There are a number of important muscles in the shoulder region that move the scapula or the humerus. These muscles have a number of similarly important nerves innervating them, mostly from the very nearby brachial plexus.
Let's look at 6 of the most important nerves and 2 pairs of smaller nerves:
Accessory nerve
Axillary nerve
Suprascapular nerve
Dorsal scapular nerve
Thoracodorsal nerve
Long thoracic nerve
Pectoral nerves
Subscapular nerves
It's going to take a while!

Although don't know most of the nerve names, I understand what you were saying fairly clearly and even tried to connect pain with areas to massage according to where the nerves came from. I however won't mix it with my meridian knowledge which may suggest headache to be treated via feet. or lower backpain via hands. Initially learning this as I had difficulties locating acupoints along the spine(feeling too many gaps than it actually has). I found this channel and Autonomy Zone quite helpful. Many thanks.

Thank you very much, well explained and logically described, therefore easy to understand for not just an academic needing to swot for exams but also a lay person such as myself. I had an accident in July 4 months ago, but since I had fractures elsewhere (maxilofacial) no attention was given to my shoulder / arm injury since it was just all lumped together as a "soft tissue injury". 4 months down the line I'm still in agony, waking up from agonising pain in the early hours of the morning, and have already offended one doctor attempting to prod me, telling him I didn't need his physiotherapy advice. Watching this video has now helped me understand I have a shoulder compression injury to the bracial nerve complex in particular to the accessory nerve affecting my trapezius muscle, causing agonising nerve pain, no prodding or physiotherapy will help in the short term and I am better leaving it alone to heal naturally without complication. I've arranged another telephone appointment with another doctor to get some more appropriate painkiller meds. Thank you for your informative video. ✌🙏

I get brachialis and serrated edge mixed up because the brachialis makes the bicep look bigger and so as a result I think of being shredded so then I call it the wrong muscle. It's not a knowledge thing it's just a mixing up the words thing.

Hi Sam, What qualifications do you have in order to teach anatomy? I’m just curious. Thanks!
@SamWebster
@SamWebster 4 жыл бұрын
I've got a BSc in Anatomical Science and a PhD in molecular, cell and developmental biology, but there aren't many anatomy teachers in the UK. We might be looking for an someone to teach anatomy later this year that has some human anatomy experience and enthusiasm for teaching, so requirements are variable.
