Also in Australia, I have some reservations about sticking my neck out and buying a brand-new car companies brand new car…. But if it is super affordable it will be tempting. As maybe $40k Australian, that puts it at second hand model 3 money. A few years ago I was looking at a Mazda 6 wagon. I had a Subaru outback, so I am keen on a wagon again. Maybe I will get a utility trailer and that can solve all my Ute needs. The something like this fits in perfectly.

station wagons died in North America in the late 2000's... I had wagons for 20 years... but ended up with an SUV because... there weren't any... so sad... It's a much better choice for most people.

@@chrishart8548 I think the main difference between and SUV and a wagon is ride height and how tall the vehicle is. If if you have to step up into it, it is not an estate/break/station wagon. It should be a sedan with a greenhouse where the trunk should be. enyaq/ID.4 ... imo is too high to be a wagon. The benefit of a wagon reduced frontal area and better aero for more driving efficiency, and (compared to original SUV... better, more car-like suspension for higher speeds and better rid.) Enyaq has great suspension so that doesn't apply... it's really just ride-height at this point.

@petersilva037 don't have to step up to get in it's just the perfect hight I have a mondeo and it's definitely getting down time get inside. I was going between the two and using the mondeo on longer journeys but it gets old getting yourself out of the mondeo to stand up. I stay under 56pmh in the enyaq I'm aware the aero dynamics are poor. At that speed it still does 4.5miles per kw

I wish we had some options like this in North America. We have the Kia EV6 which is effectively a wagon, but it starts at just under 60k in Canada. If we could xould get a 30K practical and useful wagon and include the 5k or up to 10k off in EV rebates they would sell a massive amount of them. Too bad about the protectionism tariffs.

You are 100% correct, Wagons are the best of all worlds, I really miss my 75 Vega Kamback 2 door wagon (remember those days)? The lines on the Neta are so unlike the dysmal BOXES on wheels SUV's, unfortunately for the good old US such a realsonable car will never make it to US shores because of STUPID Government protectionist tarrifs and idiotic regulations.

Such a nice looking car. I’m not a fan of split headlights but these designers have pulled it off nicely. I like a big vertical infotainment screen too. I’d love to take this camping around Australia, and it’s a lot more affordable than the new Volvo EX90 wagon. Legacy brands should be scared and so should Tesla with its backward tech and features.

We in the USA will be screwed out of cars like this as wagons/shooting brakes are not massive jacked up pickup trucks or apartment-sized SUVs that get 12mpg therefore they will not sell. Thinking of moving to Australia for numerous reasons, access to Chinese cars and solar being important in the decision.

Seat height is one of the main reasons electric SUV's exist - they need that height in the body to give you height in the seats and therefore leg/foot room. But yeah, I've always loved estates too.

Elliot, just wait until you are a bit older and the arthritis kicks in. It's not necessarily the luggage capacity, the CD, the size of the screen and so on that matters. It's having to climb down to get in, and worse, climb up to get out that is the killer. Despite the other compromises, that's where an SUV has a purpose.

Agree Elliot. SUVs do nothing well but are dangerous for pedestrians, more likely to roll over, more likely to kill you in a roll over, not great to derive compared to a proper car. My perfect car would be a Model 3 Performance shooting brake. ie along the lines of the Audi Avant. This Neta looks promising.

Check average Chinese ft wages smh they arent even affordable for their own people! Example tesla in China pays over 20% more vs average auto worker wages, a ft tesla line employee makes 14-16k all in. A base mic model 3 is about $32,600 and Shanghai per capita is as expensive as ny to live in. Vs U.S. tesla line workers make 53-55k on average and a model 3 here starts from $38,900. Now tell me which one is truly affordable eh. 😀 Hence why despite over 50% nev market share, meaning they have half the home market share left to conquer? Somehow they are desperately trying to export/foist them at the usual 50-100% price premiums onto us westerners! 😂 Those new sweet sweet Chinese ev tariffs shot that sh*t down right quick fast and in a hurry! Serves em right charging U.S. oems 25-40% import tariffs for decades on our cars sold there. Making us form jv so they can use Chinese labor and Chinese supply chains. Yet they own the land we built the car plants on and then china doesn't respect anyone's ip or patents, blatantly ripping westerners off. Estate fan & Skoda Superb Estate driver here. At last a good looking larger estate EV at a "reasonable" price. However, will it make it to the UK & be under £30k - I doubt it. Not a fan of the Tesla style I-Pad & it needs more buttons. Compared to the Superb the rear seat space looks a bit smaller as is the boot. I assume no frunk either with the twin motor variant. At least it has a rear wiper & that pano roof is nice. Could be a long wait (if ever) before we see this brand in the UK.

I have to mention this. The US trend to large vehicles flowed from the station, wagon, to the minivan, full sized SUVs and now 4 door pickups, an SUV with a bed. Station wagons are a gate way drug. Contra indications are insufficient income and Romanesque roads.

Neta, a little feedback from a European citizen: You made an absolute beauty. You nailed the proportions. One bit of a feedback: we dont care about a big screen. Downsize it, and use the funds to get rid of the piano black material in the interior. Its scratch prone and only make the car looks cheap. Lidar for Euro customers isnt something they appreciate either. Adaptive cruise control yes. The alcantara like material looks slightly thin, make it a bit sturdy. The cooling box is nice. But there is no Euro car with something like that, neither is it obligatory for customers here. The glass roof is not appreciate it here either. Keep the manual adjusting of the steering and the seat (even mercs and audis have that), no need for elektric. Finally, bring it to Europe. We kind of had enough of ridicously overpriced cars.

Well, I like to have a cool box or heating box. It keeps the milkshake and the cola cold, the burger and tea hot. I've no issues with a panoramic roof, although it would be nice if to have the option to get it closed. That piano paint can be annoying though. Nobody is driving with gloves in Europe. I've no issues with LIDAR. I get the impression it's working better than some adaptive cruise controls. However, for now it's just not legal to use it here in Europe. Regarding affordability. Yes please bring them over! However, they have to be locally produced, because of it becoming expensive because of protectionism.

Hi from Thailand. The weird looking Neta V has been a big seller here despite the horrendous design and many flaws, thanks to its low price. The updated V2 version looks a bit better and much improved in other areas. I really want a wagon and the only option we have is the MG ES/EP (MG5 in UK), so would be great if this Neta comes to Thailand as well.

Don't see why it needs to have such a long bonnet. Lose a meter and it wouldn't change much about the car inside. Can it compete with the Reno 5 EV?

The long nose improves the styling. Shorter, stubby fronts often look not so good or give the impression of a minibus.

I don't understand why in a car with such good headroom they didn't raise the rear seats a bit higher. I sat in a Polestar 4 a week ago and was disappointed by the rear seat comfort. Also, the steering wheel needs to come out a bit further on a number of other's i've seen in reviews. Tried the BMW iX1, 2 and 3, tight vehicles but, I could get comfortable with the extension of their steering wheel. I like the look, been a wagon fan and this sort of remind me on my KIA Stinger. Not a fan of these larger vertical screens in some EVs.

I've been over the subject of Estates/Wagons/Shooting brakes several times before. They simply work. They have all the advantages of Saloon/Sedans plus that extra loading space. In SUVs you just sit up slightly higher, so there is the false impression that one is safer. It's not. My one and only thought where the odd SUV, but really a Crossover, might score is accessibility. For older, less agile people, they might be slightly easier to get in/out of. Apart from that niche advantage, it's Wagons all the way.

Wagons are better value in ALL price and size segments! My wife has a Prius V. Drives better and more practical than Prius coupes, far less expensive and more economical than RAV hybrid. It was the same with Honda Civic and Toyota Tercel wagons back in the day.

Wagons are great, but as you mention "SUVs" or pseudo SUVs make more sense for EVs because of the space needed for the battery , at least if you want some comfortable seats in the back ... most sedans struggle with the vertical space.

Re the SAIC MG estate car, wondering what the Chinese people think of it. Seems it is liked a lot of here in UK! Rear seats that leave back of your legs without contact, that's the price you pay fro having the flat floor when rear seats are down. Kia Cee'd SW use to have the seat extend into the footwell to flatten the loading area.

That computer monitor is horrendous 🖥️. It’s not even integrated in the design language. It’s literally like someone took a screen and propped it up sideways, then glued it to the dash and centre console, to stop it from sliding off when cornering.

@chrismartin5129 doesn't it have 235/55/17 tyres and a substantial suspension lift. Vs the 225/50517 tyres and rather low slung suspension. It actually has more ground clearance that a lot of SUV's. I rather like th V60 Cross Country. Have you seen them ? It's like the normal estate v60 with bigger wheels grey wheel arch protectors and higher suspension.

can't fault it other than the rather low rear seats. they should have increased the rear roof for higher rear seats and larger/higher cargo area. higher rear roof would kill the sporty look but then this is a wagon.
