Bought the barista maker a few weeks ago. I used it once and it was brilliant. The following day it didn’t work. Nespresso customer service was dreadful. After an hour talking to a very incompetent call handler I managed to get a returns address. They’ve since received the machine but I’m still awaiting a refund.

This looks amazing I’m basically a latte drinker would you recommend a basic pod machine then a milk frother like used here or would you say the creatista plus will be just as good I really want it for take out cups for work probably with some syrup 😂 don’t want to waste my money on a big machine when a basic machine with a frother will do just as good a job ?? Hi there, the hot chocolates do taste great out of the barista maker 👍 Tough question as for travel mugs I'd probably say an aeroccino and basic machine would be fine really. One caveat to that is the heat of the milk for lattes as the creatista makes a really hot milk whereas the latte setting on the aeroccinos isn't as hot, which could be important if you want it to stay hot for a long time. Would be interesting to test the heat of the barista recipe maker on the latte setting against the creatista 🤔 You have me intrigued now 😅 We do have a video where we tested the heat of the Nespresso milk frothers against each other though and we probably tested the creatista in one of our reviews on that machine too. Thanks for sharing, that was next on my list for hot chocolate videos but have run out of sachets 😅 Might get a big bag of the premium grated chocolate I mentioned in the video and try that in the aeroccino 👍

Another great review and I’ll definitely try the HC sachets for sure now. I’m also pretty sure that I routinely fill my recipe maker above the recommended line as I can’t see it and I’ve always held the lid on after once having hot chocolate spray in circles all over my worktop. :)

Hi there. The Barista Maker does tend to overflow easily if you put more than the recommended amount of milk in. You can sometimes stop it happening by holding the lid down if you really want a bigger drink, though. If you're using the right amount of milk then it may be worth just checking that the rubber lip on the seal is positioned over the lip on the jug when you put the lid on. Hope some of this helps.

Good comparisons and reviews but you should consider a mic for better audio to save the reverb from your kitchen, would make these detail orientated videos much better to watch.

Thank you for this 👏🏼 really pleased it worked. Can I suggest trying Green&Blacks dark cooking chocolate as it tastes amazing and far cheaper than the one demonstrated here. The cubes of the bars are all 5 grams each so it’s easy to measure ☺️ (hotel chocolat salted caramel hot chocolate is truly heavenly also ☺️). Great videos, thank you both, they’re really helpful 👏🏼👏🏼

Confused because it has 3 levels listed and Max line inside is enough. 100ml isn't enough by itself normally for Hot Chocolate so why does it have the different levels if not suppose to use them. Anyway, I just put the amount I want and it doesn't over flow, it if did I'd send it back. Just don't go over the Max line. I assumed the Min. line is when making foam, not Hot chocolate.

I have noticed and you can see it in this video, when you put your top on it rises back up, just a millimetre or so, mine doesn’t do that. It never overflows. Is overflowing a problem for lots of people? Maybe it’s a gasket thing? Maybe I’m just lucky and I should shut up while I’m ahead, lol. Another thing later on I noticed, you just lifted the lid off when it was done, pop, it came off, I have to twist mine off the seal is so tight. I think you should ask Nespresso for a replacement gasket. Hope you don’t think I’m being a pain, these are expensive machines, they really should work.

Good point. It could also be if the gasket isn’t correctly seated after the lid has been washed etc.

No I don't think that at all, appreciate the input. It's done that with mine from the start and has come up a few times in the comments with other subscribers actually selling theirs as they weren't happy with the small drink sizes and overflowed when they tried to increase them. The seal is also positioned correctly on the lid. Glad this isn't happening for you, though. Might be too late for me to get a replacement now (as probably had it over a year) but hope getting a replacement seal from Nespresso sorts the issue for others if they are having it 👍

Having done both in the Barista, which is your preference for a Barista hot chocolate, Nespresso chocolates or the Hotel Chocolat sachet?

This is a really interesting comparison, thank you for sharing. I really like hot chocolate (have a couple/few a day!). I have been really tempted by the hotel chocolat velvetiser but the price has been a biting point for me. I wonder if you could do similar in the Nespresso Aeroccino 3 Milk Frother or would that cause too many issues with it? hmmm

We're hoping to do a video on that soon but Nespresso don't really recommend making hot chocolate in the aeroccino so I'm hoping it doesn't break it 😅 A few people have mentioned the Dualit Milk Frother as a cheaper alternative to the velvetiser, even saying it's basically the same frother but not dressed up as much if that helps.

How much sugar in the mix ...... have u tried good old cocoa powder....... years ago long before you were born in Royal Navy they had solid block stuff for drinking after put in milk lol

Not too sure on the sugar I'm afraid but will look when I get another pack of sachets, that was the last sachet in the box. We've used cocoa powder a lot for hot chocolate but not in the Barista Maker I have to say. Something to try in future 👍

Find it concerning you need to hold down the lid on this machine to ensure milk doesn't spill out. Sounds like a design fault with lid or gasket?
