Nest WiFi Pro Vs Nest WiFi Speed Test Comparison

Today we tested out the New Google Nest WiFi Pro with WiFi 6E to see if it is actually any faster than the Nest WiFi from before.
We tested an iMac, MacBook, Windows PC, iPhone and a Pixel 6 Pro from different locations in our house, as well as tested the Wired Backhaul vs the Mesh (Wireless) Backhaul.

If you have a lot of radio interference in a room like the kitchen area, then you might want to consider adding another ap device to compensate for the interference. Placing an ap device on the opposite side of the interference zone.

As distance increases, 6Ghz gets worse.. have thick walls? metal? all will destroy the 6Ghz signal. For now, AC2200 (5Ghz) is perfect for my current tech needs.. I see no reason if you have 1gig up/down to have anything other than tried and true 2.4/5Ghz wifi.. Backhaul, I completely agree on and many people have no idea how mesh actually works.. it's not daisy chaining for distance and it doesn't work intuitively. wire everything.

The nest wifi pro does 6ghz and so does the pixel 6 pro are you sure you were on 6ghz? Because I feel like it would be a lot faster on 6ghz

Nice video ! Check out the Deco XE75 sometime its the same AXE5400 as the Nest Pro but its both cheaper and the range is longer.I dare say you dont even need a backhaul with it.With 1 device on it the first point has a 720mbps download and with 103 devices a 550mbps download.The second point 50ft away through 3 wood framed walls still has the same 550mbps download all wireless.The third point is 10ft from the second point away in a back patio but through a cinder block concrete filled wall and still has a 270mbps download again all wireless.

Thanks for making this video! I just got mine, also intended to upgrade from using two Nest Wifi routers to the Pros. Not sure if my devices were faulty or if software needs improvement, but speeds were actually worse.. I'll be returning them because in addition to that I honestly preferred the look of the non-pros

Very weird... If you have not shipped them back yet. Unplug your internet modem as well as your Nest WiFi Pros for 10 minutes. This will clear the memory in the internet modem. Then plug the modem and routers back in and test again.

I have never had good luck with Google hardware. I had the OG onHub, and it had issues with handoff. I upgraded to the Nest WiFi and it was good for a while, but then one node started dropping out. There were posts about it on the Google forums for months, and I got tired of having it randomly go offline. I ended up replacing it with a U6 Pro. Single AP covers my whole house. Downstairs, it drops to like -65 db, but still very usable. Not the cheapest option, but it's been very reliable for me.

Thank you! Yesterday I was searching youtube to find a detailed comparison speed test and didn't find anything. I've got the original google wifi and it's terrible. The extender pucks only transmit a max of 100mbps. Google is aware of this and hasn't fixed it in a year and a half. This also affects the last generation nest wifi. This is definitely a firmware and many people are experiencing this issue. There's a thread with tons of people complaining and a google rep saying we're looking into it about once every several weeks for the past year.

I'm also wondering what the speeds were at the location of the extender without the extender. Would you mind unplugging the extender and testing from that location? A before and after speed test of just one of the devices would be fine.

I actually did that test the following day. I was curious as well. The M2 still got 250mbps from my living to the main router in my office. My pixel 6 Pro got 200. So it wasn't to bad even with the 1 router.

Great video showing the capabilities of the two models. I think Nest products are reliable and relatively nuisance free and its great to have the support. I would still buy the nest wifi model . I'm happy if I got a speed of atleast 20 mbps on my wifi connected devices.

The MacBook Air m2 actually does not support all three bands, it’s a wifi 6 device. The only apple product that actually does support all 3 bands is the iPad Pro 2022s which are 6e devices.

Yeah, I hate it only supports Wifi 6. It was just one of the newest devices I had to test with.

At least the Nest Pro 6e uses the 6ghz band for the backhaul (At least I hope). It might be dependent on the connection. If this is true less congestion on the 5ghz band.

@@BigCVlogs I hate to break it to you, but you’re going have to wait until 1 - 3 years for Apple to upgrade wifi 6 devices into wifi 6e devices.

for me the issue with the wifi 6 pro is there is no Google Assistant. otherwise it would have been a instant buy upgrade, now I don't see any reason to upgrade this compared to the areo pro 6e or rival mesh units of similar standards

Here is a question. I'm on Verizon gig using their modem/router with a nest wifi router plugged into that. I have moca adapters connected to switches throughout the house to get ethernet to the hard to reach places. Could I plug the Pros into those switches and get back hall functionality if those moca connections would technically be going back to the Verizon modem and not directly to the main Pro router? I feel like I'm in a position to do back hall, but that mixing of infrastructure will be a gotcha.

I must say... I am not sure what will happen with that setup. My thought process tells me it should work and use the wired backhaul through the adapters but I am honestly not 100% sure on that. I sadly haven't setup a network with those kinds of adapters.

It's a mesh system. So it uses the cable to talk to each router, giving me a faster speed than letting the mesh system talk to each router wirelessly. If you can run a cable, this is the way to go.

17:12 it does matter that you can't separate or turn off the other signals. Cause if you can't turn off WiFi 6 or 5 the 2.4 camera will try to connect to everything except the 2.4. And YOU will be *HOURS* trying to figure out, Why it won't connect?

I have never had this issue because s 2.4 device will only connect to the 2.4Ghz band. While a 6e device will connect to any of the 3 bands. For example, all of my 15 Wyze cameras are 2.4Ghz and never had an issue setting them up and they didn't have an issue switching to this wifi when I swapped them. Just unplugged and plugged back in and they were ready to go.

Nest Wifi Pro is significantly faster for me compared to the Nest Wifi. But, my PS5 has had disconnects the last couple of nights. I'm hoping it's a localized issue.

I remember having devices do that when I worked in IT. What normally worked was disconnecting/deleting the wifi connection from the device. Then power cycle the device and reconnect to the wifi.

You'll be buying a new router once you go fiber and get 10,000 Mbps up and down. And realize that the new Nest wifi is only capped at 1gb. Now what's better 10 Gb or 1?

Great review! Question: how would the wired backhaul work if i got 3 nest wifi pro routers, since it only has 2 ports, and one port goes to the modem

Just use a switch like I did. So your main Nest Router plugs into the modem, then use the other port to go to a gigabit switch and then routers 2 and 3 plug into the switch and work the same way. It knows they are all connected and works great. I did this at our last place, because it was split level and longer and worked great.

How do i fix mines? my nest pro is just blinking yellow lights for both n idk if im doing anything wrong. I tried to put my wifi downstairs using a 100ft ethernet cable but it still don’t work. Any tips?

Just to verify, the main router plugged into your Internet modem is a Nest Pro correct? If it is, try to factory reset the 2nd one, and set it up again with the cable. It has to be Nest Pro to work together. Nest wifi and nest pro devices won't work together, they all have to be the same type. (No clue why Google did that lol)

Just got mine. These have worse speeds. I will be returning and going back to BGW320 ROUTERS. Nest pro Download speeds were trash and then upload speeds are even worse. The att modem had dl speeds of 950 mb and 900mb upload.. Not worth it for me .

Having the same issues I can't get higher than 50 makes up my download is 350 I also have a 1 gig connection fiber

you should def just grab a deco axe5300 from Costco. Going to be on sale for $299 for three nodes. Wouldn't be surprised if the deco gave you 850Mbps > on your MacBook air

The 6ghz band is separate, dedicated for backhaul(can be used in a shared mode). The only downfall, if you really want it blended with 5Ghz/2.4Ghz. But man is the wireless backhaul fast af.

Yeah I’m wondering if the nest pro blends the 6e 6ghz band in with the 2.4ghz/5ghz band? I have the axe5300 but it separates the band , so you have to go to your settings and pick it every time you get home because the range isn’t that great so. When does deco go on sale for $299!?

It was 2 Nest Routers. So I had the main Nest Router setup and then bought a 2nd Nest Router and set it up as an AP.

It's not worth the upgrade for me...I have the same internet speeds you are getting 450 mps with original, 600 mps is nice to have. I also the nest Wifi for $80 for set of 3. $399 for a set of 3 isn't worth it for the pro version

Here are the FACTS: * SLOW CONNECTION (wireless & wired), even with Galaxy Tab S8 ULTRA, iPad Pro M2, Z Fold 4 and PIXEL 7 PRO that all have the latest WiFi 6E modem * The hand-off from the main router to the satellites is NON EXISTENT, even I'm far away from it, as it will still hold on to it, rather than the satellite router that I'm 1 foot away * WiFi CALLING is NOT working properly, as it keeps dropping our calls * There's NO WAY to do a MANUAL software update * The customer service/technician (or whatever you call them) are ALL clueless, that I've called and chatted with them, and that they don't know NOTHING! I've tried over and over, using wired to my new MAC PRO, and latest Surface Studio computers, and I can't go over 400Mbps, even when I connect directly to the modem, I can reach 1000 - 1100Mbps of internet speed (I subscribed to 1 Gig (Google Fiber). Only LIARS will say that theirs is working properly, as I called Costco & Best Buy, and they told me that even they only selling it since last week, there's MORE RETURN than people keeping it! Do NOT BUY, and WAIT for GOOGLE to FIX the hardware & software, period. Have a great day to y'all!
