Great review. I already purchased the cameras since I was already in the Google ecosystem. So far I haven't had any issues with them and no I don't pay for Nest Aware. My biggest positive note about this camera has been when my daughters hamster escaped her cage and was running around the house in the middle of the night. I was able to use the cameras and notifications to get alerts when it saw it running around the floor and I was able to catch it thankfully.

I recently purchased one of these. I have the old Nest indoor cam too. I don't know if it's just me, but I don't see a place in the Home app to schedule when the camera is on/off. I see a manual toggle button to turn it on/off but no auto-schedule. On the old indoor Nest cam, I could easily set up a schedule through the old Nest app. I don't think the newer devices are compatible with the old Nest app (which makes no sense) Also, I have an older wired outdoor Nest cam and I bought a newer battery powered outdoor Nest cam. The wired cam picks up everything. I noticed the battery cam can have some delays. For instance, one time it picked up a guy walking across my driveway. I'll take a wild guess and say he was simply cutting between houses to get to the street. Anyway, it didn't pick him up in the back alley walking to my driveway. It picks up when he's half way in my driveway. I hope they provide updates to fix that. I like Google's products and I am in the Google/Nest ecosystem with a Nest doorbell, inside/outside cameras, Chromecast with GoogleTV and Google home speakers but I don't think these updated products are doing what they anticipated. At this point, I prefer the older wired outdoor camera.

If this could be something that would be fixed I would totally recommend the Wyze 100%. Also on playback and live there's a very audible static noise that is super annoying! We were looking at the Google nest and or camera in hopes that it would have a better microphone to pick up the sound and two-way talk. That would be the Google Indoor/Outdoor camera. I have a similar setup as what you're looking for. You can also fine tune what alerts/events you want it to record. I love the fact that it differentiates between animals, cars, people, known faces or general motion(if you want). I'm here because, as of today, the Starling Home hub ($99) now allows any(?) Nest Cam to connect to Apple's Homekit Secure Video. So I'm here to figure out if I like the camera. The cooldown issue that you are concerned about is moot if I use Apple's HSV.
@evlnte2 жыл бұрын
Not according to Starling. The Starling Home hub relies fully on the Google API, so if the cameras doesn't identify an alert it isn't relayed to Homekit. I also have a Starling Hub, and while I enjoy the cross-compatility that it offers, they require the underlying Google Nest account to be subscribed to Nest Aware even now that so many features are offered for free by Google.
@TheNameOfJesus2 жыл бұрын
@@evlnte I may be in a little over my head, but any Apple HomeKit hub uses its own notification system that doesn't rely on any app or any other device or web server (not even an Apple server.) So I think we are talking Apples and Oranges here, because you are talking about Nest Aware and I'm talking about using only HomeKit and HSV.
@evlnte2 жыл бұрын

First off, Pepper is cute as a button but can someone here tell me how to get my dogs off the couch as well? Some cool tips will be truly appreciated 🙏 😊
@Murad_Jim5 ай бұрын
Treats + Consistency = good pup. Train your dog to do what you want by saying a command, ideally a phrase with less syllables and not something that sounds similar to another command. Always use the same phrase for the same command. So every time you see your dog get on the couch say “get off the couch” (or whatever phrase you wish) while showing a treat to the dog. If the dog is unresponsive or doesn’t understand you have a treat in your hand then say the phrase while holding the treat in front of them and guiding the dog off the couch. It’s important to remember never to repeat a command over and over because then dogs just tune it out -so say the phrase, wait a few seconds, then say it again rather than repeating it back to back, over and over. AS SOON as the dog does the command (gets off the couch) give them the treat with positive reinforcement like saying “good dog” in a soft/excited tone while petting them (or however you typically show affection). At first it may be annoying and seem like they’ll never learn the command but the key is patience and consistency. Dogs are always very eager to understand what we’re trying to tell them, especially when there’s an incentive like a treat haha. Eventually the dog will learn your command and a treat will no longer be necessary and positive reinforcement will be enough. PS there’s a saying that “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” but that is not true. I taught my 9 year old dog how to play dead when I make a finger gun and go “bang bang” haha

Plenty of thieves have gone on record to say they know you're not home and they'll continue doing what they're doing 2) your dog needs better training. You can blame the cool down time but I think you have a deeper issue here. Are you planning on using your camera 46 times a day to tell your dog to get off the couch?
