with the numenoreans and their fall into villainy by the third age stand out a bit.

The wrinkle here is whether or not Elrond and Galadriel notice Gandalf using the One Ring the way the Elven ring bearers noticed Saurons first use, and if so, what their response is. If they do notice, and respond immediately, Gandalf might be stopped before he's fully corrupted, whether it's talking him down or throwing enough of a force at him to just take out his form- after which I doubt the Valar will be sending him back as they did in canon. Where things go from there...is hard to say. Gandalf falling to its influence would be terrifying, even if they managed to stop from falling completely that would be a terrifying thought. Would anyone, then, be able to toss it in when the time came? Would they decide that, if the ringbearer refused to toss in just the ring when the time came, to just give them a shove, sending the ring and its bearer into the fire? Who would bear the ring then? Someone who wouldn't lose track of the ring or give it up lightly, but someone they have a chance of tossing in whole. Honestly, if we wanted a happy ending I think Boromir is the one who would do it. Seeing Gandalf fall to its influence might be enough to convince him it can't be safely used, and he's the sort who would be willing to accept death when his beloved Gondor is on the line if Sauron gets the ring back. Also I'm curious how would the Valar respond to two Istari having fallen, one having abandoned their duties, and two others doing whatever hundreds or thousands of miles away?

Sauron's patience, profound as it was, is overwhelmingly dwarfed by Cirdan's. That unbelievable streak of constancy and dutifulness combined with the foresight to give Narya to Gandalf instead of Saruman, cements his legacy as the Elf's elf. Shoutout Cirdan the Cirdan😏
