+Joe Jasat Chris and probably henrique are mainly prop makers so having it fire even five feet is more than likely good enough for them not for ultra beastly performance. Notice how he didn't add a powerful spring.

Awesome job! That looks great. I would only add that distressing the switch and button would have been a nice touch of detail because if you think about what wears out and or is used the most on many household items or car interiors it is the buttons. For the gun to be that distressed it would have been a nice touch to see some wear or distress to the buttons. Love your work.

Chris, I just watched your video and enjoyed your mod. It looks good. A few things I noticed though (and I'm not messaging you to criticize, just to help you and anyone else who wants to do this): --- This gun is one of the best Nerf guns to mod--I've done multiple. While you are at it it is easy to make spring and air chamber changes that make things much more powerful. A word of caution on that, though. Changing out for more powerful springs will easily break the T-handle that connects the cocking slide to the air chamber. If you change out the springs and the gun stops working, that will probably be the culprit. You can at that point either mod that T-handle for a greater strength, or change it out for another one. --- I've noticed on your painting that you don't disassemble your gun. You are probably doing that for speed, which I understand. If someone is doing this at home I do recommend painting the parts separately. This will not only achieve better results, but give better wear if the gun is used. --- You mentioned that it would be impossible to make the parts you added functional. This isn't true, actually. I've done both buttons on the panel that you added and LEDs in the front. You can dremel out the hand hold in front of the trigger area and a few others. I've noticed no change in structural integrity after doing this. On my last mod I put a button on the side where you did that made a charging noise, a voltage meter on the other side, and batteries in that hand hold area. I also got rid of that plastic that connects the trigger guard to the handle. I hope this helps anyone.

Well done. I have an old Maverick that has somehow escaped getting painted or modified, to date. I may have to remedy that, once I have time between projects. I have done some custom darts, where I painted the whole dart copper with metallic paint or rub n buff, and they look great. Finally, your added accessories stand out a bit, due to not being weathered like the rest of the piece. I don't recall ever weathering insulated wires, but that could be a fun exercise. I probably would have gone with a braided nylon or flexible conduit. To weather stainless steel parts, you need to take off the finish. HCL/muratic acid does that pretty quick. Though sanding and other compounds can do just as well.
@MichaelTotin7 жыл бұрын
I probably would have patina'd the copper on the grip too. But that's me.

Hey Chris, I've seen you paint a couple nerf guns now and you always keep them assembled. I personally find nerf guns way easier to paint if you take them apart first. Their internals are pretty simple and easy to put back together, but if you're really worried about doing it wrong, there's a number of nerf modders on KZbin who have vids on how to put them back together. Great vids though your projects always turn out cool :)
@tyranusgraves28487 жыл бұрын
I wanna get started right now!
@kadenstonebraker99217 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris! If you ever do this again, I recommend taking the blaster apart (called butterflying), and taking all of the internal pieces out, so that the paint coat is nice and even. If you want, you can check out another nerf youtuber, Self named LordDraconical. He does full modification guides and and does some cool stuff. BTW: no I'm not sponsored to say this, I just want you to know a good way to do this if you choose to do so again. Thanks for reading!

In the future the action on the blaster itself (moving parts) will function better if you disassemble and butterfly the shell before painting, you'll also usually get a more even coat.
@soupermoviecritic85117 жыл бұрын
Chris you beautiful thing you! We love you Man!
@cowboy124aa35 жыл бұрын
You should heat seal the foam parts before you do any painting. Using a quick blast with a heat gun when it just starts to turn dark will give you a better paint adhesion with your coat of primer. If you don't the primer will soak into the foam pores then it won't stick. And i would have put a little silver on the tip of the bullets so they look like they are nickel copper jacket bullets.

Hi Chris. Why do you need to use a primer before using the flat black when the flat black is black+primer?

Nice build! Noticed that the positive and negative wires were exposed when you put them into the hole. Potential hazard to close the circuit if they both touch each other?
@markym123647 жыл бұрын
hey buddy. your paint jobs would probably end up being little easier if you open up the blaster . you can butterfly the shell and take pieces off to paint separately. just some advice
@troika11387 жыл бұрын
Okay that was awesome. 2 questions 1)did you sand the whole Nerf gun or just the logos and 2) I noticed you use a grey primer then a black finish is there a reason for that or is that personal preference? I ask becasue I just use a black primer as the base coat and work from there when painting Nerf stuff
@mattybogs56127 жыл бұрын
