We done this several times and found no issue, but we do wait for the milk to warm up a bit first before adding the chocolate also we have made Horlicks malt drink using powder and this works well

Have used the Hotel Chocolat sachets and 35g from the Hotel Chocolat large bags for making hot chocolate for the past six months. No issues. I have learnt to set the milk going for 10 secs so the milk warms up to start melt the chocolate more. Gradually add the chocolate over a 15 second period. with the spring removed the finished product is nice and velvety.

If you are worried about banging it about too much, why not melt the chocolate, first, in a microwave, and pour it in, slowly, or cool the chips, put them into a plastic bag and pound them into small bits. Little bits or syrup should be much easier on the frother
@ghadayasin76872 жыл бұрын
I would recommend using the cocoa powder instead! You just put 1 or 2 spoons on milk and then pour it in the frothing machine. Much safer and it will not run for long time
@remmingtonsteele22876 ай бұрын
Generally, with this, you want to wait until the milk is heated, then put the chocolate in. I also find it works great with super frothy milk.

Tried this with Twinings hot chocolate powder and Hotel Chocolat shavings - the powder, presumably full of sugar, burnt to the bottom and was a pain to clean off. The shavings on the other hand worked perfectly. Mesmerising to watch them disappear into the milk. Very good results - will be doing that again! Thanks for the vid and comments, great life hack

There really is limited risk, the aeroccino works by spining a magnet under the teflon base which spins the whisk. Even if the whisk were to get stuck the worst that would happen is the whisk doesn't spin and some milk or chocolate sticks to the base which happens when making only milk in aeroccinos over time anyway. The motor on the aeroccino 3, for the magnet, is however only single speed where as it's variable on the aeroccino 4, so its a but better for moving the chocolate around, main thing is to use a suitable amount of milk that it won't overflow and small pieces of quality chocolate since less mass in each piece means quicker melting and you will be fine

Fyi, i used to use chocolate chips for hot chocolate on the stove until i read the reason they were taking so long to melt was that chocolate chips are meant to not melt well. This is because they want them to stay a bit intact in baking . So I would probably try grating a chocolate bar into it or use the powdered cocoa.

It was a little nerve-wracking trying it 😅 Yeah a few of the Amazon reviews on the Callebaut chocolate were from people using it for the velvetiser. I have another machine. My wife loves Hot Chocolate. I make her HC every morning. We are on a low-carb diet so I make it with coco powder & sugar substitute. I put an ounce of heavy cream in the bottom & pour the correct amount of Almond milk in. Place the cocoa powder on top of the milk along with the sugar substitute. Then turn on the machine. I'm using the stir & not the frother spring. It works great & she loves it. No real wear on the machine.

This was so informative! Thank you so much for taking the chance doing it. Recommending to take the whisk out too, I wouldn't have thought of that! Very helpful video 👌

Just buy the dulait milk frother. It’s half the price of the velvetiser and has double the functionality. It has a thick foam setting for cappuccinos, heated milk setting for lattes and hot chocolates (just add the chocolate to the milk and whisk away) and a cold whisk setting for cold milk based coffees and milk shakes (just add your milk shake powder). It’s a great piece of kit and the exact machine that velvetiser is based on.

@Albertojedi3 жыл бұрын
I guess the Aeroccino 3 detects when the spring is removed because the frothing cycle with the spring on normally takes no more than 60 seconds (not enough time to melt those chips). Yours lasted almost 2 minutes. I use Ghirardelli or Monin chocolate sauces. So far, nice results.
@A2BProductions3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it may be that it knocks it off when it hits a certain temperature too, so the more milk the longer it takes 🤔 Seemed to work well having more milk and no spring but might give it a try with less sometime. Cheers for sharing your method too, will have to try that 👍🏼

I never tried chips..I normally use hersheys special dark chocolate powder. But sometimes it get stuck and I have a move chocolate powder with a spoon around mixer thing. I also have to remove frother and lid to make it otherwise it spills out. Sometimes if I want to add marshmallows, I remove the chocolate mixed milk within 30 seconds and then do another cycle (which is approx a minute) while adding marshmallows. That's really good, but my friends tease me that I am still a kid :)

@@A2BProductions the noise is just the chocolate chips bouncing about as they are in the whisk vortex it’s nothing to worry about as the chocolate is softer than the whisk and wall of the Aeroccino. I use these chocolate chips all the time in my Dulait milk frother but I used about 45g-50g (half cup measure). What I do is let the milk heat up for 20-30 seconds with the lid off and then start adding the chocolate chips slowly getting faster as the milk heats up, putting the lid on for the final minute to reach full temperature. I’ve also used various chocolate bars that I’ve chopped up such as dairy milk, Cadbury Flake and Terry’s chocolate orange bars. As long as they are all chocolate they will work fine.
@Albertojedi3 жыл бұрын
@@joffhall81 I agree with you. Nespresso just wants people to buy their barista recipe maker for everything else. I would gladly fall into their trap if it were cheaper. Common sense says that a metal spring/whisk can't be adversely affected by some chocolate chips bouncing back and forth before melting.
