I played both. Dota is way more accessible, with all Heroes being available and EVERYONE and their mother has a Steam account now. And not to mention that DOTA is cross-region, you can just use one account and play on all servers while you'll need to start from Scratch with League. It's still super annoying to grind a new alt account on League with how ridiculous the early game grind is, and the most efficient method were to literally grind bot matches for like 10 hours (dunno if it's any different now). But for the games themselves, League is way easier for beginners. Movement is League is smoother due to higher character rotation speed (as in you can make a 180 turn easier), it offers comeback mechanics that puts you back in the game while a Dota game can really snowball out of control (denying means playing against experienced players can really fuck you up, I've had games where someone on my team were like 5 levels down). And in Dota games can regularly stall out for over an hour because you need to win TWO fights to properly close out games (because of buybacks)

Dota's "comeback" mechanic varies between update. To the point where one update basically is a snowball fest, and the other update was comeback fest. And currently dota is in a weird version than the majority of its life. The meta used to be able to support creative but unusual play; like carry IO, 1-3-1, 1-1-1-jungle-roam, roshan rush. Nowaday the meta can't support that kind of play, so it became like league in a way.

I actually started playing League this year because of Bettel and Axel. I never really took an interest in it before but I’ve had a great time. Even as a new player I’ve only ever had a hard time with a handful of players, but I’ve also made quite a few friends just from playing the game! A lot of my old friends starting getting into it again (but some for the first time) and I think it really put a new spark into our friend group. I avoided playing it for a while because all you hear is “haha League toxic” but now I think I really missed out until now.

Used to show every ones loading bars so everyone could blame the guy who is playing with the potato, then they removed it and now if its a slow load everyone's just pissy at everyone instead. Used to show everyone's individual ping so if someone was playing from half way around the world they could blame the games lag on them, then they removed it and now and its really laggy everyone just gets pissy at everyone. Used to show everyone's rank and so when someone is playing with their diamond ranked friend and your bronze ranked team had to play against a team of diamonds we had someone to blame, now we have to used a third party website and thankfully you can not do that in ranked. Idk I think Riot fails at combating toxicity because toxic players provide income and player numbers, they could place them in a toxic queue but their excuse if that happens they will never learn.

If league actually adds voice chat, it would reduce toxcity. Majority of the time, players ping others in there lane, and pinging can be miss read easily to the point players automatically assume it's to call out on his stupidity, when in actuality it was meant for a positional advantage, or "Push wave". No one really communicates efficiently with text chat because it takes too long to explain to your laners what to actual do and build and how to interact and when to roam and flank, ect. If voice chat was added, it would relieve so much stress and would make the game more of a "Team game". Like, why keep the most powerful communication tool away in a team game where seconds count?

If League Of Legends adds voice chat, it would make the game less toxic. Like, where seconds count, why keep the most powerful tool away from a team game? Communicating with text chat takes too long to explain to a teammate who has no idea what he is doing and has no idea what to build. Voice chat can save so much stress just by telling him verbally "Hey, your champion sucks against your laner, build this, max upgrade that, go hover river to help your jungler have prio for scuttle, roam now for a midlane flank" ect.

Its all about skill ceiling. The higher the skill ceiling the more time people practice a game to play it. As a result more ppl know wtf they're doing as the babies get scared away from the fact that they just lose and lose and lose no matter what because they can't break the initial skill ceiling of simply playing the game. Lots of modern games want a win button instead of the retro era grindset of working up to getting good at a game. And winning is a culmination of long practice and constant instructive failure. So by the time you're a regular player, you're a viable teammate. Add the fact that such games have a lower player pop, so everyone knows everybody. And if you want to continue playing the game, you don't want to be pissing people off. You have a limited pool of players to form teams with.

It's works like this - something is more popular, so it means it has more player base. Bigger pb means more diverse types of players, which will eventually go for bigger reactions and leading behaviour. Because dota is more popular in, for example, Russia, and have bigger pb in there, compared to league, it has more toxic people in there(where's a lot of sexism, racism) and reverse in ru league server. It doesn't mean, that it's not toxic, but percentage of it in there is much less, than in d2... But... I will agree, that lol community in euw is the most toxic shet ever.

Dota 2 is a better game, but LoL is a lot more simplistic (in a good way) and easier to digest. The games are also significantly shorter in LoL. LoL has the advantage of having a support role that's actually fun to play, so I play support in LoL and pos 1-3 in Dota 2, because the support life is so absolutely miserable in Dota. Though if I had to choose just one, it would definitely be Dota 2.

honestly i like Dota than Dota 2 simply bcs theres mod that can make u costumize using other hero skills and u can pick 6 of them, of course it depend on the one that make room how to limit them. if i tired play normal custom Dota, i play Dota mod. i remember like to use motred with ursa passive, alchemist ult, mortre ult, mortred blink, naix lifesteal, Bararthrum passive and go oonga boonga and also Dota graphic is easy to see than Dota 2 tbh.

As a Dota player for over a decade including the time in wc3, I've gotten used to all the toxicity and I absolutely have no idea how toxic it is over there in League although I'm of the opinion that Dota players are tougher mentally simply because we don't have a forfeit option in pubs. Oh, try playing Dota on the EU server. To be fair, it's been like 9 years since I've played, but I remember Russians being so absolutely toxic on their dedicated Russian Server so they would leave for the East Europe (sometimes even West Europe) server, but instead of doing it as a break from toxicity, they would bring toxicity with them. If you load into a pub game with a russian player or two, your mother is about to have many, many romantic adventures.

YESSS. NERISSA LEESS GOOOOO. League is More fun frr because of the shorter games and less complicated mechanics imo. Easier to get into and to master so you can focus on getting better. Faster Pace, focuses more on the gameplay rather than the graphics, smaller learning curve(it don't overwhelm you with all the options for champ/hero, .. etc.) League is just easier for the Casuals. Shorter games are better than the hour long+ per games imo. Most people/casuals arent willing to spend that much time on a game especially if they are losing the whole game. Better to tilt for 30mins than 1h+ LMAO I've played both, i have different group of friends who are die hard gamers on either games lol. Not having a free teleport back to base anytime made me hate the experience more on top of everything lmao. But at the end of the Day, People love the game that they started/got introduced with More than the other.

i hate to break it to you.. both are toxic. dota 2 are oldies who grew up on warcraft 3 . while lol are millenials . anything competitive breeds toxicity is a fact. just go play cs 2 and valorant and see what toxic means .

what captivates me in league is mostly the splash art, skins and the lore. you also don't need to be that competetive to have fun as you can still scale pretty well when behind. whereas dota punishes you hard. its better for tryhard/competetive players. just my opinion tho

Dota 2 is inarguably the better game. LOL is just much easier to get in to and get addicted to. Dota 2, if you last through the "training stage", you get soooo passionate about it that a single loss is devastating. especially when the average game lasts an hour. In League, because it's a much faster game, you can very easily go "fuck that, let's go next" in a match and not care about it as much. Though I am biased since I've played more Dota than League.

In League if you lose **ONE** single fight after 30 minutes the game is over, while Dota has buyback and whatever the mechanic that make buildings invincible is called to prevent the winning team to immediately rush down the base. Objectives like Baron and Dragon buffs are also much stronger than Roshan which is arguably not as impactful until the third kill.

@@saito853 that makes the game also very boring to watch. 2 teams just farm for 30 mins and 1 big combat to decide the game. It's a fun to play game because it's designed that players have a lot of opportunity to outplay the opposite in lanes. Meanwhile in dota when and how you die to the enemy is more important, sometimes supports will go around sacrify for vision and space for their carry to farm, but a dieback from carry means basically over. Late game Dota professional match is peak hype, all super OP abilities clash together

7/10 people who played league, played dota 2 and 7/10 people who play dota also play league. And they dont play both at the same time, they switch between it and they brought their toxicity with them. I used to love dota 2 but the toxicity really just makes the game no fun to play.

Best thing about toxicity in dota is that we get used to it so much (and valve just constantly adding more ways to it with sprays, taunts, voice lines and tips system) it all become way less serious, no one telling you to commit sudoku irl because of mistake, you'll just get tipped most of the time but Dota is way harder for begginers than League so be ready to recieve a lot of tips XD

I came from Dota 6.12, not Dota 2 patch 6.12, but Dota Allstars v6.12. That's the first version I played on WC3 Frozen Throne map. League released, played that for few years until Dota2 released. Changed to Dota 2 and played it until 2015 where I graduated and started working. I thought I liked MOBA games until I tried coming back to it and realized all if not most of them are fuckin kids with bad manner and thinking to myself why the fuck would I play with these people.
