When I was scheduled for kidney surgery, a partial nephrectomy, I did that same type of double batch meal prepping! It worked out great since I am a single mom and the kids still needed meals to eat, both during the time I wasn't home and after I came home. I did a lot of similar prep with hospital bag....the only thing I didn't think of was foods/snacks. I had never stayed at that hospital, but I thought Boston would have good food service. They don't lol. Here on Cape the hospital is a la carte and I can easily work with my dietary issues, but at that hospital, they just brought you what they made! So if I ever go to a Boston hospital again, I will bring snacks that I can have!

The countdown begins shortly, I am so excited for your family! You are so sensibly prepared, I would expect nothing less. I LOVE how you are "not over the top", like too many KZbin Moms!! They seems to try to outdo each other to have the "Best, newest, most expensive, exclusive". Their baby's whole environment is artificially controlled: motion, sound, temperature, they are attached to their new age bedding that rocks them constantly, constant sound. It is awful! Simple and natural is much healthier.

Great preparations! Interestingly, it sound as though hospital stays after giving birth are longer in New Jersey than where we live. Generally sent home here in less than 24 hrs.! I'm much older, and stays way back when we're usually three days. I do think new moms, first child, are sent home way too soon these days. Praying for easy delivery for you, and healthy momma and baby!

I completely agree with you, i live in Scotland and with my last son he was born at 5am and we were out of the hospital by 3pm unfortunately he was what they called a cold baby and ended up straight back up to the hospital the very next day to be placed in the hot cot which is a 100 mile trip either way. I remember my grandmother saying back in her day they were kept in for 10 days. How times have changed.

Timely tips for new mothers to be. My preparations for my first 65 years ago was to buy the flannelette and sew diapers. Made a basinette from a big wicker laundry basket. Lined it of course so it was cosy. Used lots of secondhand things , crib, carriage. My first two were home deliveries at the midwifes house plus the doctor was there.

Now that you are nearly at the end of your preparations, you can relax a bit. One question, will you need some masks to wear in the hospital? When I got pregnant with my last I started researching freezer meals and used the excess of my existing grocery budget and saved it up over the course of the 9 months. I made 6 weeks worth of freezer meals for breakfast and dinner and lots of lunch options. I was having my 3rd csection, and with my second there were some complications and my recovery was a lot longer and it was the same with my last. I needed quick and easy and ready made because my mobility was limited as I healed. We had all that plus our church provided 2 weeks of meals so 8 weeks total and it was such a blessing. It took 10 weeks to get back to normal so I was so grateful to not have to think about how I was going to make dinner since it was all crock pot or casseroles
