For years, the bass player has really amazed me. He's not doing a whole lot, but his timing and effects are so technical. Being able to add notes in intermittently like that and still stay on rhythm and keep everything sounding good is really impressive and he does it on a 4 string Fender, he isn't going crazy with strings and fretless shit. Simple and effective.

I agree with you on timing and simplicity in the notes and playing :) The guy (John Davis) has one of the most advanced, cutting-edge pedalboard I've ever seen for bass, including Eurorack modules at some point. That's where it goes crazy :)

The mathematics of preciseness dissolved into de poetry of time and space. Jojo Mayer defies the mathematically and musically undefiable. He surpasses that frontier, playing with that famous «between 0 and 1». One of the few drummers/musicians in history that deserves a place in the category of genius.

Not only is this great but Nerve seems to have taken over where D&B left off.It seems the guys like photek and Squarepusher aren't making the cool stuff like thy used to. Not only are they keeping it going but they're doing it with real musicians and have taken the art form even further.

Man, Aaron's improvisation on the snare drum, especially the development around the 2:00 mark... killin' it. I am loving the new output from you cats, for real. I've been deep in your sound ever since learning about you through a Tone Factor interview John did about effect pedals. Completely changed my life... for real, you all are beyond inspiring! I am loving how each new release is more and more integrated. With the latest record, Nerve, it was amazing how, at points, it was hard to distinguish who was doing what! I have always been deep into your output, but this period seems to be like Nerve coming into true fruition, like the vision is blossoming... now to imagine what the next crazy step will be! Haha. One other thing, will purchasing this EP be available through Bandcamp? Also, just to make certain, is there still a plan to drop vinyls of Ghosts and Nerve on Bandcamp? I think I have checked almost every day to make sure I didn't miss an email to announce their posting. Thanks for any info. Keep it up, cats. Nerve is something truly special!

He's their sound guy that tours with them and is with them in studio, but he does more than just takes control of the mix. Jojo is running into, I believe, a Kaoss Pad, so when you see Aaron fidgeting about with that colorful pad, he's tweaking Jojo's sound in realtime. The delays and stuff that you hear on the kit are Aaron in realtime. Wonderful stuff. Really makes Jojo step forward into the realm of produced sounding drums, but without it being predetermined! I consider Nerve to be a quartet because of how integrated Aaron is. Right around 2:10 to 2:15 is a great example of Aaron improvising.
