Exactly! I want to eventually make it so that the shell ejects as well, whilst retaining the Trilogy shell. This is the first stage!

I think trying to modify this to essentially do what it can already do, just with older ammo, is more effort than it's really worth. I think the trilogy's true modding potential is 3D printing shells that let it launch other kinds of munitions it doesn't already shoot. Mega rounds, boomco, rival rounds, etc, I think that's what the focus should be. In fact I'm surprised Nerf didn't think to include official single shot mega shells.

@@justajolt Obviously it's worth enough effort to some, like yourself. Make no mistake, I think it would be cool to slide sledgefire shells into adapter shells and use them too, if only for the novelty. I never could find sledgefire shells separately at a price worth paying, I imagine buying them just to put them into adapter shells for this is even more expensive. Seems like the better option is just to 3D print clones of the Trinity ammo shell, unless an adapter using the sledge rounds just allows them to fire more smoothly, given 3d printing's difficult dart fitting. On that note, you said the dart holes don't quite line up right, what about a shell adapter where you load the sledge shell into the front of the adapter, maybe with a cap that fills in the gaps at the front to keep the sledge shell straight inside the adapter. Tubes at the rear of the shell adapter could bend the air flow into the correct spacing of the sledge shell, sort of like how the boomco clips have angled tubes that take the air to the staggered dart chambers.

They only made these bigger shells to remove backwards compatability between the DS-15 and Sledgefire, its a cheeky tactic by Hasbro to get us to buy the more expensive trilogy shells instead of the more older and available sledgefire shells This is also why the DS-15 cant use the older shells too 😢

Whats happening is that the blaster is trying to grab the small hole on the shall to steady it for firing, but cant due to the ridges on the Sledgefire shell itself. You would have to lightly modify the blaster to remove that sadly.

Just found out that they just kinda released the Trilogy shells in a pack of 3s with a holder that attaches to the top rail of the Trilogy... this just dropped in Singapore retail...

If you have to eviscerate a Trilogy shell in order to accommodate a Sledgefire shell, thus effectively turning two shells into one, then you dont really have more shells to fire....i suppose you have cross compatible shells in a way...but its functionally the same result achieved as having two sets of shells -- which was achieved the moment you bought a Trilogy. So really, was anything achieved beyond saving some space?

The idea eventually is to have a single sled which can accommodate Sledgefire shells and remain in the the Trilogy, whilst being able to eject Sledgefire shells to make the platform compatible with either shell stock... and I'm part way there ^_^
