Why are there so few NES Demos? Is it because the NES wasn't popular in Europe? Or something else?

There is a ton of homebrew NES games, though, and a good deal of them come from Europe, so I think it is more related to the nature of the platform. Like, games are more natural to game consoles, while console demos not so much (situation is not unique to NES). Either way, that's a pity, as a lot of cool demo stuff can be achieved on these platforms.
