This video is part of a series on learning to heal Attachment wound, and explores the important relationship of attachment and its relationship to our nervous systems. Using concepts from Polyvagal Theory in Therapy (Deb Dana LCSW), this video provides not only the basic recommendations for connecting to our Vagus Nerve, but also provides in depth, therapy related exercises.
***********************************************************************
HEALING ATTACHMENT WOUNDS SERIES:
This series begins with understanding the primary issues around Attachment Theory and healing Attachment Styles, and will then go deeper into issues around Attachment wounds and related trauma and relationship issues.
I will be posting daily 5 to 10 minute videos after this one on Healing Attachment Wounds and Understanding Attachment Styles and Relationships, as well as tying these topics where appropriate to Complex Trauma, and challenging childhoods and parenting.
Many of you are already very familiar with Attachment, so I hope to add some additional research and topics you will find helpful, and potentially new ways of understanding yourself and life.
While we cannot fully heal attachment wounds without being in relationship with others, these videos will be providing some exercises you can use to enhance your healing journey.
I am so passionate about the relationships between Attachment, Trauma and Relationships, and I truly value your thoughts and ideas, so please share and add any additional information or stories you feel will also be helpful in healing our lives!

Love love love this helpful content. Polyvagal Theory is exactly what we will be studying this weekend. This content has shed so much light on many areas of my life. As a person who has survived repeated violent attacks over the last 50 years, I am grateful to be able to continue to heal One Day At A Time in every way. Twenty PhDs and Psychotherapists in addition to yourself have been nurturing guides to me over the last year. Therapeutic connections have been pivotal in my journey towards self awareness, reinforcing boundaries and developing inner strength. I see the growth & victories in spite of my CPTSD. I grew up in an active warzone the first 15 years of my life. My story has already been drafted and edited. In 2023 It will be published overseas first. Thank You Dr Kim for sharing your authenticity, empathy, compassion, tenderness, humanity, and agape love with us In spite of your high demand life. Best to you and your family. One Love.

Thank you so much! I’ve been in weekly therapy for PTSD and the poly vagal chart has been introduced and I’ve been working through it but it’s so difficult for me to explain. I was able to send this video to my parents to explain it better and I am so appreciative of that.

You're presuming one lives in a safe enough place to be able to do any of that. Apartment living doesn't allow for singing or even music (I'm a very private person), and I'm old enough to worry about dying and leaving more journals behind (and have no children). Have to figure out what to do with 50 years worth of them as it is. I've had yet more trauma from abusive narcissistic neighbors, and there is no room in my large apartment to be able to even relax in. Nothing but eggshells, and I can't afford to move. I'm never NOT in fight or flight.

A main component of succeeding in therapy and doing these exercises is making sure all of your needs are fully met. Think mazlows heiarchy of need if that’s the case that needs to all be addressed before you attempt to practice these things since you need that safe place to regulate to

i reject, mandalas, yoga, guided imagery as part of new age false spiritual practice. i do not recommend trance induction in any form. learning to be present in reality and relationships with feelings and truth.

Yoga and guided imagery are not trance inducing and are not new age nor spiritual necessarily. Yo need to understand what you are rejecting.
