@phillyphilly20955 сағат бұрын
True. But also even though it may have been hidden from the general public centuries ago, Reublic emissaries may have been visiting up to the fall of the Republic.
@cyberdragon451Сағат бұрын
But, if they still are making Old Republic credits and never converted they could have been isolated for tens of thousands of years since we don't know when the other At planets fell. Minimum 1000 to up 10-20 thousand years is possible.

They mentioned the great works which is the high republic. Chancellor Lina Soh had her great works going on but they never mention what they are. You can also see what looks like her on those tapestry designs. The Jedi at the time also had a war with the Nihil which was a viking like pirate group and they had the storm wall which looks a hell of a lot like that barrier around At Attin. I think this was set up to safeguard against them plundering their mint and for some reason communication ceased. They mention At Attin was lost hundreds of years ago too.
@ItsMeMattCarter9 сағат бұрын
I will not be surprised though if there is a Jedi presence on this planet that we haven't seen or that the supervisor is a Jedi. They were HUGELY involved during the high republic and filled all kinds of roles including essentially policing the galaxy. Years of childhood trauma and backstory in one exchange: Jod…a man who probably was a Jedi Youngling, a baby given away by his parents, trained to have no attachments by the Jedi, served up as war fodder by the Republic as a padawan, survived a massacre, and then was hunted by the Empire…Jod walks with Brutus: “The crew loves me.” “The crew loves plunder.” “No, the crew loves me.” Not excusing the man’s actions, but he’s still a boy trying to be loved. To believe that a crew that wants plunder loves him, he has to find plunder…and now he has. He cries at those credits because he believes what he has done has found the way to be loved by his crew. I bet there will be some realizations in the final episode…that the crew really does love only plunder, or the reality that the love of money led Tak Rennod to an ultimately empty result, and seeing that the kids are loved like he never was…I can’t wait to see how Jod reacts, positively or negatively.

I'm with Nerdy, thinking it would be devastating for people to realise they've been working for nothing, for no one. But that goes only for the mint & mining departments. The rest keep society running. Although they would then realise they've been subject to robots enforcing strict isolation for nothing. There's just one thing. I think at least some people at and/or near the top should be wondering why no one has come for decades for a shipment of dataries. I assume there were regular transports before the Empire fell.
@richardyoung34628 сағат бұрын
I guess you forgot that during the episode with Krh'ymm when the kids didn't know about Alderaan or what X-Wings are. Or that the credits were always being call "Old Republic" credits by outsiders, and not "New Republic". Yeah, At Attin has had no contact with the larger galaxy for a very long time, at least no openly.

I think Nerdy is right - remember that these people have been told that by doing their jobs, they are contributing to The Great Work. They probably would have a hard time with the idea that they being given exclusively busy work with no larger purpose at all.

The thing that I really like about this show is that, while there are mysteries, things make sense. Like the plot is continuing in an understandable manner and when there are somewhat questionable things (ie how did the Ebon Cinder make it through the barrier?) they are answered in an organic and timely way and viewers don’t have to rely on deep lore KZbinrs to come up with fan theories to fill in plot holes. That shouldn’t be a rare thing to praise, but sadly it feels that lack of essential competence of writing in recent Star Wars shows is more common.
@sumerlawrence9 сағат бұрын
Nerdy may be on to something with his theory. There's a reason the kids ended up on a war town planet during their travels. It was to show a contrast on whats outside of their planet and what others are going through. Also the fact that there's no real free will on At Atin because you are basically assigned a job as a analyst. I'm looking forward to the finale.

8:48 no, they absolutely do not know about the empire OR the clone wars, as far as we know. They’ve been sequestered on At Attin for “hundreds of years,” all the rest of their verbiage and decorative accoutrements are from the High Republic, etc. Also, the kids confirmed when talking to Kh’ymm that they don’t know about the clone wars or the empire/galactic civil war. While the parents clearly know more than the kids do, everything else about the planet so far suggests that they don’t know about any of the recent galactic history.

I suspect we're seeing what's really going on. It's a Republic mint - maybe even THE mint. Due to security of such a thing, the work force around it live in a kind of skunk works. It's an isolated community providing their workers with a good life within an entirely self-sufficient system. Then the Republic falls. There were probably inputs to the system (i.e. regular inspections, shipments off-world, imports, etc.). But this all ceased with the demise of the Republic and any of the select few that knew how to interact with these select worlds. So the system perpetuates on auto-pilot, isolated without any exchanges with the outside world. What we don't know (yet) is what exactly is The Supervisor. I suspect they died / were killed generations ago without a proper succession and a certain Pirate took control... until they too died but we'll see. Side note: Nerdy's description of misery strikes me as amusing given that people live these experiences without the security and stability that these folks have. In another life, I was active duty military and this life we see here strikes a chord with the experience of that world.

Wym's dad gave him "lunch money ." This implies that Wym has to pay money for his lunch, which in turn implies that the planet's economy is at least partially a market economy. Further, the people need food, clothing, shelter, etc. So not everyone is working at the mint. Some people must be making goods. Also, maybe the mint functioned as an emergency reserve. In which case, visits by Republic emissaries may have been infrequent and irregular.

Old Republic before the Clone Wars etc…that’s why the children didn’t know anything about the war and the destruction of Alderaan . I think they’ve kept doing this job without knowing anything about what was going on off planet for decades or maybe hundreds of years. That is sad. That’s why there is so much money laying around, waiting for someone to come pick it up. That’s why if you go back and watch the ship coming in the landing area is covered in grass and no one seemed to know that’s what it was. They didn’t expect the ground to open up. The robots went into auto pilot , so to speak when they sensed the ship coming in. So I agree with Nerdy here.
