Net Making - How to Make a Purse Net Using Paracord - Easy to Follow Instructions on Net Making
Netting Needle Supplies: amzn.to/2teu2mk
In this video, I chose to make a Purse Net using Paracord. The main reason was that I wanted to give the viewer a better view of how net making works.
When making a net with Paracord, it can be made into a hammock or even a wall hanging to store stuffed toys in a children's room.
I have used an instruction sheet that I once got from Bridport Nets. These are fairly easy to follow instructions and guide you through the process of making a Purse Net.
I Purse Net is normally used when hunting for rabbits. The idea is that the Purse Net is staked over a rabbit's hole, then when the rabbit tries to escape it is caught in the Purse Net.
Here is a link to the actual Purse Net instructions: www.instagram....

Thanks for the tutorial. My father and I made a cast net about 41 years ago, worked great. He also melted the lead, and used bamboo to make the lead a specific side for it. Then about thirty years ago I bought a book on making cast nets, to refresh my memory. Both times we made our own needles. Unfortunately I lost that book many years ago. I was looking on you tube, for a tutorial on how to repair cast nets so I can repair my grandson's net. I didn't even know they sell the needles, thanks for the info. Keep up the tutorials.

I just recently found this video. I read that you had pulled it but anything online never really goes away and don't know if you will get my comment. Anyway, I wanted to say thanks for it. I still have not made the paracord net I am determined to make. I appreciate the problems with it being slippery and knots tying and staying as intended and also the twisting paracord seems to have a direction to it. I think it addresses some of those issues. I know we all like to see the "right way" to do something but it is also good to see what can and does go wrong and how to deal with it. Thumbs up, another good instructional video from Johnny Debt.

It would be easy to make a netting needle out of a piece of PVC pipe also. Cut it to the desired length and then split it lengthwise with a hacksaw blade. Then use a heat gun to soften the plastic. Spread the plastic into a rectangle, keeping it warm. Use a roller to flatten it and put some clamps or weights on top so you get a flat piece of plastic when it cools. Cut out the point and tail with the saw and file smooth. Drill holes for endpoints for the U-shaped winding area on the top and cut the rest of with a scroll saw or whatever you have on hand that might work. You could also just drill a lot of holes touching each other. Use a file to smooth, round, and taper the edges.

The hole in the nose of the bull is pierced when the bull is a very young calf so it does not fight back, and, any way, it can easily be held on the ground when it is a very young calf - then it just gets used to having the ring in its nose all the time and a leash can easily be attached to the ring to lead the adult bull that is easiy controlled by the leash as its nose is very sensitive

You think this could be applied to making some kind of swinging hammock chair? I’ve been on the search for a good method to make one. Something strong but comfortable
@KnottingKnots
@KnottingKnots 7 жыл бұрын
This should work fine. I think the only thing would be to consider some form of padding in the seat part? Also maybe a finer mesh size would make it more comfortable, without the need for padding.

Stumbled over this video......thought I should comment, There are many ways to make nets and many different techniques, I worked on prawn trawlers many years ago and I guess the skills learned for net building and repair have ‘knot’ faded. The knots you were tying with the Paracord were inverted compared to the knots you used in the finer cordage. This would result in a net mesh that slipped. Meaning the knots you tied were essentially overhand knots and did not secure the mesh ...... to make a stable mesh you needed to be tying a sheet bend, tightening the knot above the “V” in the mesh ..... not under it (like you were doing when you tied the overhand knot). Also tying your net off to a head rope, foot rope or hardware, a clove hitch is a much better option as you can cinch it up tight as you tie (no fiddling about)........you never want the 1st mate to catch you fiddling with yourself on a boat! Just some thoughts from an old seadog

Johnny, your videos are great and you explain everything realy easy. But I have an issue with this one. (english isn't my fist language, so mybe I'm not using the right terms, sorry) The common way to make the net ist to use a (single)net knot or a double net knot, like it's seen in your other videos or any other net making video on youtube. The singe-net-knot looks/works like a bowline or sheet bend. And i'm sure you know a slipknot. So far so good. But what your are doing here is (and mybe it's the paracord fault) you are creating different knots all over it. You can see it e.g. in frame 40:11. Sometimes you end with a bowline typ and sometimes you end with a slipknot. And thats the reason why some of your knots get loose, because a slipknot does this. I'm explaining this mostly for the viewer, who got confused, no offens Johnny. So, the correct way to make a net is to always end up with a bowline-looking knot, because it's not geting undone. (When the cordage is small enough I would always do the doube net knot, because it's self tightening). The differens is, when you are forming the knot, your loop/eye that was laying over the hand at first has to tighten on the upper mesh and not on the lower one you created in this step. When you tighten it on the upper mesh, you get a bowline/sheep bend looking knot, the correct one. When you tighten it on the lower mesh you get a slipknot, the wrong one for netmaking. I didn't see this mistake in any other of your videos, so I'm sure it's the paracords fault ; ) Keep up with the great videos, Johnny.

Smaller bull's can be bore to the floor by just turning the had & nostrils to the side & up. it is uncomfortable , for the Best but dose not hart them.
