@@kenkaniff8428 Doping in cycling is as old as the sport. Just because you like a rider doesn't mean he's clean. These guys ride for money and glory. If you are not winning, you turn into a domestique which pays a lot less. The race you don't see is that for new medical technologies. Of course talent plays a role too but if had to make a bet on if they were doping or not, I'd say 100 percent of winners are using PED's, even if TUE's.

The rules allow riders to select a lane when launching into their sprint, which is what Sagan did by selecting a line to the right of WVA. @@Tim-K. people always say Cav owes his wins to leadouts. If it works so well, why haven’t other teams figured out how to do it as well as [insert whatever team Cav has been on]? Oh maybe it’s because their sprinter isn’t strong enough to win. Cav has won several times with several teams and u think they all miraculously learned how to do perfect leadouts when other teams could’ve been doing the same thing? No, he’s just always been faster and that’s why it works. You also somehow forget all the stages he’s bailed on his leadout due to it failing. Take stage 4 from last year for example. I’m sick of people picking and choosing which sprinter “has all the work done for them”. And Cav literally displayed insane form coming into the race so idk what u on about.

Everyone is blaming WVA cuz Sagan pointed at him making a scene but I watched it on my TV in slo-mo about 10 times and Peter cut towards Ewan and the barrier BEFORE WVA changed his line!! But YES WVA did get a BIT dirty by pulling a "Sagan move" on Sagan himself but that's a bunch sprint for you. It's BRUTAL!!! But WVA is NOT why Sagan squeezed Ewan into the barrier. That was Ewan HIMSELF and a BIT of Sagans fault. If you watch the replay and do slo-mo you will see Ewan was SO CLOSE to the barrier that his front wheel actually TOUCHES one of the legs to the barrier!! He did it to himself and then within .5secs Peter just made it IMPOSSIBLE for him to try to regain his speed and line!! WVA is NOT why Sagan ended up where he was. Sagan put HIMSELF there and then YES WVA did squeeze him a bit but nothing Sagan hasn't done MANY times before!! A d for the record, I can't stand WVA!!!

If you watch the replay and do slo-mo you will see Ewan was SO CLOSE to the barrier that his front wheel actually TOUCHES one of the legs to the barrier!! If there is no more than a 1 second gap between consecutive riders they are given the same time. If there is a gap then it is seen as two separate groups, with the time gap between them being taken between the times of the first rider in each group. (e.g group 1 rider finishes in 04'12'15, the first time there is more than a second of a gap is a rider at 04'12'30, so even though there was maybe only 1-2 seconds between this rider and the last rider in the group ahead he loses 15 seconds)

@@heliumtrophy My comment is clearly about the future. Cav is obviously not head and shoulders the fastest sprinter like he was 10 years ago, but watching this sprint, he surely would have had a decent chance still. With Cav being in a team with another, much younger sprinter capable of winning stages, there was always a risk that the team would make the legitimate decision to go with the younger option. A year is a long time for a 37 year old professional cyclist, but if he still has the legs, I would like to see him join a team that will back him to go to the tour. Sponsors would clearly be interested and perhaps the opportunity might attract a couple of up and coming lead out men... maybe there's a new Mark Renshaw who would like to make his name by leading out Cav to stage win number 35! If enough people keep taking about it, maybe it can influence all the people involved, like team managers, sponsors, young lead out men, and even Cav himself!

But I think maybe he should go out ON TOP after matching Eddy's record and just winning British Nationals last week for 2nd time, I think it MAY be best to bow out now, GRACEFULLY rather than coming back and not achieving it. I'm honestly torn between letting him have another go at it and saying, he should bow out GRACEFULLY now. These new sprinters are phenomenal and I DO believe Cav can break Eddy's record but what if he DOESN'T??? That wouldn't be the way ANYONE would want to leave ANY sport!!! But that's the one thing ALL athletes struggle with!!! MANY TIMES they should have retired after a major victory but they come back and have a shit season and don't get to leave on a high note. It's a VERY VERY hard thing for ANY athlete to decide on. Cav is a LEGEND and I'll forever be grateful I got to watch him race in person, meet him, took MANY pics with him, got him to autograph MANY items for me and whatever choice he makes I will think no less of him. @@kenkaniff8428 you are just saying a lot of BS. You can't ask to a following rider, like Sagan was, to not deviate at all. Otherwise the leading athlete will always win because the others can't pass him. But the sprinter needs to keep his line once he starts his sprint. Sagan was starting his sprint and of course he needed to go left or right. He cannot be aware of the position of 200 athletes and ask permission to all of them. Ewan was never alongside him and Sagan did nothing to impede him, whereas Van Aert did exactly that. He was fully aware of Sagan's position and squeezed him, the gap to the barriers disappeared and Ewan was screwed. Sagan needed to bump into Van Aert to avoid a crash. That's a clear relegation as far as I am concerned.

There are classified climbs in Denmark? It's one of the flattest and lowest countries in Europe: low point -7 meters (below sea level), high point 171 meters, average elevation 31 meters. Even the Netherlands has a higher point, 1059 meters. And since we're talking about the Polka Dot Jersey, how are climbs categorized? How, precisely, does a Cat 1 differ from a Cat 2? If two locations on a road have a given elevation difference, say 100 vertical meters, and a given horizontal distance apart, say 1000 meters, the climb is 10%. What category would that be? Did Henri Desgrange address this question? Does the Amaury Sports Organization provide any definitions or metrics?

What you fail to realize is that MC got the jersey (we all know that) but he wants it for more than just ONE DAY!! He AND THE TEAM want it for as long as they can keep it. WHO WOULDN'T!!?! MC now has 6 points in that competition which means that even if another rider comes along on stage 4 and takes ALL 6 points in the 6 cat 4 climbs scheduled for that stage, MC will STILL retain the polka dots!! If he did not go out in the break there's a chance he could lose the jersey. It doesn't seem you're thinking this through COMPLETELY my friend!! Cheers🤘🇬🇧

I disagree!!!

You just have to take 4 photos of the last 4 seconds. He just blocked the riders at the right of him. He goes meters to the right. Sagand and maybe others were faster. He was second because his mate put him in a good spot. But he does not have the fastest sprint. Sagan, Ewan, Jacobsen, Philipsen and Groenewegen all were faster in this sprint

@@Catharsis791 look I REALLY don't like WVA!! I just don't like him!! But it's CLEAR that it was a CLEAN SPRINT and even Peter has said so since it happened AND MOST IMPORTANTLY the commiseurs have chosen to NOT relegate WVA. It WAS A CLEAN SPRINT. I'm one of the ONLY people to say this since the minute it happened AND EVEN Peter HIMSELF and the commiseurs have agreed. It's amazing how many people said WVA was at fault and I would LOVE to see WVA relegated but it was absolutely a clean sprint! Bunch sprints are BRUTAL but I'm sorry, this one was CLEAN!!!

Well actually Sagan said literal quote: ‘I was happy I was still in one piece…’ Commissioners in France don’t sanction the yellow/green jersey who rides for one of the biggest teams and is a known name that fast. You literally have to smash your helmet against an adversary or give him a elbow. Diverting 5 meters to block 2 other faster sprinters is not enough. Conclusion: commission supports dick moves and crashes in the peloton. I can’t recall not more than 5 sprints being sanctioned. It is a no rules sport were injury is tolerated as long as the right guy does it. In F1 with Verstappen the same although there it is stricter

@@Tibovl You'll need to try going 60kph on a bike sprinting first to say stuff like "there was still just enough space to squeeze into". Sagan has one of the best bike handling skills in the race, so does Wout(both experienced mountain bikers). If someone is literally going into your way at that speed, you need to stay aware of the situation and think about your own safety. There MIGHT have been still a space, but Sagan surely lost speed because he got scared he is gonna crash into Wout. We can't know if Sagan would've won, but he surely couldnt give all his power in the sprint cuz of that.

Pause at 00:03 that’s cheating, notice he is using a 56 tooth ring so when he cross chains he can get more speed with an easier cadence. He is clearly cross chaining, been using this method for years now using bigger chain rings in order get faster speeds when cross chain in heavy winds. I live in flat lands and heavy winds every day. Air pressure is also high. Approaching 45km on a bike your helmet is trying to rip out of your head with this air pressure and winds here (Southern Ontario shit weather and even worst shit roads). This comment is sarcasm for those gullible lol
