Vice: Project Doom should have been given an SNES sequel. That game had a terrific presentation but unfairly ignored run on the NES

I really like a lot of the mid summer 90 and onwards action games on the NES. I think it was just a combination of both the memory they could stuff into a cart and action games in general coming into their own at the same time that made a lot of those titles just really good and a lot of them were one-offs (like VICE). I'd also add Low G Man into the mix. Yeah, it's a stupid 'super hero', but the game has some cool mechanics and I really dug that each vehicle he can drive has 'secret moves', which as the walker's mega jump which is used to find secret areas.
@RobotMonkeytron

@@heavysystemsinc. Both great games, and I played the hell out of Low-G-Man. I only got to try out Vice Project Doom later, I think it came out around or after the SNES, but I missed out until much later. Shame, too, it's a winner for sure!

For me, it's Hebereke (localized as Ufouria: The Saga, but you're better off playing the Hebereke translation patch). A Hebereke sequel could have been amazing. There is a lot of room for a unique, Metroid-like adventure platformer to evolve in the jump to 16-bit. There are actually a lot of weird Hebereke spin-offs for the Super Famicom, and some of them are visually magnificent, which makes me even more disappointed that a sequel never materialized.

It's funny that you mention Chip and Dale right before Little Samson since basically that game did what Chip n Dale didn't in bringing different type of characters to play (although without multiplayer).

It's a common misconception that we are attracted by gravity to the surface of the Earth. In fact it is Sgt. Slaughter's chin that keeps us from floating off into the infinity.

They remade "A Boy and His Blob", it's on steam, and I think the Wii.

While it is out of the scope of 'retro' consoles I'd like to point out that a remake (or more like reimagening) of a Boy and his Blob came out on the Wii. I played it and loved it. It has charm, many puzzles and is a lot more forgiving when it comes to game structure. Instead of having one giant map you have to complete many smaller levels, each giving you a small selection of various jellybeans. Use them correctly to finish the level. There are even boss fights in this one too. Definitely recommend.

The bosses in Little Samson are so scary. I’d be afraid of what they could do with SNES

Great video. Have you already talked about or seen: Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom? It’s definitely a follow up to Dragons Trap, but it sort of feels like a spiritual successor to Little Samson.

There was an arcade version of Kickle Cubicle with a polished 16-bit look! It was called Meikyūjima. Also, A Boy and His Blob got a sequel on the Wii of all things, but I haven't spent any time with it. Heard good things, though!

Kick Master was super good! I played it for the first time a couple years ago and couldn't believe it was an NES-era game because of all the unique ideas it has. Ninja Crusader looks like a hybrid of Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania so I think I'll check that one out.

Finally talking about Ninja Crusaders on here? Awesome! I loved that game, but I never beat it because it was so difficult. It is easier in two player because as long as one of you survives you don't get sent back to the beginning of the level. Oh, and A Boy and His Blob got a remake. I think it is on Steam now.

Good news, Felix the Cat went public domain. I'm considering making the sequel myself, that game was pretty ambitious for those days. I can do a 16 bit style, but it would be rendered graphics like Donkey Kong Country. That aside, great video! I never even thought about the good games that deserved sequels back then!

Idk if anyone is aware but Kickmaster and Low G Man were programmed by an icon by the name of Mr. Yagawa that made Battle Geregga and Batrider, Bakraid, Ibara, Recca, and Muchi Muchi Pork and Pink Sweets. He started how high it's cool how is career developed started with KID. He is still around working with City Connection.
