The intro screen where the commandos jump out of the plane always reminded me of the view out of my window growing up! Just a generic cityscape at night with random lights, peppering the skyline 😊

Differences between Famicom and NES: NES version had no secret passages, less forgiving hitboxes, 3 shots per weapon (but no ammo retention between stages, and no stacking beyond 3 shots), soldiers have less sensational die animations, fewer sound effects in general, fewer karate soldiers from left side of screen, final boss much easier (no left-hand-side spawns).

In East Asia languages, blue and green are same word. So this is just a mistranslation. Example, Guan Yu is descripted use "blue glaive" in old documents, but modern franchises usually give him green cloth and green glaive.

When detonating those landmines there are underground passages at 3:10 , 8:05 & 10:54 which was removed on the NES version's Rush'n Attack. The NES version is also more difficult. It is as difficult as after beating this Famicom version Green Beret it goes back to the beginning but this time more enemies.

Actually this is the Japanese version on the Famicom (Japanese NES), which utilized memory cards rather than cartridges. Also, the U.S. version was called "Rush 'n' Attack", although the arcade version was still called "Green Beret".

Quite surprised to see each of the weapon guys only give you one shot for the bazooka at a time. And you keep the ammo from one stage to another? Wow. And thank you SO MUCH for uploading this. I heard a rumor years ago about being able to go down ladders after blowing up mines. I went through Rush N Attack backwards and forwards and never found it. I didn't know that secret was in Green Beret instead!

Notable arcade differences: No co-op mode, more standard soldier types (bazooka, grenadier, crawler, paratrooper, mortar launcher), different weapon setups (no pistol or star; has flamethrower; bazooka has 4 shots), karate soldiers very unforgiving if timed wrong, gun soldiers constantly appear from behind, dog boss attack patterns different, stage 4 (5?) boss changed to flame troopers, different mission profile (POW rescue), stages 2 and 6 absent, loop is absurdly hard to complete, music more mundane.

I remember my cousin asking, why is it called rush'n attack if the two guys are americans? It's not Russian, it's rush-and, or rush-in.
@Sarato12 жыл бұрын
More correctly: It's for the Famicom Disk System, which had games on floppies, and that's why it has loading times. So it was not memory cards. =P
