So far, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers get utilized way more on the PS5 than it was ever the case for HD rumble on the Switch. What bugs me is that an option for gyro aiming isn't the norm on Playstation, despite the controller having had that capability for *three* console generations now.

Unless you're somebody who's impatient and wants to dart from this location to that location in the game, then it's a viable option for you. But in the grand scheme of things, having or not having the Loftwing/Zelda amiibo doesn't increase or decrease the overall quality of the game. Still kind of disappointed with the lack of left-handed settings, given how Link has historically always been left-handed
@matthewmuir8884
@matthewmuir8884 3 жыл бұрын
Same. There really should've been a left-handed mode for the motion controls; both joy-cons have the exact same motion control hardware, so all it would've taken would be an option that remaps the motion controls to the opposite joy-cons (sword goes to left, shield goes to right, etc.) and then mirrored either Link or the game to make Link left-handed to match. That certainly would've taken far less time and effort to implement and test than button controls.
@byront2115
@byront2115 3 жыл бұрын
@@matthewmuir8884 Wasn’t that exactly what they did with Twilight Princess on the Wii? Having the entire game mirrored honestly isn’t as comfortable as just having Link mirrored alone, but I’m sure lots of players would settle for that over nothing at all.
@matthewmuir8884
@matthewmuir8884 3 жыл бұрын
@@byront2115 Yes. But, in the case of Twilight Princess on the Wii, it was to make Link right-handed, it wasn't an option (there was no way to un-mirror the game), and it was completely unnecessary as that game's motion controls were just pointer controls and waggle; there was no 1:1 motion. I did say either Link alone *or* the game; didn't I? In any case, you're right: I know I would prefer Link alone being mirrored but would nonetheless be more than fine with playing a mirrored game if it meant left-handed motion controls were available as an option. In fact, I know some right-handed players would want to use such a left-handed option just so they could play a version where Link is left-handed.

stupid suggestion and sorry if i sound like an asshole, but cant you just like, grab the right joycon with the left hand and the left joycon with the right hand?
@matthewmuir8884
@matthewmuir8884 3 жыл бұрын
@@trollfacelotsofshit No, you can't. The Wii remote and nunchuck were made to fit equally comfortably in either hand; with joy-cons, it's as if Nintendo engineered the opposite of that in a lab; they do not fit comfortably in the opposite hands at all. Not to mention, motion controls can only provide visual feedback, and Link would still be right-handed; throwing off that visual feedback.

Skyward Sword's quality aside, I'd feel remiss not to point out that Nintendo, once again, takes a step forward and several giant leaps backward. As usual. Man I can't tell you how disappointed I was with TP HD. For years I had wished they'd bring the game back but with the visuals of the amazing wii U tech demo. But they couldn't even be bothered to smooth out the dated models. The higher resolution makes the blockyness more apparent. So while the textures are thankfully much clearer only the big important characters look any good, everyone else be damned. And even if the Wii U couldn't handle a full game with those visuals(which is a fair point since the tech demo was a single isolated area) we still could have had something at least on par with Xenoblade X or Razor's Edge.

But the again BOTW took so long and when you remake a game you have an entire blueprint to go off of. I’m not a game dev so I can’t speculate much further in this really. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition puts Skyward Sword HD to shame. Not only does it have gameplay improvements you can't get on dolphin just like sshd, but xbchd also looks like a brand new game with completely redone graphics that makes it look like a Switch game & it comes with a brand new epilogue that adds one huge map with 10 hours of extra content and no fast travel is locked behind an overpriced piece of plastic you can only get from scalpers on eBay.

I’m one of those 9 people who really liked skyward sword lol I felt like a lot of people, understandably, couldn’t see past the flaws to see how creative and aesthetically impressive skyward sword was. It really does have a lot going for it but it’s easy to get bogged down by fi, the long intro, the padding, the motion controls... the list goes on. But hidden in there is actually some really fun stuff! I bought the game using a gift card so I only paid $10 myself. But I really thought that it was such a relief to play on the switch compared to the wii version. All of the little quality of life improvements went a long way to bringing skyward sword to a level that might bring in the people who were put off by its annoyances the first time around. I wish it wasn’t $60 though. All the work the team did to make skyward sword more appealing is undone by the price tag being inflated to hell and making people set their expectations too high for what it is...

@@bobdylan1968 I disagree! It has this really vibrant watercolor artstyle that I haven't ever seen before or since. The wii had limiting hardware, so trying to make the graphics realistic wouldn't have worked. I think Twilight Princess is about as gritty as the visuals can push before the low res textures and simple geometry starts to break the aesthetic. Skyward sword took that limiting hardware and ran with it, using the simple models and textures to add to the whimsical mood of the game. I'm a fan of skyward sword's aesthetic. It's easily the most colorful zelda game, and I really love when games aren't afraid to actually have a wide color palette instead of all gray and black. Skyward Sword is going for perhaps a more juvenile tone, and I think that's what puts people off. They all want their games to be hyper-realistic, gritty, edgy, and dark. I think skyward sword has a variety of tones that are aided by the visuals. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes, its tense, sometimes it's somber. There's not a moment in this game where the visuals don't match the scene, and I think that's an achievement.

I never played the original Skyward Sword, always hearing about how it handled the motion controls and hand-holding kept me away from it until by the time I was willing to try it, there were rumors of an HD version. Now, I got this remaster at a $30, which I think is very solid given I was able to get one of those elusive amiibo. My time with the game was very enjoyable, and the padding was thankfully not something that bogged down my experience all too much thanks in part to the fast travel; although, that U-turn maneuver happened more than I would like, especially when looking for the Goddess Cubes. I will say though, this was the first 3D Zelda game that I completed since Ocarina of Time, and I had a smile pretty much every hour of the game. The dungeons in particular were a strong point for me, as I really liked the direction of being more puzzle-oriented to progress with your items over just finding a key like in some older Zeldas. The item use was good for each dungeon, and I was so happy to see them all get used for the final dungeon with some being used more extensively for platforming puzzles in other areas of the game. I don't think it's a perfect game, but it did become one of my favorite Zelda games over the course of my playthrough. I'll have to try it with motion controls next time I play it.

As someone who never played SS and hates motion controls. I love how this game plays with regular controls on the switch, it reminds me of those sections in Metal Gear Rising where you have to finish the enemy by slashing with the right stick just like in this game. The only thing that takes a bit to get used to is holding the L button for camera control but once you are used to it it feels pretty natural. This game gets a bad rep and I understand why, but it’s way easier to appreciate in a world where all games want to be either an open world or a souls clone. A linear, tightly designed experience with an unique combat system feels like a breath of fresh air and I’m absolutely loving it.

@Cheese Bruh. I love the legend of Zelda, I've grown up playing the series, and want to 100% every 3D Zelda game. The thing is, I have a life, and it isn't like I make LOZ my personality. As much as I like the game, I don't want to be blind to Nintendo's BS. It's not about the extra 10 bucks, but about the extra 90 bucks for the entire game plus the amibo. I don't have that kind of money. I'm a high schooler, who gets 25$ a week. Stop caring about how passionate people are about a series and just enjoy the games.

@Cheese Nintendo defenders are weird. I HAVE beaten more than 10 LoZ games and I DO care about the extra 10 dollars on this decade old game with additional functionality locked behind an amiibo. Loving video games doesn't mean you have to put up with bullshit business practices

About they doing a worst scam with the amiibo next time, I thought the same about Metroid Dread after SR's awful amiibo but they are not doing anything with it, and just a few months after SSHD. I don't understand Nintendo.

The Red Steel 2 mention is appreciated. i played RS2 when it came out and it was so fun, an amazing display of what motion controlls could allow you to do , combat wise it even gives skyward sword a run for its money. shame RS1 was so bad that most people didnt give the sequel a look, they honestly didnt need to make it a sequel since its completeley difrent from the first one, going from a relistic Yakuza crimeworld setting to a cel Shaded mix of Samurai and cowboy tropes. Hope Ubisoft uses this franchise for a VR game or something , or just ports the 2 games to the swich. Great as always Nerrel

God, Red Steel 2 was such a badass game, it DEFINITELY needs a Switch port.

it just feels SO good when someone tells so much truth in such a precise, concrete way. Not to harsh to feel "forced", but also not too gentle to feel unsatisfied. This guy just nails it every time and I LOVE IT.

Finished the game today!! I didn't want to pay for it but a friend came home with it and I asked him to borrow it. I agree almost on everything you said!! The QoL improvements are beyond anything that I've ever seen. Tbh I hadn't have any issues with camera controls since I had found ZL camera be way more fast and convinient. Also, I found revisiting all places for a 3rd time (for the song) a welcoming change of pace since they managed to make everything so different, but the game was a pain when you revisit those a 2nd time, I don't like recicled bosses and there's two fire/lava dungeons (?). I have mixed feeling for what SS is, I always loved dungeons on Zelda games (I need those in BoTW TT-TT) but its repetitivness drags me down a lot. This remaster is amazing for first walkthroughs and SS lovers!!

Man you're so right about how this would have been a great game for haptic feedback since it already goes through so many different "tactile gameplay experiences" due to the push to have as much motion controls as possible.

What kinda pisses me off is that while this outperforms emulators, it's purely because of how much they fucked the original game over with trivial stuff. They added cutscene and text skips, and let you ignore Fi, and those are basically the sole improvements made over the original. That it makes such a huge difference is not praise of the remaster, but a condemnation of Nintendo's original fuckup.

THANK YOU! This is still absolute dog shit when you compare it to the full on remakes being sold for the exact same price. Oh yeah and they don't have CORE gameplay mechanics locked behind a $25 toy🙄

@@SkyBlueFox1 I decided to replay the game a few weeks ago and the first hour was absolute agony because of how little I was actually playing the game, so I’d say being able to skip the cutscenes is a pretty huge improvement Btw I stopped playing after that hour so I don’t even know if it’s gonna slow down any time soon

Yep. Absolutely beggars belief how nintendo could have thought it was ok. Like who playtested it and said yeah this is cool, I love being told what a green ruppee is 300 times per game, don't change a thing! Add to that the fact the motion controls flat out don't work (and even if they did, they make link run around holding is sword aloft, looking so retarded it's hysterical), and you've got probably the worst game they've ever had the arrogance to crap out and charge money for.
