Met Chuck at the Felt Forum around 1980 at a Mustafa Hamsho fight. He was ringside with a smoking hot date, all dressed in black with a leather jacket and his Golden Gloves medallion. Looked totally badass. Huge man. Shook my hand and his fingers went halfway up my forearm. He took a minute to speak to me and my buddy and seemed happy to talk. Good guy, old school. All the best to ya, Chuck.

I heard the bear was a 2-1 favorite. Can you believe Wepner got in the ring with a bear? I don't care if he was muzzled, declawed or whatever, that bear could knock your head off with one swipe. I guess Ali was the 1st human to knock Wepner down.

You were one tough man Mr Wepner with a chin of granite! Used to see your bouts on Saturday TV back in the days when the heavyweight division was filled with the best of fighters of our time. I was at the Oscar De La Hoya fight with Arturo Gatti card at the Garden in the early 90’s and who sat next to me but the man from Bayonne, New Jersey Chuck Wepner! You were there with a young female and I remember she kept bugging you to take her to see George Foreman, I was enjoying my rum+ coke’s at those 11th row seats and I didn’t want to be rude and say anything because everyone enjoyed the fights,I also think we saw Shannon Briggs on the undercard also but I gotta look up who he fought that night because he got caught with a couple good punches and lost I think, it’s been quite a few years already. Maybe a handshake someday and thanks for representing Bayonne New Jersey so very well. 👍🥊

I always thought that Chuck Wepner was a decent guy but boy was I wrong. Any human being who abuses animals is a despicable lowlife also and most importantly allowing scene 2:58 in the movie and hinting that he punched Ali and knocking him down proves that Wepner is still a bitter loser because everyone who followed these fights knows that Ali slipped. Wepner on the other hand had his face rearranged and his brains jolted by Ali's punches which caused Wepner to drop to the ground hopelessly trying to save his dignity by trying to get up but failing to do so and walking like a zombie. Watch the actual fight not the movie.

I'm old enough to have seen all of Chucks fights at the time he fought them. In those days I didn't like his attitude to life and other people very much. Now though - what a gentleman he has become. if a director/writer does a story about you, they must ask permission to do so, even if there's a lot of scenes that came from your life story. Stallone even said after he done the first rocky movie that was inspired and the story was based off Chuck Wepner...but Stallone never gave a single cent to Chuck Wepner, but Chuck Wepner decide to sue Stallone for stealing his life story. Stallone recently said that Rocky movies was based not on Chuck Wepner but on Rocky Marciano, a boxer who retire undefeated with 40-0 and 43 KOs.....Stallion tried to get the case thrown out but Judge decided they will go to Trial, and it was going take place in New Jersey. Vince McMahon was is the owner of WWE, and part owner the up coming football League, XFL...he actually knows Chuck Wepner, Chuck Wepner fought andre the Giant in a match real life, that's how Sylvester Stallone got the idea in Rock 3 when Rocky had a match with Thunder Lips was played by Hulk Hogan....Vince McMahon said the trial is going to take place Chuck Wepner back yard of New Jersey where it most of blue collar people live. and they look at Chuck Wepner as the same person they are, and it was True, yes Chuck Wepner was ranked 8th in the world and was getting fight Muhammad Ali, he still had to work on the sides with long hours to pay his bills....so your going to have 12 juries who are blue collar, and seeing a rich man who made the Franchise over 1 billion dollars trying to rip off this hard working blue collar man, they are not going to like that...and Vince McMahon gave his advice through in T.V interview and said Sylvester Stallone, "settle" and that's exactly what Stallone did, we cant know how much Chuck got, due the agreement of being privacy...

He looks better in now in later life than he did in his prime. Also, the amount of punishment he took, you think he would be inarticulate, but he's as sharp as a tack.

I often heard that Stallone was homeless, but now I wonder if he chose to stay homeless because of the Vietnam War - technically Conflict. It took years of boxing in the "Legal System" for Sylvester Stallone to "Legally own up to the fact that the origin of his "Rocky" inspiration was Chuck Wepner's life; however, in my humble opinion Sly Stallone may have also been inspired to make a "Rambo" from Chuck Wepner's life: Chuck Wepner was a Marine in the United States Marine Corps
