Just want to play Devil's Advocate and say, while you can be disappointed about the squishies not having a scent, them not having a scent isn't a con though. I've seen a lot of scent sensitive people who are trying to get rid of the smells of squishies cuz the perfume used to scent them makes them sick. Just something to keep in mind with toys/crafts that don't need to be scented are more accessible to everyone

Here's the bath bomb recipe i've been using FOREVER, and i love it (it's super fizzy too!): 4 TBSP baking soda 2 TBSP citric acid ^ thats the base of any fizzie bath bomb EITHER 1 TBSP Corn starch (filler and holds it together) OR 1/2 TBSP corn startch and 1/2 TBSP epsom salts (relaxing and filler) 3/4 TSP coconut oil ( add while melted, keeps it from crumbling) Fragrance and soap dye, to preference witch hazel (in a spray bottle, keeps it together) Bath Bomb mold All you do is mix the dry ingriedients together, then add dye and scent. Next add the coconut oil and mix really throughly. I like to use gloves/my hands to kind of "grind" everything together. Finally, spray the witch hazel at a distance (or it will activate the fizz, try roughly 5-ish inches away) about 7-10 times, or until to mixture sticks to itself and isn't crumbly, but isn't wet either (if it's too wet, it'll expand in the mold and get stuck). Now pack each half of your mold until it's a few millimeters shy of the top (also this is for a sphereical mold) and add the mixture loosely on top until it overflows the mold. Press the two halves together firmly and wait about 3 minutes. Now remove the top half of your mold, then place it back on top, flip it, and remove the bottom side (so the bomb won't get stuck to either half). Let dry for a few hours in only one half of the mold (I usually remove the bomb and place it in the other half of the mold a couple times to make sure it doesn't get stuck). Once dry, drop it in water or save for later. Makes 1 bath bomb.

I'm 2 months late but here's a quick rundown of BB ingredients and what they do (I make and sell a ton of these) - Baking soda & citric acid - I think everyone knows this is the base and the reaction these two produce when they meet water is what makes a bath bomb fizz - Hardener - this is usually corn starch, cream of tartar or kaolin clay, it's there to help the bath bomb harden - Filler - a lot of BB's have some sort of filler or bulking agent and it's usually Epsom salts since it's cheap and good for your skin and muscles. It also quickly adds weight to your BB. - Light oil or butter - this can be any oil or even glycerin. Oil is used often instead of just a wetting agent because it does not set off the fizzing reaction and is good for your skin. - Wetting agent - (water, rubbing alcohol, witch hazel etc.) this is added very sparingly either before the citric acid is added or with a spray bottle so as to lessen the fizzing reaction. This is ONLY really added to activate whatever hardener you added because the oil you added earlier won't activate that hardening effect and you'll have soft bath truffles instead. Extras- Polysorbate 80- this is typically added to BB's that are colored with mica's or charcoals. It's an emulsifying agent that disperses powders IN the water so you don't get sludge floating on top the water. It also keeps it from leaving rings in your tub and sticking to you. SLSA (sodium lauryl sulfoacetate) - this is a sulfate free gentle surfactant made from sustainable resources. It's a bubbling agent, it keeps your BB's bubbling for longer to give you that nice foam that top BB suppliers boast about (and it's cheap!) Those are your base ingredients for a good BB, a lot of them are interchangeable and customizable :)

When I make bathbombs, I do sometimes add an oil(cocoa butter, shea butter, olive oil, etc), but I also mix it with polysorbate 80. Poly 80 is an emulsifier, and I also add a bit of it to fragrance oils. While I have heard of people using cornstarch in bathbombs, I personally haven't. I've heard the cornstarch makes the dried bathbombs harder, especially for any piping you use on it.

Hey SaltE! I make bath products for a living, and I can tell you that the secret to good bath bombs is fine Epsom salt and Polysorbate 80. Use half as much PS80 as oil, and remember to mix 1.5x the dry ingredients to account for the extra liquid!

Oil and starch are not needed! Basic bath bomb is citric acid powder, baking soda and witch hazel. You can add colour (mica is great!), and fragrance (body safe essential oils or fragrances - check out saffire blue online). If you want oil for moisturizing, jojoba is a good choice, but I suggest mixing it 1:1 with tetrasodium EDTA (20 or 40) to make the oil water soluble so your tub doesn’t get super slippery! ❤️❤️
@max_trashpanda5 жыл бұрын
In my bathbombs, I use cornstarch (sometimes) with citric acid and baking soda. Epsom Salt is optional but always fun to mix in. for oil, I use coconut. I would say you could use jojoba oil also, but I definitely wouldn't use vegetable oils :S Also, in that kit, i really love the fact that the mold have little holes/pins to allign them correctly, it's very cool!

I’d (binge) watched so many of NerdECrafter’s videos of trash bath bomb kits that I was completely invested emotionally for that last kit... I literally held my breath right before she put it in the water 🤣🤣🤣

I just want you to know that I am making my first sculpture because of you. I really hope it turns out fantastic because I don't know how to do small so I decided to do a bigger project but once it's done I will definitely be sending you a picture.

I make bathbombs with my mum together quite often.. we use bicarbonate(natron), essential oils, citric acid, coconut oil, and neutral bathsalts and it turns out good everytime! Optional: colouring with food colour
