I'm going to tell you my story. So on my test I was EXTREMLY nervous to the point where i actually told the examiner before we started. I just told him straight. I said I'm really nervous and I even joked with him saying to him he has the pedals on his side. Anyways he just told me to relax and just drive like how you normally drive. So that's what I did. After he started asking me what I do and I told him I'm a personal trainer and he was really interested. He was telling me that he also joined the gym after not going for 2 years and we started talking about gym and boxing etc.. Anyways the examiner was really friendly and is exactly how an examiner should be. I really respected him for that. I passed and it was such a good feeling. What helped me was talking my way through what I was going to do next. For example I'm on a roundabout. I would ask my examiner which exit he wants me to take and I would point at the exit. If he asked me to turn left or right I would ask him this turn right here. So I was always veryfying with the examiner what he wants me to do. Rather than me assuming the turn or guessing.. My advice would be is constantly ask the examiner for verification.. Even my examiner told me he said you can ask me a 1000 times and it's OK.

That’s great that you had such a good examiner. Unfortunately on my second test, which I went into more confident the before, my examiner was extremely grumpy and borderline rude. When he first got into the car I asked ‘everything alright?’, you know casually, and he said ‘why wouldn’t it be?’. It was a frosty morning and my car is a bit old and crappy, I had got the ac just right so there wouldn’t be any fog on the windscreen, and the examiner started messing with the ac (fair enough if he wants to be comfortable) and fogged up all the windows completely. I asked if I could pull over and he said “it’s your test not mine”. Fair enough he can’t give me any hints but come on, who talks to people like that. And he didn’t apologise or say anything about how he had just created a serious challenge for me that I wouldn’t normally have. He mumbled the entire test and I had to ask him for clarification on everything. And unlike your examiner who was happy to clarify, my examiner sighed every time I asked. Finally when we were headed back to the test centre, he told me we were doing the emergency stop, which seemed weird to me as we were seconds away from the test centre car park. It’s such a shame there’s examiners like that.

@@geem2094 I'm sorry to hear this. This is definely not how an examiner should be. This is the reason why people fail their tests. Alot of times it can be the examiners negative energy that can cause alot of stress and can then translate into you making mistakes you wouldn't normally make. Make a complaint against him to the test center or write a review on Google/ trustpilot. I hope you pass your next one. It's a sad truth but alot of the times the test will involve some sort of "luck" so you have to have the ideal circumstances / ideal weather / ideal route/ ideal examiner. When you book your next test. Try finding a date and time where it'll be quiet. Maybe a weekend. I wish you the best

Another good tip is to give yourself a reward,no matter whether you pass or fail. If you set aside a day to do whatever makes you feel positive. For me, it's reading, hugging my cat,or going for a long walk along the beach. It's a kindness to yourself for putting in the hard work and not giving up,no matter the result

My own nervousness was attacking in my stomach. It was as if I haven't eaten for the past 3 days. I couldn't sleep then I came across this video early morning yesterday around 4am while my test was 7:23am 25th September 2024. After watching this video and some comments, I opened my bible to philippians 4:13 " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens." I kept ringing it in my mind all through the test. That helped me to get rid of nervousness despite the fact that the examiner took me to a different route I didn't practice in, God still helped me to pass. Thanks everyone for your input

My tip is to accept the nerves. Their isn't a single person that does the test who isn't nervous. By accepting the nerves and you taking control of the nerves and not them taking over. In other areas of life that make you anxious think how you deal with it. Now try to use that mindset when on test . All I did on test was talk through the steps in my head

@@DrivingSchoolTV I wanted to come back here and say Thank you Francis for all those wonderful video. I can’t believe I passed this morning, I was so happy that I was ugly crying in the car. I did have one hiccup after ten mins on the drive test but I told myself, you know what, I’m going to drive on and show my examiner that I’m safe. Kept on driving and the next thing I realized I was back in the test centre. So I wanted to share to everyone that I indeed was nervous but take that hiccup and let that be your drive to drive better. It’s all in the attitude.

@@Adam-nr6ov I had mine today, my third one, and passed. If you can drive with your instructor you can drive with an examiner, I believe it’s only anxiety provoking because you can’t predict the route and can’t predict what will happen on the road. Some of it is just luck and once you pass you’ll built the experience so much it will be as nerve wracking as riding a bike😊

These tips are great! Eating well and staying hydrated is more important than you think…😅 I also made a playlist with music that makes me feel happy and confident, and I listened to that both before and during my test. I don’t really like small talk, so instead of just silence I had something nice in the background. This was able to make me feel more focused on the driving, because I wasn’t focusing on the fact it was a test. If you’re still learning to drive: *You’ve got this!!! I know you can do it.* ❤️💪

Great tips, I didn’t believe I could pass but my instructor did. I had a session of hypnotherapy for test nerves and driving confidence and that really helped me. I struck lucky with my examiner as got the friendliest, most helpful one at my local test centre, he went out of his way to get me to relax. We’d got lots in common and had worked in similar areas (education) meant we chatted away and even had a few jokes. I found getting to by test centre 15 mins early helped as gave time to have a walk round and stretch before the test. I was actually calmer on my test than on some lessons and was so pleased I passed first time.

Despite the busy school morning, traffic and many commercial trucks, I stayed composed, did my mirror checks, and drove my best. I was disappointed at the 7 minors because I didn't sleep at all I was so exhausted and nervous that I felt drained at times. But I stayed composed focused on my mirror checks and passed. Really good advice,as per. I remember saying that exact affirmation to myself when I had first passed my test. Also,Kalms are really good for nerves. I take them myself before bed. Regarding diet: I think it's best to stick to complex carbs to avoid that drop in energy levels. Maybe make a smoothie with bananas, oats, nuts, and dairy-free milk to drink before a driving test. Yoga, meditation, or a long walk are also good for settling the nerves.

I created a playlist to listen to on the way which I knew would relax me a bit. I also got my question in first by asking my examiner how long he had been doing the job and what other jobs he had. It meant he could talk away and i could concentrate. I didn't go for full commentary when driving but i did point things out such as 'is that white car going to pull out' or 'right mister just you stay where you are' it made me think that i was at least telling the examiner I'd seen them even if nothing happened. Last one even though I'd been all over the test route due to traffic on the day we went back to the test centre the opposite way from what I was used to which did throw me slightly.
