You can tell the Switch pushed Nintendo to think long and hard on how to effectively communicate their product's value to any and all consumers. The only ad that can compare is the "Wii would like to play" campaign. That one's probably more charming, but it's still hard to beat the effectiveness of the original Switch reveal.

The GameCube ad is not a commercial, it is pure art. It seems that with time they have become less creative.

It's kinda interesting too, because it's the only 3DS family ad that uses the red Nintendo branding they (re) introduced with the Switch. Everything prior was still Wii-era white.

You know, you gotta appreciate that the company comes right out and says which features are removed and what to look out for *right in the ad.*

I got so excited when my dad bought me the Japanese Family Computer. I miss my old console. we played lots of games, bartered cartridges, and even cut classes just to play it. But when i saw my neighbors gray Family Computer (NES, US version), i find it wierd looking. but played the same games. i still like the Family Computer more. The last modern console that i bought for myself was the Nintendo WII. i was about to buy Switch but got too busy with lots of things. Now its looks like i might get a Switch 2. :)

So much fun with Nintendo consoles over the years! Thank you Nintendo and let's continue our joyous journey together~

People complaining the Switch 2 is just a bigger, more powerful Switch and they are not innovating. Well this collection of adverts prove Nintendo have a track record of releasing the same console with minor tweaks. I mean how many Gameboys have there been? I lost count! Also, man adverts were so much better in the 80s and 90s. Everything is so safe and bland now.

Looking back at the Wii U ad, I can see why it failed. There was way too much attention put on the actual gamepad. It definitely came off as an add on.

How quickly we went from "mouse humping a gameboy" to "corporate instructional video" needs to be studied.

It's abysmal how they introduced the Wii U only as a new controller and not a new console, no wonder it failed so bad
@VVM20259 күн бұрын
The Wii U ad makes it look like a screen controller add-on for your Wii. You can see why it failed. It was so badly explained, the system itself wasn't even mentioned. They should've called it "Wii 2" and showcase the console's graphical capacities and rounder design first, with the gamepad being presented at the end, a quick montage of what it could do, but not put all the focus on it and it alone. Also that early prototype gamepad really looks like a Wii add-on accessory.
