My theory is that "Adar" is one of the original elves taken by Morgoth to create the orcs. This would explain why the orcs call him "father" and he seems to care for them.

Her sorry is sorry not sorry. Its too bad the writers have made the main character far and away the most unlikable character. There's some claim that she will be 'humbled' at some point. Issue is that has to happen early on or they will continue to lose viewers. Arrogance on her level is a trait of a villain to make it so people don't like them, in a 'hero' it's off putting and out of place.

Because I don't feel Sauron would've chosen such a leading character for deception - since she can show up herself anytime and expose it quite easily. But again that's the best thing I could expect at the moment for the show!

Haven't really got that vibe at all. The story is unfolding very well, and hasn't overly focused on some unseen or unspoken evil. Has done very well so far in my opinion, and Sauron is just a rumor or veiled threat to be expanded on later.

Yeah, before Celebrimbor will meet the Dwarves personally at Khazad-Dum before both the Noldor Elves of Eregion and them will have a close friendship and then they'll build the Main gate of Moria (Made of ithildin a rare substance out of the metal of Mithril) - That which is a sign of cooperation between the 2 races. Funny that the Drawves were created by Aule the Valar of fire and blacksmith - Who is also the patron of the Noldor. The Noldor were his protegés...

Agree, Iv always defended this show upto the build up and I must say I even enjoyed the first two episodes but seeing that last episode where Galadriel was training numinorians soldiers with freshly forged swords with swipe to kill tactics was shocking, especially when last nights House of the dragon had a great training scene with wooden swords, it really showed the lack of give a damn, and difference between the two….even if the numinorians were beginner, if Galadriel missed a block she’d be dead!

@Silent Man and I agree, elves are supposed to be like super soldiers in comparison to men, but I feel like that cheesy scene wasn’t the way to show it, Maybe even have her hold back because she’s a guest and knows elves aren’t welcome in numinor, THEN when they reached middle earth she shows them her true POWER? I’m enjoying the show I just feel like I’m constantly thinking… they could have done this and that… and it’s annoying me now. Lastly you know there gona reach middle earth and stumble across Bronwyn in that tower, which is going to be embarrassing that they so happened to sail to that exact tower being attacked…. if it does happen, ( which I hope it doesn’t), Why not just have the tower on the coast so at least then Galadriel and the numinorians can be sailing and spot the tower being attacked on the shore, just anything, DO SUMAT AMAZON. It’s winding me up now haha because I really wanted this to be brilliant and get that emotion we had 20 years back

The mithril plot hurts my brain. I'm seeing it defended as a deception of Sauron, but the idea that Gil-galad and Elrond would believe it is depressingly stupid. But we need a conflict between the elves and dwarves, so I reckon we'll have to get it somehow. (Also, they are legally able to reference the Silmarils. A lot of the prologue's defenses just went the window, in case anybody cared. And why oh why would they therefore not be able to mention the Nauglamir or Thingol or allude to any other pre-existing conflict?)

There's a theory I heard about meteor man that I hope is true. The theory is that he is specifically blue wizard #2. And that the 1st came to Middle Earth first and established cults in the east. And the people that were checking out the crash site are actually blue wizard #1's followers looking for the 2nd wizard. So at some point those 2 will meet up and there will be conflict. That could be really cool to see. I'm still holding out hope that he's not Gandalf.

@@fervor-craft As in everything feels really small and cheaply done, in comparison to some of Peter Jackson's interpretations where it really brought a lot of scale to the world and demonstrated the depth that Tolkien put into the books. Everything in TROP feels like it's been shot on a little stage with a small group of amateur actors. It always feels like 15 people at most on screen which is daft when you're sending an army.... By lacking in Tolkien spirit I means a lot of things, such as the general script, story telling, plot, it doesn't feel Tolkien at all and the non canon origins for Mirthil etc don't even need to be there, Tolkien left a lot of mystery for a reason, because sometimes it's better to leave things unanswered and let the reader wonder. Nonetheless I'll probably watch it to see if there's any developments, but low expectations.

Answer, **Everything!** The only thing RoP shares with Tolkien's legendarium are legally used nouns and proper nouns., like Galadriel, mithril, Lindon, Harfoots, etc. This show could have been a badly written script for the "Iliad" where they swapped out the names of the Iliad characters for Middle-Earth characters and it would be just as close to Tolkien's books as RoP is.

"meteor man" is definitely a Maia. Possibly one of the Istari blue wizards, but I think it might be Radagast. He wears the same kind of brown wool-like robe that Radagast from The Hobbit wears and in Episode 5 he was shown contemplating things under the full moon. Yavanna used the last flower and seed from the Two Trees, with the tears of Nianna and the vessels made by Aule, to create the Sun and Moon. In the poster showing the Stranger he is carrying an Apple; also a symbol of Yavanna. Yavanna only sent one Maia to Middle Earth: Radagast.

I wish I wasn't struggling so much to enjoy the show. It almost feels like the target audience for RoP are people who aren't that familiar with Tolkien's work, which is a shame. Every episode I find myself scratching my head trying to figure out how things portrayed in the show tie in to what I know of the history of Middle Earth. I also find myself questioning the motivations of almost every character, because they all seem SO different from what I took out of the source material. I am still cautiously hopeful that the showrunners will manage to tie everything together an an appropriate and satisfying way (5 seasons though?!)

I don't think it's a true origin story. Gil-Galad asks Elrond if he knows "the song". Elrond remarks it is "an obscure legend, most consider apocryphal". Mithril was found on Valinor, which may be why Gil- believes it contains the light of the Silmarils, and it's discovery in Khazad-Dum may be the first time it has been found in quantity in Middle-Earth.

When Adar first meets Arondir and Arondir tells him he's from Beleriand, Adar tells a story about going down a river in Beleriand where the banks were lined with sage blossoms. If in fact he is referring to the Sirion, then the armor similarity could make sense, bcz Gil-Galad and nearly all the remaining Noldor and Teleri would have been gathered there (at the mouth of the Sirion) after the fall of Gondolin. So perhaps Adar is some corrupted Noldorin or Telerin elf who has kept his armor since the end of the First Age, like Gil-Galad.

Out of the possible theories so far I like Sauron operating unseen and driving the aspirations of Celebrimbor including the (Hopefully) lie about Mithril origins, In doing so he is simultaneously laying the groundwork for the rings and distracting the elves while his buddy Adar is busy trying to get Mordor Started. And with TROP‘s prologue (and our knowledge of the lore) I think it was beautifully portrayed how a tearful Galadriel swore to avenge her brother. „I can’t stop“ is a common thread in Tolkien‘s works and idk why you won’t stop complaining, but it’s all over The Silmarillion. Feanorians, Beren reclaiming a Silmaril, Eol and others being too proud of themselves to change their paths. Why should Galadriel be of any difference within the snap of a finger? She will eventually alter and become the sorceress, just give her her time.

Being an adaptation is no excuse for portraying such one dimensional characters. Regarding the motivations for the characters in the Silmarillion, all of them are more complex than just "can't stop". They are related to grief, pride, love, loyalty, amongst many other sources of motivation for the characters. And 5-6 episodes in, finally Galadriel is saying she can't stop because of grief, in a 10 second scene. That is a very poor script for me. But hey, that's just my opinion. If you are enjoying the show, I'm glad for you. I just don't think this show is great, or even good, just quite mediocre at best.

At first I thought the morgul blade theory true but after seeing this latest episode I believe its the key to causing Orodruin (Mount Doom) to erupt, I think it makes sense seeing as how the letter from the Spy which Galadriel read in the Hall of Laws in numenor said that the orcs were gathering in the Southlands with the goal of making it an envioronment which orcs could thrive in and then when we see them they're earching for that Hilt/Key. Whatever it is I really believe that it is the key to making Orodruin erupt.

I think he's referring to the war, Numenor is supposed to send vast numerical army enough to even scare the orcs who always has the advantage in numbers, but if this is it, 5 ships with 500 men, its pretty disappointing. I think the next episodes is just some skirmish level, and hopefully we will get to a more Peter's lord of the rings type of massive battles :D

I don't know why people are expecting Numenor to be massively militarized like it will become once Pharazon takes the sceptre. At that point when he goes to Middle-Earth to challenge Sauron, I expect them to have an absolutely massive fleet. At this point it's obvious to me that Miriel is not committing all of Numenor's forces to the battle but is instead asking for volunteers to protect the precarious political situation in Numenor. And honestly I love Pharazon using the entire situation to his advantage to increase the wealth and might of Numenor.

Its amazing how easy people are to manipulate. Like, they see those killer pigs in the show, with tusks and hooves and a body build that looks nothing like a wolf, and yet because the Harfoots call these things wolves (yes, apparently a tribe living in the wild doesn't know the difference between a pig and a wolf) everyone reviewing this show also calls them wolves. Seriously, people. Whatever these creatures are, they are NOT wolves nor wargs. They are basically Entelodonts, lol. I know barely anyone knows what an Entelodon is, and maybe thats why Amazon chose this design for these creatures because they were too lazy to make something up themselves and knew most people wouldn't notice anyway.

Does anyone else notice Arondir knows a little too much, about that broken sword...being a key, where the statue is hidden, not being killed by Adar. I don't know whether he's someone that's been over looked.
