I did not have to add or replace anything for my Skybell HD install...it connected directly to the existing wires from my old doorbell. Tech With Brett I need a voice of reason! I currently have the video doorbell from a home security company called VIVINT..I am not happy with it. We receive a lot of packages and we rely on the video and voice communication of the door bell. We recently had someone try and steal something from the front of our house and the VIVINT failed to record! Yesterday, my wife was receiving a package from Fed X and she tried talking to the guy and nothing. I talked to you before about having a lot of devices on my wi fi and based on your advice am now using the Sengled hub for my Lights (still works great thank you!)...I know you mentioned your in laws have the Ring doorbell and I believe you use the nest Hello. I can’t make up my mind...I’m interested in the home security aspect (of both Ring and Google) Vivint is to expensive...I really like the $10 price tag for monitoring of Ring. It gets really hot here in Vegas and I notice Ring works in temps of 120? And Hello of temps only up to 104? So that may be an issue as well. Any suggestions?? What do you like better?? I need simple and wife friendly. Any thoughts I would appreciate! I looked at other reviews and you do a really good job..so I trust your insight. Thanks!

Hello. I have the ring pro. They have amazing customer service. I also have several nest cams. I wanted to add an additional camera (Nest Hello) and let me tell you about he experience. I installed it and the video quality is amazing. The alert time is horrible, between 30-60 secs. And then to answer the alert sometimes works and doesn’t. I went back and forth with customer service and they told me that many people weren’t have the same problems basically blamed the issue on my WiFi but yet all my other Nest cameras work flawlessly. I kept asking if they were working on a fix and they again told me many people weren’t have the same issue so no fix. They also told me if I wasn’t happy return the product so I did. Bottom line, if you want security and reliability, stick with the Ring until Nest fixes the problem!!!!! Rings notifications are also instant so be aware of this. Do yourself a favor and wait.

I agree with your points being a previous ring pro user and have been using the Nest Hello last few days. I love the Ring's instant notifications. Lots of users have reported the delay in notifications with the Nest Hello.

Just picked up a Nest Hello camera to replace my Ring camera and there definitely is a large delay in notifications. My Ring camera was always instant, however the Nest had a 10 second delay in any notification. It's very frustrating because the image quality is so good! And I want to keep it but the delay is a major issue for me.

Thanks for a great video! I know this vid is a couple years old, but just curious if you're still using the Nest Hello? I've had it since it first came out and absolutely love it! Tech With Brett I already have 5 various Nest cams, with a Nest IQ facing outwards from the House, showing the front porch, all the way to the houses across the street, and I have subscriptions on that camera as well as several others. Do you still recommend adding the subscription to the Hello as well? If I do, will I get 10 days for $50/yr as I do with my other additional Nest cams? Thanks.

Tech With Brett I just noticed this video and I’m really hoping you can help me. I can’t seem to find the answer. I have the Nest Hello along with the Google Home Hub and when someone rings the bell it alerts me on the Hub, which is great. Unfortunately, I can’t see the picture on that screen from where I’m sitting. Also, unfortunately, I’m now disabled and it takes me so long to move and by the time I will make it to the Hub they will be gone. I also have the Google Chromecast and I know how to stream the Doorbell to the TV, but I would like it to automatically show up on the Chromecast that connected to the TV. I’m sure there is a way to do this because it obviously triggers to be shown on that little screen. How can I make it show up on my TV instead or even in addition to? I’m really hoping you can help. I’m sure there is some setting to change. I know not everyone has the display on their Google home (which is how I started). So I would assume if you only have a Google Home and or Google Home mini you should be able to use a tv that has the Chromecast in lieu of the Google Home Hub display. Thanks in advance!!!

I have a Sony A8F TV with built-in Google assistant. We don’t have your Chromecast or separate Google unit. We can but rarely ever control the TV with the Google microphone in the remote, but is it possible to view our new Nest Hello camera by simply using the TV remote? Or do we have to put the Nest Hello app on the TV like we have on our 2 smartphones and 2 iPads, and then find and open that app to see who’s at the front door? Being able to just press the Google button on the remote and say “Hey Google, show the front door” would be faster and cooler, since the TV screen is so much bigger.

This is so awesome. I was able to install and Nest Hello is working great. But indoor chime is barely working. What I noticed is, when Nest rings, it’s not able to send enough current to chime dongs so they are barely moving and hitting the metal to produce sound. I took out Nest and put old doorbell and left Nest chime connector as is and chime rang fine. Not sure what I can do to make indoor chime get enough power to make a ding

You first will need to migrate your Nest account to a Google Account. You will find the option for that in the Nest App. Then in the Google Home app you will invite the other person to your home and they will have access to view all the devices in the Google Home app.

Sorry for the delay in response. Without the Nest Aware it is very limited. I just received notifications and a picture of when someone was at the door. I don't think it actually recorded anything at all. At least nothing showed up on my phone. I did not try downloading it online. I might have to test that out.

Hi Brett, installed the hello today without any problems. One question though... I have 3 minis in 3 bedrooms and one home assistant in the living room. All of them ring when someone hits the botton. I want to avoid ringing on 2 minis in the bedrooms of the children so they won't wake up if someone is at the door early in the morning. Is there a possibility to do that? Kind regards.

Just got mine for Christmas. I have set up a zone on my front porch and turned off the options on the outside zone. Why am I still getting clips for every car that drives by. We had 500 clips yesterday. I hate that. So I'm getting notifications for about 100 of those also. Yes I live off a main road and the road is about 100 feet from my camera. This is annoying and I need to fix it. Can you help me please?

Hello Brett, I have just had a Hello installed professionally and have the doorbell set up in my Google Home app (after migrating the Nest account) which works with my Home Mini's and Chromecast to make visitor announcements... all good! Now, here's the question... how do I allow my wife and her mother (in the same house) to see the front door video - using the Google HOME app? They can see 'Front Door' but when they click on it, the Home app asks "do you have a Nest account or not?" They don't.... thanks for your help Brett :-)

As long as your keep your WiFi router the same name they will just reconnect when you plug them all back in. If you are using a new router, just make it the same name and password you were previously using.

No, you could have the Google Home be the main doorbell.

Just go to Lowe's or Home Depot and find how bad the rate of return of these things are as I bought one myself but ended up bringing it back myself and I have a numerous of Nest products that I use.

I enjoyed this video though I think I'm leaning more towards getting a Ring Pro. Does Ring work with Google Home like this? I'd love to have it tell me notifications and also cast to my TV. Living in a hot climate I know Ring handles extreme temps better so that is one big deciding factor for me. Nest looks nicer but I think in my situation Ring is the way to go.

You can Link the Ring to the Google Home but it won't let you cast to the TV. You can ask when the last motion alert was and such.
